Hang on, I thought Wael didn't make any cash available for players? And was about to do a runner?

The signing of Joe Partington is very interesting. Plus points are can play Rb and Cb Eastleigh Captain so i take that he is a good communicator strong header of the ball. Highly rated. Minus points are injury prone. So I will give the lad 6 games until I make a proper assessment. Paying a fee for him is interesting though. On a footnote hope we can get a quality keeper before Fleetwood game

I reckon the real reason DC has signed him is because they both live just outside Eastleigh, so DC now has someone to put his kit in his car at the Mem when the coach gets back from Fleetwood in the early hours Sunday morning. Then he will have someone to talk to on the way home. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

Just noticed he got sent off a couple of games ago. Hope he's not on the verge of a ban. Came across well in his interview. Hope we have found another diamond.

I quite like how in the interview he still seems to identify himself with Eastleigh - shows he isn't fickle imo. Comes across very well, look forward to seeing him in action!

Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that Club Captain Joe Partington has today left the Club and joined Bristol Rovers for a club record transfer fee. The Club gave Joe permission to speak with Bristol Rovers yesterday following an offer which activated a release clause in his contract. The Club were in negotiations to extend Joe’s contract further, however with such a high level of interest being shown from teams higher up the Pyramid it was always likely that his would be difficult to conclude. Joe has been an extremely popular member of the squad since signing and has made over 100 appearances for the Club. He has conducted himself impeccably and is fully deserving of the opportunity to return to the Football League. Whilst the Club are extremely disappointed to lose Joe, we are absolutely delighted for him personally. It is a fantastic move, to a super Club and we wish Joe well for the future and thank him for all his efforts whilst at our Club. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bristol Rovers for the manner in which they approached the signing of Joe and especially that of their manager Darrell Clarke What a nice statement. Almost made me cry. Welcome to Rovers Joe.

Great interview. This part was a personal highlight:
Interviewer: Where do you play? JP: Where the manager wants me to play, it's not for me to tell him. Interviewer: Do you have a preference of where you play? JP: Preferably on the pitch.
Seems to have a great attitude. Think we may have found another gem. UTG!

I thought it was a very good interview. Good articulate answers and he obviously knows quite a bit about us. Right kind of signing, a youngish player on his way up wanting to impress. Having been at Bournemouth and Eastleigh he will be grounded and aware of the opportunity he has. Welcome Joe. UTG!

By gamble I mean going up 2 divisions. Joe has played about 25 games in League 1 for Bournemouth and a similar number in League 2* for them as a youngster, so not entirely untried. He's been at Eastbourne, Aldershot and a couple of good seasons at Eastleigh as their captain. By all accounts he has really impressed at Eastleigh with both performance and attitude. Seems like a signing with plenty of potential to me. *amazing ho recently Bournemouth were in L2 and struggling - just look at them now. Shows what a good manager with sound backing can do.

A good addition in my eyes, with hopefully his best years ahead of him, welcome to the club Joe. Also like the way that Eastleigh thank us and DC for the way we conducted ourselves in going about the transfer, always good to hear, I remember the chairman down there saying how good we were when we played them as well, fair play to him/them, haven't got to say those things and you don't usually hear them, just another sign that we've really got a top bloke in charge. www.eastleighfc.com/2014/10/01/message-from-the-chairman-a-message-to-bristol-rovers/Following our fixture last night I felt compelled to write to Bristol Rovers today regarding the conduct of their supporters. It was obviously a huge night for Eastleigh as we knew that largely due to your support we would be expecting a record league attendance. Obviously the numbers are not comparable to yourselves but being new to the league we are adjusting to the need to cope with and control a much larger number of fans than we were previously used to. Your supporters could have made this a difficult night for us but quite the contrary behaved in an exemplary manner. They were an absolute credit to your club. Fans arrived in huge numbers, were well mannered and contributed massively to what was a special night for our club. Obviously historically you are used to arriving at better facilities than we are currently able to offer but this presented no issues for your supporters, they were understanding, considerate and just supported the team in a well spirited sporting manner. I would like to pass on our appreciation to all your fans for their conduct. It is hugely appreciated and I look forward to the return fixture in March, hopefully we will still be within four points of you by then! Stewart Donald

Agree - he's hardly missed a game for Eastleigh since he signed for them. Injury as a youngster may have hindered his progress, but he has matured and toughened up by the looks.
