i think now is the time we have to be resigned to the fact, that unless we hear something soon, the UWE project to build a new stadium for Bristol Rover will be abandoned. No other football club in world football has waited to long to get a new stadium built. Quite honestly this is embarrassing and a kick in the teeth for all us gasheads who were whooping with joy 4 years ago. Since then we have had the lost fight with Sainsburys and now it seems that we cannot even negotiate with UWE. This Is a sorry state of affairs. I find it very strange that we now don't receive any news regarding the negotiations with UWE. Are they even talking to each other? I have a funny feeling that this is not happening. We have now been at the Memorial Stadium for 21 years, and I'm afraid, sadly to say, that we will never ever leave. RIP UWE STADIUM PROJECT....IT WAS NEVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN! If you are right then much of the trust developed by the new owners would be lost...no more cheering the family and Wael would have to think twice before mingling with the fans. A lot riding on what happens in the next couple of months. A bit of painting and cleaning the carpets will satisfy no one . I don't know about that. Why is everyone making out that if UWE doesn't happen then it's Wael and his family's fault? They have already made and are still making investments in the club which tells me that this isn't something to just pass the time for them. They are very successful investment bankers so they know what they are doing with their money don't you think? If they don't negotiate a deal with UWE then I believe its for the best and I'm glad they stepped in when they did so that we weren't taken for mugs under the old board. If that happens then we move on and look for another site to build the stadium where we are getting the best deal for the investment made. I think they know better than anyone on here what is a good investment and what isn't so just leave them to it and have faith that it's for the best of the club. UTG!

Yet more evidence that we aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Did you think the New UWE will be built overnight like in your computer games. 65-90 week build time for what we have planned

Good points and possibly true but just wait and see the reaction if it's no deal - any rationality will go out the window.

Just watching a piece about Blackburn's owners. People questioning how chicken farmers from India with absolutely no background in football were able to buy a premier league club. I THINK WERE IN SAFE HANDS HOW EVER THE UWE GOES. I think wael will have to make a success of our club for his personal ambitions with his FIFA connections.

Well I guess even if UWE gets the go-ahead before the August dead-line it will still be 2 more seasons at the Mem. The line that made me think UWE is by no means certain was the article saying 'irrespective of whether or not we will be moving to a new stadium' which seems to suggest some doubt? That line leaped out at me too as it was only ever going to invite speculation, but I wouldn't jump to guess the motives behind including it. It might have been put there to dampen our expectations, but it could just as easily have been put there to keep UWE on their toes by suggesting that Rovers are still quite prepared to walk away if their terms aren't met. It does bother me a little bit though that we're obviously the target audience of the piece! Regarding the investment in The Mem, I think it's good news as it could certainly do with it. Even if UWE goes ahead, I don't think it was ever part of the plan to let The Mem demolish itself around our heads before we left Maybe it's not just our ambitions that have outgrown the place, but our resources too and so we're tarting it up Because We Can. I'm not saying I believe that, but I do think the piece screams 'We've got cash and we're splashing it!' just as much as it screams 'UWE's off and we're staying here. Live with it!'. It's just a matter of which way you look at it, and since nothing's going to drop out if we turn it upside down and shake it then we might as well look on the bright side. We can't do a thing to influence the outcome and will know soon enough anyway. Summer's here, and life's too short.

They will wait until every last season ticket has been sold before breaking the news that uwe is dead. Have a feeling we are being taken for mugs. Unlike you Chippenham, most of us would buy the season tickets irrespective of whether we will end up at the UWE. BECAUSE WE LOVE THE CLUB.

It will be nice to get 'proper' sprinklers (or whatever they are called!!). Those old hoses made us look like a 'Rag ass Rovers' so at least the pitch will be moving into the 21st Century. Nice to see the Thatchers end getting a good wash against Milwall!! I'm still upbeat about UWE.

Has the pitch been much of a problem this season? we have a good home record and no games were called off by rain. Seems pointless unless... DC made reference several times during the season

What on earth is everyone going on about???
get real chaps/lasses £100,000 or so makes no imprint into the £40,000,000 to £50,000,000 that is needed for UWE
Let us be thankful that despite no chance of increasing the capacity Steve and Wael recognise that we should be as comfortable and the players as happy as possible in our current surroundings

There have been regular posts on the OS about tarting up the Mem, yet none about UWE progress. Christ, it didn't even make it into the Chairman's end of year statement. The negativity and impatience of fans is entirely down to the club's lack of communication.

I read the statement about it being irrespective of development elsewhere as managing our expectation before the inevitable meltdown occurs.
Say it changes nothing so you don't get forced into issuing a more detailed statement after the inevitable meltdown.

DC wants a better pitch to play his style of football on and the board has backed him and responded by the upgrade.
We host weddings and other money spinning events so cleaning the carpets would just enhance the venues.
Why the panic??? 😜😜😜
