Is this a genuine article or have the B Post just lifted it from info posted on this thread, I still can't understand why DC would pay a fee for a RB, when we really need a goalie, CB's and a CM as priorities. He's not a RB, more CB and CDM Can he play in goal??

Looks on paper a quality signing, maybe Chris Hargreaves knew him at Bournemouth when he did some coaching there, hope he signs ASAP remember Clive platt!

Great news, glad we are trying to sign players hungry to progress rather than those looking for a last payday on the way down. Yep, it's a policy that has worked well last couple of seasons. Some fans will still moan that we are not going for big names because overpaid journeymen coming down the leagues have really helped the last few years....

This rumour seems to be gathering speed and credibility. Would be unusual for the BBC to post it if it were not true. Imo good signing, has a good attitude, has had a good grounding and will not rock any team spirit. Good versatility in both defence and midfield. UTG!

He's captain at Eastleigh. Will he expect to be captain here? As we already have Macca and Lockyer as captains. Or will dc appoint a new captain to captain the captains ??

Is he the sort of player who could play where Mansell did ? thats where Rovers need someone I think,to take the pressure off of the defence,if he can pass accurately as well he sounds great.

If he's 6' 2" & versatile then surely it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility he could also be 'converted' to centre back, or used in a back 3, or even as a relatively tall & more defensively minded right back, a bit like Locks was in conference.
If we lack height & strength at set pieces then wherever he plays that might also be a bonus.

From Wiki:
Partington's contract was extended by a further two years in June 2013 by current manager Eddie Howe who has stated that he is keen for Partington to covert to a centre half. To assist him in this on 1 January 2014 he signed for Conference Premier team Aldershot Town on a month's loan after turning down two League clubs who wanted to sign him as a central midfielder.[3]
Has been playing right back recently for Eastleigh but when he went there on loan he played centre back to start with. God knows where he might play for us, but it's fair to say that Howe knows a thing or two about developing a player, so if he saw him as a centre back maybe Darrell might have an eye on this as his best position?

About 3/4 years since he played for Bournemouth but pretty sure when they were in League 2 he was a defensive midfielder who EH converted into a defender in the back 4. Was comfortable on the ball, passed fairly well but was a young player who never seemed to make it and really suffered from injuries. But despite the injuries was always given a new contract and must have had a couple of contracts at Bournemouth so EH must have rated him. When they got promoted to Championship I think they realised he wouldn't play and so did he and he wanted to so he moved on. Pretty sure he was on loan at Eastleigh before signing permanently. If true and it seems as if it is, I'm really happy because he's a good guy and would imagine he'll fit in well. A bit similar to Lee M without the experience and with being captain at Eastleigh would imagine he has grown well into the role with leadership qualities. Would imagine he could play defensive MF if DC wanted but I suspect defender might be his first position. UTG!
