More interesting than a lot of topics on here. Sometimes I get all the letters in the right order I'm not usually one to stray dramatically off topic on here but due to the nature of this original post I'll make an exception and join this Cornwall love-in. (nothing else to talk about on here at the moment based on the first page of threads!) My rents live just outside Camelford so I have the pleasure of popping down most months and would say parking up at Daymer Bay, walking along the beach to Rock (Blue Tomato for a cake), ferry over to Padstow for a pasty at The Padstow Pasty Co (as opposed to the one next door which isn't quite as good), a round of Crazy Golf (if it's not shut down yet), couple of Doombar's at the Shipwrights and then back again is the best daytrip in the area! Trebarwith Strand and the Port William Inn is another beach worth visiting in that area, although in the school hol's it gets mental with bloody emmets! More of a Crantock, Holywell, Perranporth man myself but best of all is a trip to the Isles of Scilly where I used to play in the smallest Football League in the world. Garrison Gunners rule ok.

Hugo it has gone all Newquay ish in recent years instead of bigging up its heritage it has gone for perpetuating a myth to the detriment of its history. Have you been to Boscastle now that is a beautiful little village with a quaint harbour and wonderfull cliff walks

Just to add to the Cornwall love-in, been in St Ives today. My daughter was proudly wearing her Rovers shirt as we walked around, and a local man asked if he could shake her hand because he loves the gas.
Also, funnily enough, was in Porthcurno at the Minack Theatre when this thread went all Cornish.

Amazing history in the graveyard and possibly one of the best views I have ever seen. Worth the trip alone ...

You put a pair of boxing gloves on to type that, Padstow? Going to lovely Cornwall myself in a few weeks and looking forward to eating some 'proper' pasties - but not from Lands End ! Corrections. St.merryn. Kelantan is Kelantan.should be st.ives.pastor meant to be pastie.apart from that nearly got it right Ahh memories.... spent many a week at St.merryn Holiday camp and walking down to the Farmers Arms for a pint of the local brew... Is that chippy still opposite the pub car park, they did a nice Pastie at the time ??

It's those murder/mystery television programmes that are to blame. You can also fly direct from Germany to Newquay. I did this a few years ago, and in no time at all you are in deepest Cornwall.

I had a business trip down to deepest Kernow a couple of months ago, started to pish down on the top of bodmin mid morning and didn't stop until the early hours of the following morning. RNAS Culdrose somewhat windswept and bleak, much as you would expect from an airfield. On to Falmouth to my hotel to escape the rain; brief wander out to find a cash point. At least they had a decent pint of Tribute in the hotel, never sampled one pasty. Woke up to blazing sunshine and the long drag back up to Bristol.
Strange lot them Cornish types

It's a long time ago I went there so I will avoid rather than ruin a happy memory.

Not much football talk on here during the summer unless you fancy moaning about every aspect of the club, perpetrating unfounded rumours or arguing about stuff 99% of us know nothing about. Me, I'd rather be in Fowey.
