Who are Rinn and Lynch as the land was last owned by a Dublin based developer? Pretty sure this is Green Belt land put in place to stop north Bristol urban sprawl jumping the M4/M5 motorways, apart from sports ground etc the land has virtually no commercial development potential, basically we were probably the only sports club with a bit of money ever like to buy it, hence why Coalpit Heath Juniors had been using it for years. Could be linked to Churngold........the land down Hortham Lane has been used for Housing on the old Hospital site, a huge Jehovas Witnesses Church, a massive Plymouth Brethern meeting house (looks like a warehouse, on the left just before Hortham Farm & at Hortham Farm itself Industrial units & 2 huge Caravan storage areas. Don't believe it's just Geen Belt farmland, it quite simply isn't! Ideal place for a Motorway Service station too! Crikey.....I've just realised something....what if they put Santas Grotto there instead of a Motorway Services Station? The money will poor in ! It'll pay for the whole development !

They were the original Irish owners of Churngold who sold out and became multi millionaires and invested heavily in development. They bought up land wherever they could during their Churngold days and retained it after selling the company. A sports ground is commercial development.

Actually Topper, I was quoting an article on newsnow at the time. All I know is they paid over a million, which was apparently what it was worth. By the way, it seems DC is pretty happy with his budget based on vibes at the Mem today. Oh, and the pitch renovations are now supposed to start tomorrow (Thursday) So all good for you at work today then, seems you panicked for no reason on Monday then? I just stated three facts Topper. No panic, just the usual Rovers delays etc

In recent years Hortham Village, a new Quakers Meeting room, a sports ground have all been granted planning permission on this area alone.

Topper we were talking about the valuation/cost - I think if you read my post I was saying it's not just Green Belt Farmland - hence the far higher than standard £10k an acre DS are alleged to have paid. Rumours of £1m plus will not be far off the mark, particularly as SGC have already set precedents with recent agreements for significant developments very close to the Colony as Holmes mentions too..

Do you know anything about the area? Hortham Village was built on a brown field site, on the old Hortham Hospital site from memory even then the developers had hassle getting pp for years.. Anyway if the ALQ's did pay £1m+ that's even better news as far as I'm concerned, as it means they are even more committed to Rovers long term which was my point when I originally mentioned buying the land on this thread.

Topper. You remind me of the David Brent scene from The Office. The one where he is talking about Dostoyevsky!

I do despair at people sometimes.
Who gives a flying F##k who or what owns it and how much we did or did not pay for it.
The most important thing is who is responsible for cutting the daisies down now and when are they going to start on the Clark's Pie hut ??

Surprised nothing has been made public from the latest catch up the board have had.
I would have thought if anything in term of progress with Stadium\Training Ground or if a Budget that everyone was happy with had been covered, we would have heard about it by now.
As with anything, people don't hesitate to announce good news, only stay quiet if it is bad or have nothing at all to say.
Can only assume progress isn't being made at the speed everyone would like it to be.
Hopefully I am wrong and the club will make an announcement/statement of intent soon.

Also I learnt a long time ago - an extra day of reflection clears the mind - and leads to a better decision.
