I said it at the start of the season, and I'll say it again.
Taylor is the only current Rovers player who will score more than 10 league goals for us.
If he goes, we will need two top strikers to come in, and we know how hard it is to find one.
So thats 1/2 strikers, a center back and a goalkeeper at the very least.
I suspect now we'll see how committed WAQ is in the transfer market.

Seems a very sensible approach. Try what we had and that had worked. Replace as necessary. If we can stay mid table and make the improvements then all to the better.
Fingers crossed.

You did, and I can remember I argued that Gaffers and Ellis would pass the 10 mark, I still think Gaffers can, but not so sure about Ellis tbh. A very sensible attitude from DC, half of the season to assess what we've got and what we need, hopefully a couple of 'quality' signings will be coming in, not sure we need a centre half myself but playing the same partnership for a run of games would help us know this for sure, hopefully with JCS out for a while now we can see Hartley and Locks get a run together to build an understanding.

Squad assembled for 50 grand. Does that mean that Nathan blisset is 50 grand more expensive than the rest of our squad put together!

A major scenario for January revolves around Taylor.
If he stays we need a new spine to the team first and foremost. A keeper, a centreback and a tall striker who might at odd times manage to head a corner or free kick. We certainly don't have one at the moment.
If Taylor goes we still need the above and replace him. Depending on the money available, we still need a good winger and a right back.
In truth most of OUR players will need replacing shortly, but as it's a three year project build it two of three players per transfer window.
The most interesting point will be how much our owner puts in. We made about £3-400k from the Chelsea match, so if Taylor goes, and we add that to the pot, what extra will be included?
However, the biggest point to prove is how good is DC when it comes to spending money? This is the biggest item missing on his managerial expertise CV.

Agree with most of this, apart from the Centre back, I really think Hartley is good enough for this league and would give Tom some much needed experience next to him. I think we may see 2 or 3 come in Jan, but there will be a lot of movement in the summer I expect, I'd imagine most if not all of the players that were given a contract on the back of promotion last year were only given 1 year deals and a large majority being let go at the end of the season, also if 3 come in Jan then surely we will need to get rid of a few because we have big enough squad before getting anyone else in.

Good timing following a 1-5 defeat! Hardly anyone (apart from the undroppables) has been given a run of games so I cant see how anyone can determine them good enough for this league?
