Just a random question.
Do you think that Bristol could support another professional league side based from the Bristol area. And if so, what kind of support could it generate?
Say one of - Mangotsfield... Bristol manor farm...Yate...Clevedon, or maybe from abit further a field Bath city or Weston super mare became league clubs, how would they be supported?
I've always said that if both Rovers and City ever get our acts together then both clubs could generate premiership level support.
Of the list above Bath city and WSM are in the old Avon area, and are towns/cities in there own right.I feel that both of thoses places could support league clubs and get 5k week.
But I wonder if the others in the Bristol border or overspill could? I'd say yes - if they ever got to the pro level and had the stadiums Bristol could support a 3rd professional club.

I would follow weston-super-mare more if I could not get to rovers games if they were in the league ,

I think it would be great to see Bath City finally get into the league although that will no doubt eat into out future fan base.

We can barely support two. You support two!? Yeah, Rovers and City. Always give both teams a fair shout. It doesn't make sense to support one and not the other, after all, we're all Bristol.

If FGR eventually make it into the league and also build their new ground at junction 13 we might find out soon!

I doubt it - on both counts - hoping Tranmere stuff them at Wembley, plus their support in the EFL would be worse than Accrington's. The only way they would take Rovers support would be if they were in a higher division than the mighty Gas - even then the loss of support would be minimal!

Both Bristol clubs for the league there in are supported well, if the UWE was built we would be in the top 3 best home attendances in league one.
I think the answer is yes another team in Bristol would generate a decent following.

I would have thought if the support was there then there would be other professional clubs in the area already. That there isn't shows the lack of hard support. FGR will fade away when matey runs out of money.

Support isn't the big factor, it's a question of finance and being well run. There are teams in the football league with very small catchment areas and fan bases.

But think of all those 'Greenies' and 'Veggies' in Bristol, natural FGR supporters I would have thought but might might be a bit too far for them to cycle especially for evening games.

What happened to Rushden & Diamonds they were a weird lot, are they still going or did they go pop? Went out of business in 2011 after the Conference kicked them out. The phoenix club AFC Rushden & Diamonds play in the Northern Premier League Division One South at the Dog & Duck in Wellingborough.

Think Cheltenham would be far more worried about FGR getting into the league than the Bristol teams
