Anyone else see the similarities between them down the road and how we were about 4 years ago… rotting from the inside out. The difference is they're doing it AFTER their saviour has arrived. Thank f**k ours our grounded and doing it sensibly whereas theirs is a deluded, arrogant 'businessman' who thinks he can buy anything by chucking plenty of money at it. (and does anyone else reckon Lil Lee might be Pantsdown's love child? How else is he still there whilst they sack people who actually know things about football?)

Brisgas, if this is the traditional Gaschat welcome (i.e. the sniff test, am I gas or something far more unpleasant) bring it on! My first game was at Eastville in 1972/73. I was 4 and it was against Plymouth. It finished 0-0 (I think, but would love for someone to confirm that as I didn't have a clue what was going on!)

There's no way that LJ isn't Gary's son, but I'm not saying Lickle Lee doesn't call Sir Steve 'Daddy'...

I thank you all! It's a bit like walking round a cold swimming pool that you can't see the bottom of waiting to jump in here! Clockendgas, sounds like you should put your CV into Pantsdown, you could be our next agent

and wiaww, at what point does he have to call him "daddy"?
My point was serious though… We all hate them, but they are in a whole world of disarray… I live in Bath and was given serious abuse by some travelling teds when we went down to the conference (I had to leave the premises as I was with my wife and friends) They were giving it large that we were finished and they were going to win the champions league in a couple of years. I couldn't agree with the latter, but we were on the precipice, and we WERE finished unless we performed a miracle. Our miracle happened. And then we got the the extra miracle of Wael. Our miracle (so far) is real. We need to be careful though… walk before you can run. We have come so far, so let's not ruin it by thinking we can get into europe in the next few years like those idiots did (I know most don't, but it is comparative. If we go up next season will be f**king horrible. We are building foundations, but they're not set yet)
As for the OP (get me getting your jargon!) we are healthy inside and out. They are rotten. We are on the up, they are on the way down. 4 years ago we were rotten and only going one way.

OK… My first game… I was taken by a school friends mum and dad. We stood on the Tote (looking back at the photos) I had not a clue. I do remember asking why they were all kicking the wrong way in the second half! I had an idea about football because of my brother who is 13 years older than me, but a Man Utd fan. Maybe I have lied to myself all of these years and have only been a gashead since I was 6, not 4!

hang on though… I went to every home game 75/76 that was played on a Saturday. I got George Best's autograph when he played there for Fulham in 1975? (he didn't come up to the bar, but I had an insider, see below)
My mum and dad ran a pub in Clifton and Derek Lavender who ran the bar at Eastville (the Goldfish Bowl) used to get me in for free (many stories) I was in hospital for 2 months January-March 1977 and Derek got the team to send me a get well card, it had a green dragon on it with a sad puff of smoke coming out of its nose (and I bloody lost it!)
Maybe my first game wasn't the Muff? (Im bloody sure it was though! This is life changing!)

I reckon empirepetebay is the man. I thank you for that kind sir. (I hope Plymouth played in green and black stripes btw) If we ever meet I'll bring you a big tin of Werthers Originals.

4 years ago We dropped out of the league They could drop into League One. 4 years ago We were bankrupt and mortgaged to the bank. They are stinking rich and have a new stadium. TBH I can't see much similarity in fact we are poles apart in that this club has survived after losing our home being exiled losing our league status and being broke. They have failed despite having infinite funds, better infrastructure, better stadia and academy. We may get to where they are or even do better, but I Hope we will never be like them.
