The network is already nationalised and the train operators simply lease trains and pay for track time. Most lost money and are bailed out by the government.
Can't see any issues.

Blimey what a thread ! Are we any the wiser what happened at awards night? Just the scouse lads having a few too many and being a bit laddish? Or a bit more than that? I have no time at all for Mr Barton and am glad that ship has sailed, but I'm not keen on the guilty by association thing. Simply by virtue of the fact they were recruited by him and come from the same region, they must therefore be troublemakers and out to disrupt the club? Unlikely I think.

Who do you blame for this chronic waste ? So public services are all financed enough in your opinion and just poorly run ? Do you think there should be further cuts ? just interested. I’m guessing you think yrs of austerity had no effect on the way public services perform ? I do not think that at all,the management of resource is shocking,so your view is pouring more money into it will make it much better. The whole lot needs an in depth review, not just chuck money at it and hope it will be ok. It pains me to say it but I have to agree. I have had the dubious pleasure of working in the Civil Service (demotivated and no incentives to improve) and Royal Mail just before privatisation (absolutely shocking management). A good friend joined the Ambulance service two years ago and although he enjoys the job and the valuable service they perform, is shocked at the inefficiency and numbers of managers, supervisors and administrators compared to those out in the field. About 7 admin for every 2 actually in the front line. And he's counting call handlers as front line.

I'd say Cheltenham have by far the toughest last game facing Stevenage, who are 28 points ahead of relegated Fleetwood and Port Vale. But anything can happen on the final day, as well we know.

It seems very likely indeed to me. What else is it for? Did they run out of corrugated sheeting? The gap in the seating is there to link the east stand seats into the south stand , when the east stand is constructed, that info came from TG. Not sure how that is necessary or practical looking at the layout of the gap, but I accept what you say.

No need, we are the Pirates. We need not only a new manager and team but the owners to be trueful and get their act together. Wish they were all BRISTOLIONS and not Kuwaites, we cannot wait much longer. Have you got a problem with people from Kuwait ? I am chortling again over the fact that someone who demands a Bristolian can't actually spell Bristolian. Unless he actually wants an actual lion to be in charge.

Am I right in assuming that it is proposed to go in that very silly gap at the back of the South Stand? That seems unlikely? It seems very likely indeed to me. What else is it for? Did they run out of corrugated sheeting?

So flights to Rwanda should take off in 10-12 weeks. Wonder if that gives a pointer to the GE date? Could make it late June or early July. I honestly don’t think seeing flights take of for Rwanda will have any effect on the polls . I don't think there's much appetite left for it in the government but it's a desperate last throw of the dice to get the faithful and true onside and stop them voting Labour or perhaps more importantly flooding to Reform.

Makes me chortle when people say "I'm obviously not a racist because my brother's wife is Indian/my grandfather was half Chinese/I met my wife in a bar in Bangkok". As if that proves anything..... Chhortle away old son - I said that because, in this day and age, one hads to express their feelings when making a point. As for me ? well, my Grandmother was murdered in Dachau and my father forced into the German Army - And I could go on but you really dont derserve any explanation from me - Whoever you are. The point I am making, now try to keep up, is that people, form different times, and experiences, will have formed opions based on their own lives - If that is difficult to understand then I am more than happy to meet you in person and explain The point you are making is not the point I am making. Not al all interested in meeting you but thanks for the friendly offer.

I disagree It very much did work, but what people laughed at was very much generational. My grandfather was born in 1887 and laughed with the character not at him. My own father, a racist dickhead (born 1930) also with, not at. A lot of us laughed at. And argued with the National Front in the 1970s I think you are being a twat - People are entititled to their own views. You and I were not arounfdi in the 30's so have no idea of the feelings at that time. It is better to try and undersatand why people thing as they do rather than act supperior with your own comfertablke life feelings. And before you get all Woke on me - I'm 58, half Polish with grandparents that died in Camps in WW2 so obiviuley not racist - You should have had a chat with your Dad and understood why rather than acting so rightous Makes me chortle when people say "I'm obviously not a racist because my brother's wife is Indian/my grandfather was half Chinese/I met my wife in a bar in Bangkok". As if that proves anything.....

It wasn't such a terrible season overall. We've had far worse. Admittedly the modest League table place hides some seismic events through the course of it. But we're safe and probably a lot less disappointed than Reading and Charlton fans are immediately below us.

Barton due to be interviewed by Cheshire Police over possible offenses under the Communications Act which under section 127(1) CA 2003 criminalises sending via a public communications network a message which is grossly offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing; and, under section 127(2)(c) CA 2003, of persistently making inappropriate use of a public communications network. Suspect it relates to his twitter attacks on women presenters and footballers. Do you follow every move JB makes? Isn't it time to move on? Probably best to read the title of the thread. He's always going to be of interest and he still comments on his superb achievements at the Mem whilst putting MT down.

JRM living in a parallel world...again. JRM annoys me so much. A veneer of intelligence from years of private education masks a stupid man with reactionary and dangerous views.

Interesting post. Keeping Rotherham in the Championship is like keeping Sheffield United in the Premier League. It ain't gonna happen.
But the inevitably unsuccessful managers are always sacked, as was MT.
It has little to do with whether he can be a success with us. No point quoting his ppg with them. It's a different world in the league above.

I wonder whether the last few weeks of the season, with nothing at stake, evokes a similar mindset to when the exams are over at school, and you just go through the motions until the end of term (whether consciously or unconsciously). I think that's why we shouldn't panic and enter a meltdown just yet. We are safe, none of the squad are as committed as they would be if we were at the top or bottom, and I think a lot of people are going bananas about it at the moment. We have terrible current form but the season as a whole isn't a disaster. And MT contributed to our safety until it went t!ts up recently.
