So for years and years we've been secretly funded by the Merchant Venturers to support the faith in the Blue side of the city against the evil forces of Red, without any declaration of the investment in the mandatory accounts, and now someone who is a Governor at the UWE has resigned from the Bristol Sport board. Following this, the Brothers want to declare war on the invaders from the Middle East who have stolen the power base and unleashed dark forces. In other news, Bilbo Baggins still has hairy feet and Gollum has just found The One Ring. That's not even half of it.

From what I know it is nothing to do with the rugby mob south of the river, nor any UWE wonder boys looking for a niche.
As I said earlier he's a rugby guy NORTH of Bristol. No more clues though as it is not a certainty at this stage.

No more clues though as it is not a certainty at this stage. Well to start, I am not ITK. But I have read that a Syrian guy who owns Montpellier Rugby in France, is looking to buy 55% share in Gloucester Rugby. However the rules state that he can't own more than 50% share in two teams, so he may pull out of that deal. Could be that he is known to Wael & his family, and have been approached to come on board? As I say, I know nothing, I am just playing a guessing game based on your clues Gasincider. Probably totally wrong of course, but hey I didn't start it :-)

Yes, but not only that - an ex Bristol Sport director (resigned on 7th Oct). He's got money, and if I'm translating Bert's gibberish correctly, he wants part ownership of the uwe stadium. Seems BT is inferring now the that ALQ's want out and the UWE are going to finance the stadium with us being simply tenants, although if that's the case why is Wael messing about trying to get pp for a training ground? I assumed it would be ex Rovers player from the MV's merchantventurers.com/about-us/membership/john-laycock/ ? a good business/sports man

The only reason I can think of that would explain a billionaire rugby man getting involved with Rovers is to enable a Gloucestershire Sport style scenario I can't see this guy wanting to get involved in football when he seems a rugby follower, although Gloucester's present owner has been a previous Hull City Director and seems to like getting involved in raising finance. plus didn't new Director Mike Turner suggest he was a Gloucester RFC fan when he joined us recently? www.gloucesterrugby.co.uk/news/12260.php#.WDgVtPmyNBc

I do question the motives of any Rovers supporter who chooses to post on OTIB, but looking at "Bert Tann's" posts, he is a particularly odd case. Purporting to be a Rovers fan, using "us" and "we" he does all he can to discredit or undermine the club. Strikes me that it is all an act and his story of silent Merchant Venturer support is nothing more than a Dan Brown type fantasy. On the other hand, if you don't here from me for some time, you'll know that I've been kidnapped by the MV's elite guard and held prisoner in the crypt of St Mary Redcliffe.

HG was suggesting the UWE intended putting somebody on the Board and they are closely linked with the MV's, although that seems a different suggestion than GI's making regarding the North of Bristol rugby link, but why has Booy suddenly quit Bristol Sport if it's not to join our Board??

Don't know about that, but he was one of 3 resignations from the Bristol Sport Limited Board last month (Dawe and Harman being the others). Chris Booy is still Chairman of Bristol Rugby club and, given their plight, he has got plenty on his plate there. He also seems to have disappeared from the Board of Governors at UWE - he is no longer listed on the website, although I can't find an announcement to that effect.

This is what I've heard:— The Syrian-born billionaire Mohed Alfred, who is attempting to take over Gloucester Rugby Club is good friends with Wael and they are looking to get him on board. We are also selling Taylor and/or Harrison in Jan, however, large funds will be made available to strengthen the team. It was pretty believable until you talked about selling Harrison

If true then Mohed Altrad would be able to provide the cement mixers, scaffolding and wheelbarrows for the UWE!!! Mohed Altrad of Altrad Group from France named EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015MONACO, 7 JUNE 2015. Mohed Altrad, the founder and CEO of Montpelier-based Altrad Group, was last night named EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015 at an awards ceremony held in Monaco's Salle des Etoiles. Mohed was picked from among the 65 country winners from 53 countries vying for the title. Mohed Altrad, who was born into a Bedouin tribe in Syria, moved to France aged 17 and went on to gain a PhD in Computer Sciences. He and a partner bought a nearly bankrupt scaffolding maker in 1985 to form the basis of what is now Altrad Group. Mohed developed the company through acquisitions and organic growth and in 2014 generated nearly US$1b in sales and employed nearly 7,000 people in 110 subsidiaries throughout the world. The company, which is the world leader in cement mixers and a European leader in scaffolding and wheelbarrows, will reach US$1.13b in revenues by 2016. Mohed is also President of Montpellier Hérault Rugby Club. Rebecca MacDonald, founder and Executive Chair of Just Energy Group, Chair of the World Entrepreneur Of The Year judging panel says: "This year it was a tough but ultimately unanimous decision. Mohed has built a hugely successful, fast-growing international business having overcome a humble and very challenging upbringing. He was forbidden from going to school as a child, moved to France to set up a new life and is now one of the country's most successful entrepreneurs. The judges were impressed by his ability to build and sustain growth over 30 years and by his humility and character." Mohed Altrad, says: "I'm so honored to receive this prestigious award, especially as there was strong competition from such outstanding entrepreneurs around the world. I want to dedicate this award to everyone, as the objective of life is to help humanity. My story should tell anyone that you can change your destiny." Maria Pinelli, EY's Global Vice Chair – Strategic Growth Markets, says: "Mohed is an inspirational entrepreneur who demonstrates that determination and perseverance can overcome adversity. He has grown his businesses consistently over a long period of time and is now a beacon for other entrepreneurs in France and beyond to follow." Mark Weinberger, Global Chairman & CEO of EY, concludes: "Entrepreneurs are a crucial engine of economic recovery and job growth. Mohed is a truly inspiring World Entrepreneur Of The Year winner. He demonstrates the tenacity and sense of purpose that so many of our 64 other country winners possess and which helps them build a better working world." www.altrad.com/gb/group-altrad-chairman#.WDiqiVwzvcs

I made this up, I was just guessing from what I read & prompted by Gasincider's 'clue'. Hang on, perhaps I didn't make it up, perhaps I am ITK or some kind of prophet? Just in case I'll share this with you all, Ronaldo & Messi are replacing Taylor & Harrison in the Jan window - source? In my dreams last Tues night
