Because without it where would we get some light relief from the serious world of Professional Football? Where else could you get such a laugh at one defeat after another whether it be the football or the Rugby and where else could you get one excuse after another? Where else could millions upon millions of pounds be wasted other than the Government? You may say how is this Gas related ?- Well it is because when we need something to spur us on to better things then think no further than "in five years time nobody will talk of Bristol Rovers" because in truth it is nobody talks about Bristol City because all you hear is Bristol Sport and what does that promote for our great City?- one defeat after another and another and another.
If you want a bigger laugh then look no further than the Hobbit and Europa Football in Five years. Now that really is revolution for you so to conclude EVOLUTION not revolution and lets thank God for what we have - hope and an owner who actually does live football. Long may it continue.

Sh*theads lose and City fan wanted to kill me Tonight's games Thank god for Bristol Sport and Steve Lansdown Am I on OTIB or something? 4 sh1t related threads in the top 8. Give it a f**king rest. Annoys me when people get all up on their high horse about the number of city threads. It's the same both ways and we obviously have a very keen interest in how they do and vice versa. It's natural and all this "I don't care about how they do I'm a gashead, let's not speak of them" is, on the whole, a load of rubbish. The two things are linked - our love for the gas leads to a natural hatred of the sh1t. They are in a more perilous position than they have been since their relegation a few years ago, and it's not like at that time we had much to shout about. So let gasheads enjoy their misery. We are closer to them than we have been in a loooong time so let's talk about that fact, let's embrace how good a time it is to be a gashead! And if that means ripping those inbreds to pieces then so be it! Plus, we're comfortable mid table, haven't had a mid week game and things are just ticking over nicely - is there a lot to talk about gas related? The "tonight's games" thread was actually started as gas related on Tuesday, it only turned into a city related thread last night as an extension of the midweek games. Not like a new city match thread was started. Anyway that's my tuppence worth. You can always ignore the threads. Up the gas. #mindthegap

However, I do understand where he is coming from in that you come on a gas related forum and the majority of posts are about the sh1t. I'm all for keeping up with how they are getting on and discussing them dropping down the table. But it can get a bit much at times. No talk about the sh1t is unrealistic, but too much can mean we stop thinking about our own team, I think the ideal level is somewhere inbetween. UTG!

Its absolutely amazing. Lansdown pumps money into Bristol City, persuades Bristol Rugby to re-locate to BS3, and what does he get. Yes, like it says above, defeat after defeat after defeat after defeat. 2 clubs coming under the banner of Bristol Sport doomed to relegation from their respective leagues. European football and rugby within 5 years??? Who's kidding who? 2 complete disasters. And they all laughed at the Gas when we got relegated to the Conference? For entertainment there nothing better the being at the Mem....long may it last!!! Up The Gas. Oh, just remind me. What or who is Bristol Sport? ??

For those interested I posted an interview from (the snake) Matty Taylor on here about his transfer that was very revealing In his comments on Bristol Rovers - it was moved to general sport section - not told why but know it was not done by Hugo, but I think it's well worth a read if you are interested

Lets just be careful here, the odd laugh is fine but we all know what a fickle mistress the footballing fates can be.
For me, Rovers have always been older and wiser - apart and above of all the boastfulness and braggardly behaviour of our noisy neighbour, and nodding sagely when all comes home to roost.
There's no need to scream 'I told you so' in thier faces, let them be and they'll realise it themselves, in time.

Have to agree with you, my interest in them has spiked significantly since the snake's departure and I want nothing more for them to go down now. A balance is needed, you are correct. But while the "4 posts in first 8 threads" was true at the time, I can't see another city related thread in the top 4 or 5 pages. We just so happen to be at a time where they have had a game which they lost and are perilously close to relegation having taken our top goalscorer less than 1 month ago vs our 4 draws on the spin, safe in midtable and nothing to write home about. Nicely summed up by the fact we are all discussing who to retain for next season in one thread near the top, and it's only February! (Not that I'm complaining)

They had this city for the taking and they've f**ked it up big time. Our drop to the conference and their redeveloped ground was their chance to really make true of their threat that one day no one would talk of us.
After all that money they've spent, and the little to date we have, we are on the cusp of taking them over not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. The most likely scenario has to be a derby in league one next season. A good end to the season this year and who knows? The training ground is on the way and the stadium and I'm faithful will end up breaking ground this year, both brand new facilities.
How is their downfall relevant to us? We've been in their shadow for a long time now, and to come back from where we were three years ago to close the gap is the stuff made of Hollywood and would be huge footballing news.
The way they have taunted us over the years, and laughed us off, dismissed our presence and quintessentially stolen our top scorer and in an ungracious manner, seemingly more to stunt our growth than to improve their team, makes it all the more sweet. Laughably, said player looks to me like one of their strongest players. We're nipping at their heels, stronger than we've been in a long time, and they can feel the heat.

To be fair they are still miles ahead of us off the pitch, which makes their failure on the pitch even more amusing
Lets hope they finish the job and we have a league derby to look forward to next season!

Always loved the quote ' they won't be talking about Bristol Rovers' or 'we will be in the Europa League'.
Well, one out of two ain't bad. I assume that Newport counts as Europe.

I hope you are right but tbh I think we're some way away from being bigger off the pitch but we are moving in the right direction and as a gashead that's all I can ask. Sod them nothing to do with me. Agree 100% with everything else, after what they've spent and they're 12 places above us! They must be totally embarrassed but of course they won't admit to it! UTG!
