Looking at our February fixtures, we're playing all of the teams currently occupying the top 5 places. Will the doom and gloomers, be out saying the wheels have fallen off the wagon again, if we fail to get maximum points?

Port Vale away in between is not an easy game either. Will be a real test. I'd be happy with 2 wins.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I'd be over the moon with 9 points from the 6 fixtures.

But after those games we will have a run of games that we have the potential to win and seal a respectable position in our first season in League 1

This team on their day can beat anyone. Time for a ground breaking goal. Eleven games. 33 points to play for.
Ground Breaking Goal: Excess of 26 pts Stretching Goal: Excess of 24pts Realistic Goal: Excess of 20pts Security Goal: Excess of 18pts
What can we achieve?

This thread scares me a bit! I think concentrating on January's fixtures first might be the best course of action!

Results against the top clubs generally sorts the men from the boys, and currently we are boys.
We've only beaten one team above us and that was only fleetwood when they were struggling.
So, as someone else wrote, let's get loads of points in Jan, strengthen and then we'll be able to cope with Feb whatever the outcome.

Not sure what you mean by this posting - so if we don't win all 5 games and get max points against the current 5 top teams then the doom and bloomers will be out. I think anyone at this stage of the season would suggest those 5 games will be a hard task and some will moan if we only manage to draw every one. Moaners will moan regardless but whilst this team never cease to amaze I think it would be unrealistic for any team to expect to win 5 out of 5 back to back against your main rivals for promotion/ play off positions

Every season we hit a run of fixtures like this, remember when we were in the lower half of the Conference, or the beginning of last season. On both occasions we had a tough patch of games, and a section of supporters were seriously down on the team. That's my point.

Well, our recent run of poor results came against teams mostly below us.

Those 5 teams might have changed league position by then.

Those 5 teams might have changed league position by then. Agree 79. And after January, all the teams could be stronger or weaker, including us.

As you seem to appreciate, we'll see where we are after 46 games, not 28th February.

I think January could be as tricky because all though we play top sides at home in February this thread reassures me - " Rovers home league record for calendar year 2016 "
January signings are going to be key as to whether we could sneak in to the top 6 at the end of the season :-)
Happy New Year fellow Gasheads.

Looking at the top 5, Scunny have won once in 5 games and Bradford 1 win in 7 games, so those two are hardly in great from at the moment, Bolton away could be tough but Sheff Utd at home could be one of our biggest games since we were last in Div 1.

The club shop should sell DC speaking dolls for a lot of fans. You know, the one that says: "one project at a time...look no further than the next match......get the party poppers out...as low as a snake's wotsit"

Even though our current position is better than the mid-table safety everyone seemed to agree would be perfectly fine when we were promoted. God knows how fierce the meltdown would have been if we were struggling in this league.
