Apparently we are interested in the highly rated Eastleigh full back. Wouldn't surprise me as this is the kind of player dc likes. Luton and Doncaster both interested.

Looking at Twitter, some bloke from the S*n reckons we're signing him but elsewhere he's been linked to Luton. Could probably do with another (big) defender (6'2) but can't say I know anything about him. Has played with Ryan Clarke, David Pipe and Adam Dawson so it's possible he knows a bit about us.

Would be a decent signing it seems, rated at Eastleigh and he's played consistently since getting a couple of injuries at Bournemouth when he last played at this level

Haven't heard this one but I remember him from his time at Bournemouth. Eddie H must have rated him because he always seemed to get another contract despite his injuries. I think he only left when they got promotion to the Championship and with all the changes going on at Eastleigh he must be one of the few who is still there from our season in the Conference. I suspect we could do a lot worse because he will be grounded and have a very good attitude and can play a bit as well. Think he would be a DC-type player. UTG!

I have been told that he was at the Mem Today, i checked the validity of the comment and it seemed to be legit.
He looks like a DC player and is playing well below his level really, plus at 26 he has his best years ahead

Great news, glad we are trying to sign players hungry to progress rather than those looking for a last payday on the way down.

This would certainly command a fee if Wikipedia is anything to go by - on 25 July 2016 Eastleigh manager Chris Todd persuaded Partington to sign an extension to his contract that will keep him at the club until July 2018.

why wouldnt we win a bidding war? topper? DC's only two previous signings for money were Bliss & Gaffney, both strikers, I just can't see DC paying a transfer fee for a full back, particularly if we have to outbid Luton.

Bristol Rovers close in on deal for Eastleigh defender Joe Partington Bristol Rovers are closing in on a deal for Eastleigh defender Joe Partington. The Post understands that manager Darrell Clarke is close to completing his first signing of the January transfer window after a bid was accepted by the National League club. Rovers look set to beat off competition from a host of clubs for the in-demand right-back's signature who still has 18 months of his contract to run at Eastleigh. The defender, 26, started his career as a youth at Portsmouth but was released without making an appearance and joined Bournemouth in 2007. He played over 50 times for Bournemouth – mostly in League One – before being released and signing for Eastleigh in 2015. He has played over 70 times and scored four goals for the Spitfires. Partington, who has represented Wales at Under 21 level, had been peaking the interest of League Two promotion hopefuls Luton Town and Doncaster Rovers as well as Scottish club Partick Thistle.

He looks like a DC player and is playing well below his level really, plus at 26 he has his best years ahead And although he played CH and has been a defender for Eastleigh when he was younger he played in midfield for Bournemouth and did so for many years. So I guess he would be adaptable and from what I remember having seen his games for Bournemouth he is comfortable on the ball. UTG!

Well to say "a bid was accepted by the National League club." seems pretty genuine to me.

The evil post is an awful paper but they do get fed information from the club so this is probably based on genuine evidence.
