Harrison was worth no more than a two before he scored, but an eight after that with two good headed clearances and a block to stop a certain goal. As regards MOM, Lockyer and Sweeney for me.

Take it socrates - or are you chicken? £20k is yours for the taking..... And we've got lots of witnesses if AF welches. I'm not chicken lol but I doubt he's got £20,000 to give me if we do it where as William hill have. I'm five grand up since I started just over a year ago so it's William hills money I'm playing with anyway so bottle or chicken doesn't come in to it.👍🏻 Did you not see him in Starsky and Hutch? I'm sure there are sh*tloads of repeat fees coming in that could fund your winnings. £5k profit over the bookies is a good run though - fair play.

why on earth were we pinging long balls up to him all first half, it actually looked like it could end up in a nasty injury to him because he was getting battered by their defenders when the challenge came....

I don't like to criticize the players, but to keep playing Luke James up front ,is as pointless as doing away with the emergency stop on the driving test

Today's match was a dull affair and ok Harrison scored he was awful until then...Marcus Stewart didn't fill me with hope after the game with his interview by saying it doesn't matter how he plays as he scores a goal as in my eyes he's not our answer and even as a squad player, With James and Harrison upfront either can't do any link play or hold it up...James is on the floor all the time and Harrison's first touch isn't good enough... We missed leads and Ollie today. We deserved the win but not a great performance but considering We played Friday and with a less effective team selected a great 3 points... We need to offload Harrison/James/Moore/mansell and hopefully buy lumley(not looking good though as qpr first keeper is wanted off a lot of teams so I can see him going back) or buy a proven keeper And bring in another left footed centre back better than Hartley and as good as sweeney( who will be playing championship football next season) and a left winger and 2 proven strikers but on a tight budget it could end up being another mix season. Let's hope the board and dc can do some good business over the summer to keep the momentum going..UTG

Just noticed it was a 9-0 corner count in Oldham's favour.

I thought Lumley was MoM. He pulled off some blinders. As for Ellis, MS said at the Weston gas AGM he was a confidence player and that he responds well to crowd support. He really showed that today.

I have to disagree with the many negative assessments of Ellis today and I'm pretty fed up with those in the ground that seemingly can't wait to get on his back. He battled well in the first half, won plenty in the air and was getting no protection from the most lenient ref I've seen in a long time.
I'm always pleased when Ellis scores to shut up the boo.boys.

I think ellis has had a good season,he has been an above average league 1 striker and a proper handful for most centre-backs. I will be very sad if he leaves as i believe hes a good player well worth a new contract offer.

People want us to progress but they want us to keep Ellis, you can't have it both ways. L2 footballer at best.

Well if our owner is prepared to sign players like billy sharp, charlie wyke, simon cox,ian henderson etc etc then great we would be a stronger team but as there is no evidence that that will happen the likes of ellis and rory gaffney are decent players at this level. Mario wants to run with the hare and the hounds,he hates any critical comment on the regime at rovers but somehow thinks were going to get better than ellis, rory and others without spending any money!! Makes me laugh

It wasn't really the point in question though was it? It wasn't part of my post to give you the impression I disagreed? Obviously if we're to progress we need to spend money but the point was about Ellis who has been "above an average L1 striker", you then pulled this quote out your arse - "Mario wants to run with the hare and the hounds,he hates any critical comment on the regime at rovers but somehow thinks were going to get better than ellis, rory and others without spending any money!!" but didn't have anything factual to back it up with. Whether we plan on spending money in the summer or utilising free transfers/loans, if we're to try progress, Ellis isn't good enough.

Hes not good enough at this moment in his career to get in a league 1 promotion side that much i agree with. But unless we spend some serious money he wont need to be imo.

So in your own words Ellis is an above average league one striker who gives most centre halfs a hard time but is not good enough at this stage of his career to get in a league one promotion seeking team. Make your mind up.

I've been on and off the fence about Ellis for a long time. He frustrates me. But yesterday he reminded me of what's good about him. Other than Bodin, very few players are capable of just that little bit of magic that can open a game up. Sure, he was quiet during the game, as were the whole team but he does have something special. His tracking back and defensive work, particularly after his goal was superb. I think it would be a mistake to let him leave.

Ellis isn't someone you can rely on for goals all the time, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better squad player if you let him go. Same with Gaffney.

Ellis ran to Marcus Stewart to celebrate his goal, and Stewie spoke very well of him in the after match interview. He was certainly a different player for the last 15 mins or so, amazing how a goal can lift the confidence. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll be with us next season.
