Results against the top clubs generally sorts the men from the boys, and currently we are boys. We've only beaten one team above us and that was only fleetwood when they were struggling. So, as someone else wrote, let's get loads of points in Jan, strengthen and then we'll be able to cope with Feb whatever the outcome. i remember people saying that last year when our results were pretty poor v portsmouth, plymouth, accrington and oxford but guess what? we got promoted

I fully expect us to go on a run again in the 2nd half of the season, but let's not get too carried away. This time last season we had 40 points, and the 1st placed team was only 9 points ahead of us, rather than the 14 Scunthorpe have over us now.

We had a good run against form teams at the top of the table back at the start of the season so it would be daft to say we can't do the same now. Especially with DC's gas sides historically kicking on in the second half of the season.

Every season we hit a run of fixtures like this, remember when we were in the lower half of the Conference, or the beginning of last season. On both occasions we had a tough patch of games, and a section of supporters were seriously down on the team. That's my point. So you're talking sh** then, there wasn't 5 good teams in the conference let alone 5 good teams that we played on the trot. You sound the short of person who quietly accepts playing one of the worst teams in the division in the grip of an injury crisis and not even getting a shot on target.

Whoa, who's gotten out of the wrong side of bed this morning? I wasn't counting the number of teams, just making the point that when we get on a bad run against good teams, a lot of people think the world had ended. At least I can spell.

Looking at our February fixtures, we're playing all of the teams currently occupying the top 5 places. Will the doom and gloomers, be out saying the wheels have fallen off the wagon again, if we fail to get maximum points? So, January is now out the way. We came through it with a record of P5 W2 D0 L3 F9 A10 Pts6 Maybe a little disappointing after a cracking end to last year, but could have been worse. How do we feel now about our February run of games: Rochdale (a) ~ 6th Bradford (h) ~ 5th Sheff Utd (h) ~ 2nd Port Vale (a) ~ 18th Scunthorpe (h) ~ 1st Bolton (a) ~ 3rd

I fancy three wins from that lot - and three away defeats - we are a black and white team at the mo (Mem) ent

Fancy 12 points at least from this, nothing to fear in this league when we're on it.

We've had 15 points from the last 10 games, despite all the away defeats. Keep it up and we should be good at the end of the season for 66-68 points. Not quite enough for the playoffs, but a solid 7th-10th place.

Another transfer window and we can be pushing on. Hopefully off the field (UWE) will also push on.

TBH I'd be happy with 2 draws and 1 or 2 wins. I just don't think we're amongst the best 6 teams so a mid table/ upper mid table will be great and if we got that in Feb we will be there. UTG!

No we are not amongst the best; unless our new players are better than I think, so I agree, if we make mid/upper mid table it will be a great platform to push on next season.

Agree. If we get 1/2 players in this window who strengthen us and recruit well in the summer then we may have a good enough team to push on next season to be a serious threat in the top half. I liked the way Sweeney played today, the keeper was sound and we've not even seen Partington yet and I know he will be good defensively. UTG!

Brutal month. If we can nab a win at Port Vale on Saturday we'll be in good shape.

I agree a win Port Vale would set us up nicely although I think we will beat Scunny at home they have not been at their best lately and they won't fancy coming to the Mem at the moment as our record speaks for itself. Still plenty to play for in my eyes great to see we seem to have sorted out our defensive problems (touch wood!) We just need the stadium good news now and everything will be tickety boo & jolly hockey sticks!
