No suprise given their poor start, didn't expect it to work out when he was appointed.
He did well when he first managed Rovers, but took advantage of a decent squad with a good team spirit. When it came to replacing them, he struggled not only with decent signings, but getting the most out of players with higher level attitudes. Ben Fosters response to him at Birmingham 'who the **** are you to tell me what to do' indicated this. We may have done alright in League One, but we overspent and the football was hardly exciting. Still thankful for the promotion under him and the second leg against City, remembering also the away trip to Fulham in the FA Cup.
Good coach doesn't mean good manager. The FA could do with remembering this with their current yes man.

Well I know me and JoeBanana's will feel vindicated by this, never was a manager and inherited a great squad from Atkins and dissembled it.
Nice pay off, go back to coaching, doesn't have the man management skills to be a manager.

Appointing a manager who's previous managerial job resulted in being sacked by a league one club who in turn got relegated. Hope Trolls finds work quickly. Seems to be better suited to coaching.

The game against us in the cup just highlighted even more out of his depth he looked managing a Championship side. Cardiff have done the right thing replacing him as quick as they can. Bet Lambert is gutted for Trolls but he will probably benefit from another manager.

They're not happy here in Cardiff very disgruntled fans wailing in the street, in fairness though that was only after they had heard Gary Johnson was an early favourite for the role. I did point out if they were looking for a sh** ex-manager of a Bristol club we have a whole line of candidates before they need to get to Gary Johnson.

His man management got the best out of an underperforming squad and breathed life back into the club. Cardiff are a shambles of a club who's problems lie far beyond PT or the next manager.

Cardiff are a complete mess and we are on a supersonic journey shooting straight past them.I feel sorry for trolls as how can he really change things in such a short period of time.Same goes for Roberto at Villa.
I wish Paul and lennie well as they got us a promotion at Wembley, and beat the city to go to Cardiff but DC is on a completely different level to PT and what he has done for Our club.

Sounds like the attributes of a good coach to me, which he has proven he is; it only started to go wrong upon completion of assembling a squad of his own players.

Things don't have to change overnight but you qant to see progression. Cardiff have gone backwards this season and looked like the league one side not us in that cup match. I like the bloke but totally understand the decision.

For the first couple of years, maybe. But when he tried to improve his inherited squad, this is what 'progress' meant after a couple of seasons (with a wage bill we couldn't afford). Breathed life in initially, but his brand of football and signings were soon sucking it back out again. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9171797.stm5.5k at home in league one, and a bench of Substitutes 13 Green, 06 Tunnicliffe, 21 Clough, 22 Pell, 23 Swallow, 18 Richard, 28 Powell In his first interview, Hughes said he joined us because we offered the most money. Shows how much better DC's way of doing things is.

Phillips, Anthony and Green were hardly poor signings were they? I always remember boo's at FT when we beat Stockport at home in March of that year to go in the top half of League One. Summed up the crazy expectations at the time.

I too have fond, great memories of The Trollope/Lawrence era. He was good as part of a management duo but an absolute shambles of a manager when going it alone. The promotion of 2007 was down to a two man management team, not Trollope alone as any Rovers supporter knows. id like to add that he surpassed my expectations at Cardiff. I gave him until Christmas before he would be sacked!

Not a good Manager.. a very poor one but a fantastic coach and he should have kept doing that. as only reasonable when Lennie was here. As soon as Lennie went we were doomed.

Ah Trolls.
The only man to have hideous people skills as a manager yet wonderful people skills as a coach. I'm lost.
