Do we have a NIMBY problem? So this morning my first site visit was in Thornbury and my route took me over the motorway and past the Colony. On the bridge there was an elderly gent with a pair of binoculars, a camera and a notepad, this was at 7:20am. He had parked his car in the gateway further down Hortham Lane and had wandered up onto the bridge to gaze across at the Colony it looked like he was taking notes. I didnt think much of it, just a gashead keen to catch a glimpse maybe. Anyway my site meeting finished and i headed back the same way. i passed the Colony at just gone 9am and said gentlemen was still there, again i thought not much of it, its a lovely day and the view from the bridge is decent. So i am now back in the office and i looked on street view which is dated July 2019 and guess what? The blokes there! He has a different car but its the same guy, in the same spot, with the camera and binoculars! There would not have been anything happening at the site then so the guy is obviously documenting something. Perhaps he is one of you reading this now? Anyway just found it amusing, could he be a keen twitcher? Do we have rare birds nesting at the site that could but the kybosh on the situation? Yes seen this guy alot over the years, I thought originally that he was some sort of traffic flow monitor but not so sure now . We do have a problem with our nearest neighbour though as he has reported us to South Gloucestershire council on a couple of occasions, the first being about the time the perimeter fence was being erected

There's already full pp for the rugby clubhouse, virtually in the middle of the ground, I assume as long as we stick within that footprint we could build something decent for needs. The old barns are some way off from where the two pitches are now being laid. Eventually they will have mowers and a tractor in the barn I would have thought Would be a sensible option .However I recall Ian Holtby installing expensive roller shutter doors on one of the barns at the Colony and within a few weeks they were wrecked.Given we will have expensive cutting equipment on site its essential the security is A1

Just pasesd the training ground to find 5 other gasheads had beaten me to it Got talking to a friendly contractor who advised us that Abbot had first tendered for the work in 2017 Services such as water, electricity and sewage are either on site or very close A culvert runs down the middle of the field towards the motorway which will be used for additional drainage The existing barns and out buildings may be used as part of the development but they are not contracted to do this work(the profile of these is not the same as he pp granted for the site ) so if we go down this route I hope we remember, this time, to submit an ecology report with the all import bat survey included He was very confident that their part of the work will be delivered on time So what are they actually building? Just the pitches are under construction so he was speculating that the existing barns would form part of the development. No planning expert but the process for gaining permission for a conversion would be different to a new build? A friend who runs his own planning consultancy tells me all South Gloucestershire planning applications for barn conversions must have a PEA1 ( planning ecology assessment ) and 3 bat surveys undertaken during the months of May to September at least 2 weeks apart! Anyone got any bat repellent ?

Its remarkable what heavy plant and equipment can do to an over grown and derelict site in a day or so.Gone is all evidence of the two pitches. The long grass , brambles and bushes have disappeared too.. The top end has been reduced to an earth base so lots of evidence that the contractors are not hanging about. However I do wonder how this is being funded,do we become tenants and if so, how much will this cost? Of course any rent paid will be offset by the Cribbs rental savings

Wasnt the Colony bought for 1 million + and Red Maids bought Cribbs for a similar amount ? If so we could have had a ready made training facility for a similar investment and access to all the pitches which we dont have now.But that is with hind sight and I think we purchased the Colony before Cribbs became available so it was not an option .In any event the Colony is a much larger site with greater potential.

Excellent news and a big step forward. Even if this development is modest to start with ,its something tangible which may help us attract new players

Who knows where it is coming from .But if it arrives you can bet it will be secured against our only asset - the Mem and will be no different to our wonga loan As for the training ground I reported what I saw and speculated as to the use of the top soil. If you want to read into that its the start of the re working of the pitches out there of course you are entitled to do that .Please do not shoot the messenger.if you do not want a pair of eyes in this area I am happy say nothing at all Not shooting the messenger, put whatever you want on here dude. Just would like things to be a bit clearer RE: this external debt thing. Whilst the growing internal debt is worrying, I guess it's semi manageable at least in the short to medium term. A large bill to external creditors that we will struggle to pay off, is even more worrying. I had a friendly chat to an ex director who thought WAQ options were limited once the internal debt reached a certain level.Do they sell and take a financial hit because no one will be interested IMO buying a club like Rovers for 20 million + when say Swindon are on offer at 7 million .Or find new investment to take the club forward but at what price? Charges against the stadium? All speculation of course brought about by newspaper talk re Harry Redknap .I and all my gas mates would not be best pleased to see us go down this route

Happy to debate our future with you but first may I suggest you visit gas heads.org. Thread a chat with an ex member of rovers staff for another take on our future.Lookslike large external debt is heading our way ,in which case start making plans for AFC Rovers Sounded very contradictory with real life events. For example his claim that Coughlan was forced out of the door due to not being able to play certain players due to appearance clauses such as Rodman. Yet Coughlan never mentions this in his reasons for leaving and Garner has played Rodman a fair bit since. Also his claim that didn't DC didn't get much of a budget in L1, which isn't true, he managed to squander a bigger budget than any Rovers manager has had since on Peter Hartley, Kyle Bennett, Bryon Moore etc. Find it a bit hard to believe that a ex member of staff knows all the in's and outs of events that happened recently, but there we go. So if this large external debt is coming on its way, where is it coming from? Wouldn't be from the training ground construction that you and your mate Gasincider imagined into existence would it? Who knows where it is coming from .But if it arrives you can bet it will be secured against our only asset - the Mem and will be no different to our wonga loan As for the training ground I reported what I saw and speculated as to the use of the top soil. I just went to the Mem and it's open and people are there. That'll be the removal men and the administrators. 😎 Removal men? Have we sold the London office furniture currently stored in the Popular stand then?

Every member of staff has been told not to come to the Mem tomorrow. We have a visitor that no one is supposed to know about. (Inc Claire who is normally in on a Monday). Is that because they are all relocating to the new training ground that started construction about 3 weeks ago? Would have thought your mate Gorringe would have let you know about this? still as you have a hot line to our dear leader perhaps you could ask him yourself?

Bath City have to pay back a one million loan next year and they were hoping their recent planning application re the re development of Twerton Park would cover that Now thats been turned down its hard to see where they go from here. Its a shame as they try very hard to attract new supporters with initiatives such as kids go free, family days and pay what you want.

No low blow 81 just an observation I also fly over Jordan on the way to Qatar 4 times a year...any clever observation you want to make from that? I have never criticized any one for their religious beliefs. However ,in your world 81 ,insulting and hostile behaviour towards another human being is a sin .So,in calling fellow gasheads, irrelevant, liars, cronies ,weasels and much, much, more you are not exactly practising what you preach, are you ?

Stop being a knob and respect your fellow gasheads I’m not being a knob, I’m not the one on here confirming mistruths or making things up for an ego rub. And if you are going to come on here “confirming” (confirmed by who btw) things then at least make it believable and logical. In case you haven’t noticed, we are upside down by £20m, have no income of any sorts and are smack bang into the biggest economic depressions the world has faced since the 30s. It will make the 07 crash look paltry by comparison. We won’t be spending somewhere near a couple of million on the training ground right now. Like I said, this would be one massive announcement for the club to make, and if we were doing any form of prep work on getting it sorted we would know officially before it started. Haven’t you learned not to be taken in by Gasincider and his cronies yet? I am surprised you are not up to speed with any developments in the Hortham Lane area 81. I thought you were a regular visitor to that area ?

How could anyone tell if it was last years pitch? Good point.I got out of my car and had a word with the driver (keeping 2metres apart !) Great bloke ,he confirmed it was the Mem pitch and that he had instructions to dump the soil in a specific place at the colony.
