But little signs of any real investment in a squad which, has you say, was playing Conference football 2 years ago? Even though it's DC who keeps on talking about a top 6 finish. I'm starting to think the Al Qadi's have lost interest in spending serious money at Rovers now that they've realised they can't get the UWE land at a reasonable price. At the moment apart from clearing the wonga loan we don't seem to be in any better shape than we would have been under NH, manager, squad and Mem wise but perhaps all the work is going on behind the scenes, who knows. What do you class as spending 'serious' money?
The Al-Qadi's are investment bankers. They will not spend money for the sake of it
Something more than the likes of NH would have been expected to spend if they had remained in charge? I don't think Hammer helped by talking up our chances of being the next Swansea or Bournemouth following the takeover as we're not going to become a Premiership side without one serious investment.

all sounds good to me the problem is with most of us after the last 2 seasons we expected to go straight through this league into the Championship, looking at the teams around us it is an outside bet but the best bet would be consolidation bring in the right people and push hard next season . my biggest concerns are keeping hold of matty and getting a decent keeper

The way I see it is we are still assessing our options as regards to ground and won't show our hand until we have a pocket pair. I think the Wael wants slow progression until the stadium is built or on the way to being built then you may see more ambition. Until then we will just look to progress with not overly investing. But how many times have we been disappointed with DC's signings, after Shrewsbury he was talking about major changes now it's just 1 or 2.

There is no point making signings if when they sign he then doesn't think they are good enough to play in even half of the games or spend most of their period with us in the stands. If you look at all the loans we have had and even some of the permanents how many have actually improved the team in the longer term- not many when yopu consider that most of the regulars have been with us since the Conference. For me Darrell's rotation system is going to put off a lot of players joining us and as for loans I can't see a lot of clubs wanting their players to join us and be sat in the stands or on the bench every week. For me it seems Darrell is willing to wait for his "first choices" until summer but how would most fans see his signings last summer as being good business? IMO any signing we make should be good enough to go straight into the team to replace those players who are not up to the task. I certainly hope we are not going to have to bite our nails all season watching Puddy in goal!! My message would be on signings that if DC doesn't think he can get anybody better than we have at the right price then at least play the best 11 we can put out every game and get some consistency from the players we have. I really get fed up of hearing about how important the information he is given by fitness coaches in and then see him play Lawrence and Mansell together where surely Lines, Ollie Clarke, Monty,Bodin would have been fitter even after a game 48 hors earlier.

Everyone I know had expectations of a cosy midtable finish with no concerns about a relegation fight. My only concern now is having started well that we may finish the season poorly and still finish in a cosy midtable position. If that happens, finishing poorly, it inevitably in most cases carries over into the next season.

I'm expecting us to get rid of a significant number of players in the summer, so any good/bad finish to the season won't really make a difference if the majority of those playing a part in it are no longer at the club.

Really? It sounds more like code for there's actually a bit of money to spend but I wont't be watering it up the wall unless I can get the players I want because last time the club did that it nearly went out of existence. I'm also not sure when you're planning on dying but we've moved up two divisions in two years already. Not exactly asking over the odds for DC, Wael and the squad to be given the grace of at least one season without a promotion or the building of a stadium in the next 12 months. At the moment apart from clearing the wonga loan we don't seem to be in any better shape than we would have been under NH, manager, squad and Mem wise. Well, for a start DC would be Leeds' manager and Taylor would be at Oxford if we were still under Higgs.

And we'd probably still be throwing millions at trying to take-on Sainsburys.

I'll disagree on that because otherwise the solution for a club finishing poorly would always be just need to clear the decks and start again. Not that easy I'm afraid. Winning or losing becomes habit forming key is to avoid it becoming a habit (in terms of losing) which so far we have but need to continue that for the rest of the season.

Not sure about DC not going to Leeds had anything to do with money and NH would have probably out paid Oxford. Overall, squad wise, you sense so far this season we're well within the budget NH use to send/waste. We clearly need a decent experienced goalie, competition in central defence and midfield plus, ideally, an experienced CF or at least a good loan striker in the Eaves or Hitchcock mould. Given we're only a win or so behind the Play Off spots why settle now for a mid table finish?

I don't think he'd have had that same faith/belief under NH. 2) NH would have probably struggled to out-pay Oxford while chucking thousands down the drain on the Wonga, Sainsbury's case etc.

I said at the start I'd be happy with a mid-table finish, looks like that's what were getting.

I think our evolution in playing staff is better to start now than wait until the summer and then we have too many new faces coming in all at the same time.
Surely we need to be a bit ambitious now, if want to compete by bringing the right players in.
what frustrates me is why are we unable to sign targets early. We always wait until deadline day and it gives the impression we sign players that other clubs have found an alternative.

That's got to be down to DC hoping to pick up a bargain when players get desperate? But probably ends up us paying over the odds when we get desperate, I really thought Wael would give us some buying power, at least at Div 1 level.
