One thing's for sure. DC knows exactly what Smith offered when he was at the club, and whether he has gone backwards or forwards in his development since. If we were getting exactly the player we had when he left, then I think he'd be a good addition.

No indication we even wanted him let alone missed out on him to be fair. Think we missed out on Roger Milla from Cameroon How about Roger Whitakker? He`s got to leave old Durham Town.

Can we stop with the Ricky Miller obsession? Darrell is due a good striker signing after Luke James

Anyone who thinks Luke James won't be a Rovers player next season is dreaming.

Why? hes nowhere near as good as lee brown. Smith would be the best full back at our club . I think he would be 3rd best after brown and leadbitter.

I would thrown Stefan Paynes name into the hat. He was Millers striker partner at Dover and was actually their top scorer when he was there and POTY. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_PayneI saw him and Miller in the play off game v FGR last season and was impressed by both.

I would suggest Patrick Bamford - attacking midfield player or striker - a biggish lad who has lost his way somewhat although he did a good job at MK Dons a couple of seasons ago. With Middlesborough likely to be relegated I'm not sure they would want to loan him out to another Championship club - he may be available for long term loan. I was talking to a guy on holiday a couple of months ago who knows him well and suggested I mentioned his name to the club (I haven't) all he wants to do is play football regularly which he is not getting at 'borough. We should be trying to 'up the bar' particularly with quality loan players as was proven with the likes of Sweeney & Lumley. Young kids being farmed out from Premiership clubs (apart from Sweeney) have proved to be not good enough at this level of football. There was midfield player who was on loan at Swindon who he mentioned - before going back to QPR this season - forget his name but he was not so impressed with him. He might be available on a permanent.

Doesn't seem very realistic to me.

Genuine question here mate but how can we have missed out on him if the transfer window doesn't open until 1st of July? Plus IF it is true he may be going surely if we want him that badly we would offer him better terms. Whether we have missed out or not depends on what DC was thinking. But players under contract can sign pre-contract agreements from Jan 1St (or 31St I forget which ) in the year their current contract expires.

Most players have a better goal return than LJ, even defenders
He has been at Shrewsbury and hasn't scored many but then Shrewsbury never struck me as a team who create a lot of chances.
Barnsley must have seen something in him, as did Fulham when they paid 6 figures for him and he did have a decent goal ratio for Dover. Plus he is big and only 25, although still under contract for another year.

He did look pretty good against us but I hardly see his name on the Barrow teamsheet these days. Presume he has been injured?

29 year old striker who has never played above league 2 and done little at that level. Not for me.

For players from another country, that is true e.g. the Accrington players who went to Rangers, for clubs in the same country it's the final month.
