I think it'd improve the feel and atmosphere of the UWE if we could incorporate something like this into it:
Gonna need a high roof to fit that one in the UWE stad. When the beard hangs up his boots he can go be the resident pirate on the ship...just give him a parrot and eyepatch/ pegleg
When the Beard hangs up his boots they'll cover that. UTG!

I'm afraid we will definitely lose some of that atmosphere when/if we move. It is synonymous with old grounds and you can't recreate it in the new style grounds. It's everything about the place. UTG I don't agree with that , it's the fans that make an atmosphere not a stadium....new or old. The acoustics at the Mem are hardly conducive to good atmosphere. Most of the 'noise' is lost anyway due to the open nature of the ground. I think ( & hope ) it will be better at our new ground ......if and when it ever gets built. Take a trip to trashton if you really want to see what happens when everyone is sat down. I was there V Blackburn and it was dire. They have tried very hard to get a section of the ground where they lead the singing etc in an attempt to try and do it like the Poles and others who have ppl who do nothing but have their backs to the game and lead the chants but it's awful. If you think that any UWE type ground can ever recreate the atmosphere of terraced grounds then I think you haven't really had the experience. When a goal comes then there is a brief rising from chairs and some clapping. Then, I'm not one who actually likes the idea of the UWE and loss of the pubs and pre match preamble. I'd be happy to see the mem redeveloped.

Assorted points:
- Mem only gets loud when more than the blackthorn sing. I sing, I'm on the dribuild terrace for the view but my heart is in there with the fans. Young ens and old uns also mean dribuild better for me.
- I feel standing encourages singing. You can all pack in together. I will miss that.
- Swansea is a good example BUT I have been to Cardiff new ground many times hospitality. It's good on a big game but very quiet on a normal Saturday. Ninian, as I remember it in the 90s, was always an intimidating and dangerous cauldron. Totally different now.
- my heart says Mem, old school but I have been won over by other arguments on here for a new stadium, if seats, so be it. The way I see it we have a choice. Either continue with the current level being the highest possible, with 82 stealing our best players, or compete. Competing means a new ground. Private time warp, however comforting, or beating City in the same league. No contest.
- all I hope is the board give us one thing, a say in how seating etc is organised. Priority to helping real fans group together, under the radar allowing standing in the "melee" behind goal. Safe standing, even if just a "plan for SS at some point". Let us fans have some say in the one thing we really are affected by. Allow us to maintain the vibe and sing, and we will help you create a fortres to spur the club on.

That's it I'm getting by drum out.... The key to creating an atmosphere is to have new songs/chants that are not heard anywhere else. Then you need about 10 mates who are all familiar with the new material and plonk yourselves into the middle of the Thatchers and off you go. Others will soon get drawn in by the fresh songs. We used to find that the new stuff originated largely on away days. Just as an example the thread earlier this week was about Mehewmajic's article, "everyone needs a beard", which reminded me about the 1997 song "brim full of asha" from Cornershop. It contained the line "everyone needs a bosom for a pillow" and I ended up putting Rovers related lyrics to that song with the chorus being about the Beards super human qualities still playing aged 65.
Beard keeps on playing 'til he's 35 Beard keeps on playing 'til he's 45 Beard keeps on playing 'til he's 55 Beard keeps on playing 'til he's 65
Side note: Bloody Cornershop; I had tickets to see them in the 90's but they got kicked out of their Marriott hotel and cancelled the gig. Wasters.

There's plenty of examples of good atmospheres at seated ground. Your counter argument of the teds is redundant....... They're the teds and it's always been a library

After the game we were getting into the coach when Cardiff broke through the police cordon and started beating anything in sight! I honestly sh!t myself. I hope I never experience anything like it again. Intimidating..... and some...

They're the teds and it's always been a library Having been there a fair few times, as my dad was a ref at a low level and got free tickets I can't let any hate cloud the reality that they can be loud and have always had bigger crowds since I was born and my grandad said it was always like that even in his day. Not denying they are vile but they can create noise ready for incoming lol

I can't see a grass car park working very well come mid October

I think it'd improve the feel and atmosphere of the UWE if we could incorporate something like this into it:
This description of stadium ship in action sounds fun & MOTD from studio in ship! One of the most recognizable features of the stadium is a 103-foot (31 m), 43-ton steel-and-concrete replica pirate ship, which fires replica cannons each time the Bucs score points or enter the other team's red zone. The cannon fires once for each point scored. In addition, when the Buccaneers enter their opponent's red zone, stadium hosts hoist team flags around the perimeter of the upper deck. During various times throughout the game, the song "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" is played on the stadium public address system (taken from Pirates of the Caribbean), which signals patrons on board the ship to throw beads, t–shirts, and other free prizes to the people below. The segment is also known as a "Mini Gasparilla" to most fans. An animated parrot sits on the stern of the pirate ship. Controlled by radio and remote control, the parrot picks fans out of the crowd and talks to those passing by.[11] During Super Bowl XXXV on CBS, the pregame, halftime, and postgame desk reporting took place from aboard the pirate ship. NBC's Super Bowl XLIII and ESPN's 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship coverages also emanated from the ship.
