I genuinely don’t get how City aren’t a Prem side or at least smashing the championship. Hundreds of millions spent but potentially only one bad season from their tent for stands, Santa’s grotto tinpot neighbours being above them? That’s how mental the championship is spent a lot of money but still only about mid table on spending and budget to go up you usually have to spend a lot more than that it’s madness

Rovers figures look fairly consistent across those 3 seasons. Big swing across the river, 4700 to 7200 , same division.... I’m guessing they won something and suddenly everyone’s City till I die or City as fck Chortle Haha yes I think downend 75 forgot that was a promotion year! Didn't we average over 9k the last time we were in division 4? True but you seem to forget by 1986/1987 season rovers were down to 3243 nearly a 50% drop from 1982/1983 so goes to provewhenever anyone is doing well crowds inprove and viva versa

In 1982 city averaged 6308 and rovers 5397city were relegated into the 4th division that year and rovers stayed in the third division the following year city averaged 4723 and rovers 6195 in the league above in 1984 city averaged 7212 from division four and rovers 5535 from the third so looking at these stats not a lot of difference between both sides

The Sh1!heads are all over this thread on One Turd. For anyone from there reading this with help from their support worker; we despise your plastic franchise club. Without the Lady Garden's money you'd be nothing, and when he gets fed up with losing money year on year and pulls the plug, we'll soon see how many fans you really have. What was the average post 1982? The low 4,000's I seem to recall.

I think the reason city fans are taking the water is because when we thought he was a billionaire all the mind the cash and we are the richest in Bristol was all over facebook

Obviously none of this makes our present situation better than it is....light years behind them. Let's just concentrate on progression and we will be fine.

Indeed, Although I noticed a creature called ironman on there, That guy obviously isn't getting enough love from his boyfriend. Yeah I think I noticed that creature also.. Strikes me he has all the moves you'd expect to find in a hillbilly line dancing competition.. We did have the oh yes thread that went on forever

www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn.htmAs you can see in the link above it was different times so you can't compare attendances in 82/83 season city were in division 4 and averaged 4799 we were in division 3 and averaged 6221 the season before when we were both in the same league city averaged 6511 we got 5402 and have averaged more than us ever since even when we are in the same league

Hi guys, City fan here. Like to think I'm one of the 'reasonable, happy to have a good debate' ones. Lots of my mates are gasheads and it's great to be in a two club city where rivalry can be a good thing. Have to say though that our away support is not bad at all. We averaged 1,400 at away games last season which was more than 13 championship clubs. I know it was an incredibly successful season for us, the like of which many of us had never known. But we still had to go to some awful places but we were there. We have consistently had the highest average home and away attendances of the Bristol clubs, for many years. Not sure that is any sort of claim to fame though! As a city with a massive population relative to many other teams' towns/cities it could be argued that both our away followings are 'embarrassing' ... Anyway, just wanted to say hello and I look forward to some cool debates... I agree that you would expect a City the size of Bristol to be able to support at least 1 club capable of higher championship or premiership football and quite frankly if I was a City fan I would be hacked off at the moment that you look as if you have missed the boat. About 18 months ago Rovers were at the lowest point in their history, playing Conference football in front of gates of less than a thousand people, problems with their ground and money tight.effectively we were on our knees. We got out of that league but it was not until the last kick of the season that we did so. City on the other hand were winning their League easily -had a revamped stadium - and Mr Moneybags throwing his cash at them to try and buy them a better team. They had a great opportunity to claim Bristols floating fans who drift all over the Uk to watch their top class footie. Now look at the situation . Rovers are well on the road to recovery with a feel good factor. The ground issue will be resolved either way and even if the result goes against us we will at least know where we stand so that we can move forward. We are gradually climbing to our feet albeit there is still a way to go. Quite frankly I was worried when we went out of the league that we would be eclipsed and may never recover and so to be where we are today is brilliant i don't go to Ashton so can only go on what I hear but they are far from emulating Swansea, Southampton and Leicester and I would want to know why. How come Middlesborough -have you ever been there??- can attract the calibre of players that Bristol can't. For the moment City still have the upper hand but maybe Rovers hitting that all time low was a catalyst for change
