I don't like that guy. He is dirty, he sulks, he does not seem like a team player. For a player with so much raw talent, he has ended up at Bury. Three promotions, twice named League One Player of the Year and 93 goals in 161 games at this level suggests he does something right. He was also named Players' Player of the Year in the past, so can't be that bad of a team player. Yes he has had one or two issues, highlighted on this forum, but so have some of the best players. He might flop, but with his record it is certainly worth a punt. I don't think it's fair to use his credits from over 5 years ago to justify his credentials now? He was instrumental for Leeds no doubt. Since then he has been all over the place. Most of his honours and goals were in a strong Leeds side during the peak of his career. He is mid 30s now.

He was a decent player a few years back but I'm glad we didn't try to sign him to old and as someone pointed out his disaplinary record is appalling! Not a DC type fit I would say? I'm sure we will get 1 or 2 better strikers this time? Big summer for DC transfer wise, let's just hope he's got the money and makes some astute signings UTG!!!

I'm sure DC has some quality signings lined up anyway and look forward to their arrival. If they're of the quality of a Sweeney/Lumley then it's going to be a promising season. In DC we trust! UTG

I wouldn't of thought DC would be interested in this type of player , how old is he now 33-34 ? Hardly set the world alight at Preston did he ? Living off past reputations me thinks! I think dc is after players on the way up in their careers not their way down looking for a final pay day , in my opinion bury are welcome to him. DC signed Easter at 33 who was never prolific. For the record Beckford scored 21 goals from 34 starts at PNE. Anyway I'm sure DC has some decent players lined up and trust him implicitly. True, but 18 of those goals were scored in 2014/15. Since then he has had two significant injuries, scored 3 goals in 29 appearances and hasn't been deemed worthy of a start since last August. He might yet tear up League 1 again but there has to be some significant doubt.

He isn't scared of A red card though and imo, is not the sort of character that we would want.

This signing highlights one of rovers problems with signing players in that bury is just down the road from preston meaning they can get him cheaper than us. 2 year deal though would most rovers fan like that? i doubt it to be honest though he is a decent player. Why would they get him cheaper just because it is down the road? Surely the attraction for Beckford would be that he wouldn't need to relocate? I mean we would have to put together a much better deal for him than bury to get him to re-locate to bristol.
