Well I guess even if UWE gets the go-ahead before the August dead-line it will still be 2 more seasons at the Mem. The line that made me think UWE is by no means certain was the article saying 'irrespective of whether or not we will be moving to a new stadium' which seems to suggest some doubt?

Like the way it says DC's side next season.

Yet more evidence that we aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

If Darrell wants the best playing surface he gets it...wonder what the playing budgets going to be?

Has the pitch been much of a problem this season? we have a good home record and no games were called off by rain.
Seems pointless unless...

I suspect this is meant to be a "good news" story - with a hint of "look at us, we're putting £100k into the club". But to me it puts (more) doubt into my mind as to whether the UWE will go ahead, and creates an excuse for a reduced playing budget next season.

Previously we dug up the pitch at the end of every season and relaid it, drainage was also generally improved.
I have heard that the surface looks great, but is bumpy underfoot. Hence the work being carried out?

I have to disagree it looks like a good news story because it is a good story.
For years we have complained about being a rag ass team with terrible facilities. For the first time in decades we finally have an owner that recognises that good facilities and infrastructure leads to greater chances of success and we undermine it straight away.
We all want the stadium to be built but we can't get caught in the trap that lead us to relegation to non-league ''It was all stadium stadium stadium, but we all forget about the first team''

Given we've apparently had the best home form over the last 3 seasons I can't imagine there's any problems with the playing surface as far our own players are concerned. Do we really need the best playing surface in the worse stadium. I can't see us now leaving the Mem for at least 3 seasons, possibly even longer.

Hence the work being carried out? It also looks like it slopes down to the Blackthorn. Wonder if it will be obvious that the level has been changed?

Criticised if they don't spend money, criticised if they do.

Will they paint that sack of sh** bar behind the Blackthorn is the real question.

Criticised if they don't spend money, criticised if they do. FFS Come on Peter, no one is being critical here. We've been in the dark about the new stadium for a long while now so it's no surprise that stories like these are analysed to death.

I don't think this has any great bearing on UWE or not as e are going to be at The Mem for at least the next 2 seasons. I see it as a positive move given we have been lucky with the weather this year and also given DC pays a lot of attention to both our home pitch and away pitches we play on. I think new drainage and some re decorations of the stadium are short term fixes to keep us going for that couple of years min we spend at The Mem. Massively positive in my opinion that the new owners are wanting the best they can for the club and its supporters whilst we remain at The Mem. Don't forget that some of this could be grant money and any money spent can be written off against profits or to increase losses so its not a huge amount of money in the scheme of things!

Pah, course not. The Al-Qadi's don't have any money, are only loaning us money and charging us interest on everything, blah, blah, blah

Yet more evidence that we aren't going anywhere anytime soon. You're right, they could announce the UWE this afternoon, and we'd still be at the Mem for 2 more seasons I would imagine.
May as well ensure the pitch we have is in the best condition it could be.

Just perhaps, the UWE is green for go and Wael is all for making the Mem as best as possible until we move?
