Not good enough. Sinclair is the better option. He was not excellent last year at all, he shouts points and chases shadows. Top bloke, good pro, but not the answer. He along with a few others are rightly being phased out after earning 1 year extensions last season. Our personnel has remained the same since we were doing ok a month ago. There's no need for panic or sweeping changes. A couple of fresh signings in January will see us comfortable in this division. Odd how he wasn't the better option in our last two promotion seasons? Whilst Sincs covers every blade of grass the fact that we're shipping so many goals lately does you make wonder if somebody in the Manse mould maybe more effective alongside Lines.

Manse hasn't had a chance. Him alongside Lines from Christmas made a big difference. I hope he gets the chance and let's be honest it can't be much worse than the last few matches. I am seriously surprised he hasn't played, I kind of presumed he wasn't match fit and with all the midfielders we've got just couldn't get a place. Pretty sure he won't let us down but as he would sit in front of the back four perhaps DC has decided Ollie C is the better option. UTG! I thought Ollie Clarke was the best of our midfielders on Saturday. As well as being the best tackler of the four of them, he looked very comfortable on the ball and did little wrong when he had the ball. He doesn't have the experience of Mansell and probably doesn't communicate or organise as well as him which is maybe what we need to stop shipping goals. But I think it would be very harsh if OC lost his place after Saturday. UTG

UTG in that instance you could also ask is their a benefit to playing Manse and Ollie to bolster the middle and allow the likes of Bodin and Montano to get on with whatever needs doing attack wise?
Ollie is always capable of getting forward and having a dig as well at times.
I think we have a lot of Cente-midfield options but we don't seem to have found the right balance yet. I don't think any of our players aren't good enough as such, but this year finding the right combo seems to be harder. I some respects perhaps we have too many options

I agree that Ollie Clarke can do a good job for us but he can also be so inconsistent. He had a good game Saturday but is just as likely to be terrible as he is brilliant again. If we could rely on him he'd be an easy choice.

If we could rely on him he'd be an easy choice. Agree with this. I've seen Ollie give MOTM performances numerous times during his Rovers career and he was one of our better players on Saturday. Unfortunately these great performances are normally followed by a poor one where he makes little or no impact at all. You never know what you're going to get. I can't remember the matches in question but earlier this season he was superb one week and awful the next. He needs to find more consistency if he's going to stay at the Gas. As for Mansell, I personally think that like McChrystal age has caught up with him and his legs have gone. Both great servants to the club but they are not the answer now.

I think Manse deserves a chance. His record with Lines in a 2 is phenomenal. Manse is a fantastic communicator on the pitch and is always in the refs ear. His presence and game management skills have been a loss for the team this season.

That's my point whilst he was fit he was once again undroppable as soon as he was injured we went on long unbeaten runs with Manse & Lines in the middle, surely two consecutive seasons with similar outcomes must tell you and DC something? If Manse legs have gone DC has made a big error in not getting in a suitable experienced replacement in the summer, as bar Lines we have too many CM's of similar ability, SS/LM/HB/CC/OC/JE/LL(!) but no obvious partner for CL in the Manse of old role. as the Lines & Sincs partnership didn't work even in the Conference. .

DC should definitely give Manse and Linsey who actually got us up last year a chance against Barrow; why does he play Sinclair ? who whenever he wins the ball, immediately plays it backwards or side ways.We will only know if Manse legs have gone when he plays. Ollie Clarke is best coming off the bench IMO. And Manse has got far more than the beard, who will run all day and get absolutely nowhere.

Worryingly I agree with your views for a change, Manse must be on a decent contract given his age/experience it's all odd why him and the others of a similar ilk, Mildy, McM & LL(assuming he's not still injured?) have seemingly been frozen out this season but were all regulars last season.

Something occurred to me the other day when thinking about the undroppables and the captaincy etc...
Maybe DC is building for the future. For instance, maybe TL isn't a great captain now, but if he's given the responsibility he'll grow into a great captain in one or two seasons time.
Maybe DC feels Manse is the best option currently, but for the future Rovers it is best to allow Sincs and OC to play and improve their game.

Yeah, if DC sees his next job as a three year plan, and he has been given the trust to achieve that sort of longevity and stability (a rare thing in the modern game) then it would make sense to err on the side of players who would have a chance of being here in three years.

It's all about opinions but for me Mansell & Lines have been our best combination for the past two years. I respect Sinclair work ethic but for me he has a lack of quality, and I called out at the time that in both seasons our form improved when Sinclair got injured and Lines/Mansell became the preferred pairing. Clark can be good but lacks consistency and so for me he, like Sinclair is a good squad player but not yet the main man! I fail to see how anyone can assess Mansell's legs as gone, he got injured preseason and has not yet had a chance. I would like to see a Lines/Mansell combo be given a run of 4 or 5 games, we can introduce Sinclair/Clark if we really need fresh legs for the last 20 minutes

Unless Manse appears to have shot his bolt in training, then he deserves a chance to prove he can handle league1.More important to get Charlie in the team in his preferred role of playmaker imo, like that Walsall midget did.

DC sees Mansell in training every day and if he thought Mansell could hack it in this league, or improve us in any way, he would 100% be playing him when fit.

I have always felt this season, so long as we avoid a relegation fight, is a free season to experiment a bit and it looked as if we could have a go at promotion and play-offs. We still might, this teams spirit and never-say-die-attitude never fails to amaze me. But I have never felt we were in the top 5 teams in this league and that others eventually would be better than us. But I love this squad and what they've done and as you say I think DC is building for the future all the time. If at the end of the season we've got 4/5/6 players who are proved good enough i would be happy and I would expect a very busy summer. January, unless MT goes or unless December is as bad as November, will be relatively quiet I think. UTG!

Well he saw Mildenhall in training every day last season but how picked him when he had no choice? I can't see how a player can go from being a regular in a top 3 promotion team to not even worthy of a place on the bench, without picking up a serious injury, in the space of a few months. DC has this odd habit of not giving certain players a chance but picking others week in, week out regardless of their form. As far as Locks being one for the future if his confidence gets shot but too much responsibility at too young an age it won't do anybody any good, Parkes seemed OK until he was given the captaincy at a similar age. I still don't get how a youngster can have more knowledge of the game than the likes of Lines & Hartley.

Since Campbell left we haven't had a leader on the pitch - you never see someone dragging the game by the scruff - and you never see/hear someone rallying the troops.

Somebody bl00dy rallied us against Accrington!! Not forgetting the two seasons before that where we went from failures one season to promotion challengers.
