Very quiet on here about our keeper who split opinions on the weekend with his error. He kept us in the game with this save just before half time last night. I thought some of the criticism was unfair, though I do understand people have a right to an opinion. Sorry to hear about Mildy's injury but him replacing Roos was never going to happen. Anyway UTG onwards and upwards 😀

I think he's done very very well. This isn't a backhanded compliment to us - but I believe it must be difficult coming to play for the noisy, passionate, committed bunch that are the Gas. He's kept his nerve well. Strength to his arm.

It didn't sound very noisy or committed or passionate on the radio until we scored.

On his way home he was so fed up that he threw himself in front of a double-decker bus. It went under him! the old ones are the best. See you next week folks.

We are doing great and should not fall into the mindset of not enjoying it if we can't win everything. The crowd need to remain as positive as the team. We've read about the atmosphere and whether it's the teams responsibility or the crowds to inspire the other. Why was it tense? Why were there mumbles and groans? Where was the noise from 10k under lights when the team needed a push? Hey, we won in the end but this is why I don't believe in the 12th man bollox. Fleetwood had 41 fans and came 300 miles yet managed to give us a fright.

It didn't sound very noisy or committed or passionate on the radio until we scored. Early goal quietend the crowd. Different songs being started at the same time doesn't help either. I'm not sure many people know the words to songs anymore except Goodnight Irene and that's sung too fast. I did see WHU fans were handing out sheets of paper prior to their game against Chelsea with lyrics on, although they weren't very favourable towards John Terry! Could be an idea for us or someone could post them on here. Still don't know why some still sing anti IRA songs with reference to the Pope songs don't get it. Without getting in to political debates, the world has and is still trying to move on. I still think we're one of the most vocal teams on the terraces hearing most teams fans this season.UTG

A few people were criticizing him for the goal we conceded early in the first half in the South Stand. Probably just an optical illusion but the TV camera angle does make it look like it almost went through his hands as he dived.

They gave us a fright because they were a very, very good team, especially first half. confident and assured, and decent ball retention as well. around 4 huge players, and none of them donkeys either. Don't think fans played a part in anything that went on on the pitch TBH

Meanwhile the young lad at the other end kept them in the game and was everything a Lge 1 keeper should be. Not sure why people are pussyfooting around the issue. DC doesn't make many mistakes but the GK situation since the end of the conference season has been a very rare one.

Every goalkeeper makes errors though, find me one that doesn't.
Roos is generally solid and has saved us some points away from home already this season. Confident that given time he'll be looked upon more favourably.

There was a really annoying bloke stood next to me who was screaming at Roos to stay in his box all the way through the first half. At least it shows that he didn't have much to do.

Martin From watching the highlights, I thought he actuaslly got his hand to the ball. It was a well struck shot that had he saved it, we would have lauded him for. One for everyone. According to the great oracle that is wikipedia, he could be out of contract with Derby next summer. Would we sign him if given a chance? Discuss

We've done ok since Grimsby at Wembley though for the howlers and managerial farce wrt goalkeepers right? Those things considered, how much better off would we be exactly? Roos made a mistake, we lost, we had 28 shots but it's the GKs fault we lost?! All players make mistakes every game yet there is an example made of certain players whilst others escape criticism.. The Boro keeper gets praise but that's a snapshot from 1 game. I'm not entirely sure on the point tbh "everything a LG1 keeper should be" what? Just because his team won? Otherwise that statement would not have been written. Top 10 after consecutive promotions, more than holding our own. I'm all for constructive criticism but half of the criticism on here is more akin to playground mob bullying.

I'm all for constructive criticism but half of the criticism on here is more akin to playground mob bullying. I presume the bullying bit isn't aimed at me? I think Roos is ok but that's all. OK. We should aspire to better than that. Don't treat me like a reactionary idiot. I would 100% have written that the posh goalie was what was needed if we had won or drawn. He did EVERYTHING necessary of him as a goalie. Roos didn't. Simple. Are you honestly suggesting a goalie couldn't be on a losing side and stil be a brilliant goalie. Did you ever see Fraser Forster for us? Or Norwich? Or Joe hart at Shrewsbury? Bentley at Southend? Butland on his loan spells? Btw - not comparing posh goalie to them on 1 game... The point really is that for 18 months we've not had a goalie of our own who is definitely for for purpose for the lge we have been in. I liked Puddy in the conf. Was fine for that lge. Never got to prove himself in lge 2 but was unlikely to be anything more than average. Mildly is ok, just, at lge 2 level. Great shot stopper but that's all. We need a permanent goalie who is above average in lge 1. Not a lot to ask really? As much as I love DCs idea of giving every promotion winning player a contract at the higher level it has caused an almighty reliance on loan keepers and kept 2 average / injury prone keepers on our wage bill.
