Eastleigh supporter here. Just to say nearly everyone at the club is devastated that Joe is leaving and that's not an exaggeration. My son had his name and number on his shirt for Christmas and cried when I told him the news, he is only six though. Hopefully he will settle into your team quickly and become the player we loved at our club. I would probably put him in the top three or four players we've had at the silverlake. Best of luck for the rest of the season and I hope you reach the playoffs. I think our chance has gone now. Although you never know in football. I feel your pain, my youngest thought Matty Harrold was the best player ever after chatting to him at a Pre Season Friendly, still wont acceot Matty Taylor is a better player even now! (Though he is only 9) Are you sure he isn't tbone in disguise?

Congrats on making your debut lad !! Interesting to hear how he did after coming on. Played right of a three with Locks in the middle and J Clark on the left. In truth apart from the 3rd goal he had very little defending to do. He had a few touches and made a few passes. 2 long passes that failed to reach their target and a couple of short passes on the floor that got intercepted. the rest of his passes were either sideways to Locks or probing passes forward or into midfield. Not much more to say to be fair.

I say give him a start next Saturday our away form these last couple of months has been shocking defensively, keep things the same more or less up front and sort out our defensive problems and we could well have ourselves a play off place this season.

I haven't read the whole of this thread, but I wonder if this lad is one of DC's first choice targets?
I only say this because I seem to remember it being reported that firm enquirers had been lodged with a couple of Championship clubs.
I'm not criticising this signing in any way, and it might well be that DC has been working on this one for a while and kept it quiet to avoid sparking other clubs interest.

Problem as I see it is that we already have enough Conference players who are bordering on decent First Division players but what we need to bolster us now is some experienced League players preferably big physical guys who can give us a physical edge particularly in the Centre half and goalkeeper areas and be good enough to play in the Championship to edge us forward in the quality stakes. DC must prove still that he has the ability to make these signings still because personally although the latest signing may prove to be a good one it has not answered the defensive problems we have and really with the problems we have back there it doesn't matter what team or formation he selects you are going to struggle with a goalkeeper who is Conference at best and defenders who are not exactly helping the keeper. There are positives at the moment but the truth is to really see how good we are in front of the defence you need to have a solid base but it will cost and the big question is are the owners willing to pay the money to edge us towards the huge gap between the First Division and the Championship a bit at a time.

I think this was signing was a reaction to Hartley getting injured. Could be that he is still working on his original targets. Still a couple of weeks to square away business in the transfer market.
