Good spot, I think you are correct. That is a real blow with the form he is in.
He picked up a yellow in that abandoned game vs Swindon which isn't included on soccerbase. Stupid ruling that they count, especially as most of the bookings that day were due to the conditions on the pitch making the tackles look worse than they were!
Hopefully DC goes like for like in putting Mansell in, rather than messing about with a formation which is really working for us.

Big loss regardless of who we draft in - possible player of the season contender this year and someone will can ill afford to lose at this critical stage of the season if we have real play off aspirations. Still we've lost the Beard on the last 2 run ins and achieved well so possible time for another player to step up to the plate now if he is really suspended

FA must be right. ah that explains it. I forgot about the abandoned swindon game. An utterly bonkers rule but it is what it is. I started a thread the other day thinking he was on 9 and worth 'resting' for a game - gaschat.co.uk/thread/9431/rest-ollie-clarke-southend

Were any of the bookings in the joke cup? Coz if they were they don't count as I understand it.

It just shows how much the lad has come on this season when many of us are gutted to lose him for a couple of games.
I for one have to hold my hands up as I didn't think he would be good enough.
I have every confidence in whoever comes in though as is the norm with DC in charge! UTG

This is why we can't afford to pick up stupid yellow cards for time wasting - like the two at Oxford on Saturday.

A Scunthorpe H Oxford Utd A Southend A Swindon A M K Dons A Chesterfield H Coventry H AFC Wimbledon A Bolton A Oxford Utd
Of course the game at Swindon was abandoned but unfortunately the booking still counts.

Don't booking totals reset after a certain point in the season?

Don't booking totals reset after a certain point in the season? They have until the second Sunday of April for the 10-card accumulation.

That's a shame I thought it was earlier than that. Oh well everyone's in the same boat, although not everyone would have had a booking for a game that didn't exist.

Or a forward!! Just one extra goal in any of just two/three of those six drawn games and we would be looking seriously at a play off place. Even a £100 - £200k investment in a reasonable striker would have been paid for in increased attendances between the end of January and the end of season - and who knows what additional revenue from the play offs - not that I think personally we are anywhere near ready for promotion just yet.

And there is why, IMO, DC didn't go out and pay over the odds for a goalscorer in January. I don't think he believes we're anywhere near ready for promotion - on or (particularly) off the pitch - atm either. I've always thought that L1 to Championship is the biggest jump for a club. Teams in the Championship have strikers in that cost them £10m+. Not even the Sheffield United's of this league are spending anything like that on players, let alone us.

Not sure signing a CM just to cover a possible suspension makes any sense, when Sincs or Manse can cover for a couple of games, just hope Harrison is fit or we're short of numbers upfront if we now have to play with two strikers.

Sincs can do the job just fine, we'll barely miss him. Who'll do the beard role is another matter though.
I would say Manse is the only option, but that's no bad thing either. I trust DC to get it right though.

I understand what you're saying; however I think we could easily hold our own in the Championship provided the team was strong enough, say after another season of consolidation and additions in league 1. I say this because I think we wold get 11,000+ crowds at home, because most Championshp clubs would take up their full allocation of tickets. The club would easily be able to survive on that for a couple of seasons until a new stadium was ready.

Yes, bookings and sending off do count in abandoned games but goals DO NOT count in a players total.

Who is going to cover Sins if Sincs is covering O Clarke? It depends if we had any ambitions of trying to go up which by not signing one told me we didn't.
