£26K a week? If that is truly what Harvey Vale is on then that sums up everything that is wrong with English football.

Shocking game of football and got what we deserved at the end. Hopefully this puts to bed any thoughts of Mangan getting the job and we get someone in with fresh ideas before the weekend.

Another very abject half of football under Mangan. Yes we are winning (and I guess it’s a results based business) but it hasn’t been pretty at all and we still look so short of ideas.

I think Buckle got Toruqay promoted from the Conference, stabilised them in L2 in their first season up and then lost the L2 play-off final in his second season in L2 in his last match in charge before joining us.
Either way, it shows how tedious this new manager hunt has gone when the talk has turned to Buckle in any way.

Because for me it is not just about stats, it is also about the quality of the opposition and the performances. It doesn't matter if it was Mangan or someone else with those stats, the performances against the standard of opposition for me, has not been good enough. Replicate those performances over an entire season and against every side in the league then I fear we would be in a relegation battle. Last night, we had an almost full strength team out and we could only just beat a massively struggling L2 side. The performances against Reading and Carlisle were also pretty bad, as was the second half against Northampton. Only the FA Cup win has been convincing and with the standard of Whitby (no disrespect to them at all), did anyone expect anything else? So unless under Mangan we beat any Team in the top 10 the results aren't worth a thing and we need a new Manager? Nope, not at all. If we had looked a good side against the teams we had faced then I would be a lot more inclined to give Mangan the job. What I am trying to say is, under Mangan, it has been several very below par performances against very average opposition which has made the Mangan results look better than I personally think they are.

If a Manager was available who had the same stats as Mangan over the last what, 5 games since Barton left we'd all be saying he's the man for us. So why not just give it to him, see what he can do? Because for me it is not just about stats, it is also about the quality of the opposition and the performances. It doesn't matter if it was Mangan or someone else with those stats, the performances against the standard of opposition for me, has not been good enough. I’m sorry but tonight and the last few games show to me why Mangan shouldn’t get the job on a full time basis. Yes he has gone unbeaten but every game has been uninspiring, scrappy and in some games, we have got rather lucky.
Mangan has had a lot of luck with the run of games he has had which has papered over some cracks but the performances under him against a lot of teams in our league would see us comfortably beaten.

How many games is Crama's suspension? Usually 3 as standard for a straight red isn't it? And 1 for 2 yellows.

If Holloway didn't have his past Rovers connections then he would not be linked with the job every time. In the same way that he isn't listed as a favourite for every other job at this level.
I love the guy and what he did for our club but he is past it as a manager with old fashioned tactics and I think he would be a disaster of an appointment.
Eustace would be incredible but unfortunately likely to be out of our reach so Leam Richardson with Garry Monk second choice for me.

Looks like a back 4 of Hunt, Taylor, Grant and Vale from the warm up.

If it gas fallen through by timing then surely jch has to take some of the flak?it seems it was a done deal apart from the paperwork being sent in then why would he have gone down to pompey in the afternoon?was he still fishing for another club to get him late in the day He was (and still is!) a Posh player and he would have to wait for permission from them before he travelled anywhere to speak with any other club. And Posh had a game to prepare for and with him being one of their best players, they would have been planning to use him if he was still theirs I’d imagine. We could have had a Peter Odemwingie at QPR situation with him sat outside the training ground despite not being given permission to travel!

Port Vale announcing a striker. If it’s Loft then I can’t imagine we would let him go if we didn’t manage to secure JCH.

Posh have just signed a striker from Swindon for an undisclosed fee. Must be confident of JCH agreeing personal terms with whichever club it is.

Talent like he has doesn’t just go away and he has shown that he is a very good striker at this level. Not just in terms of his goals but his link up play, his ability to drift about and pop up out wide and through the middle and his direct running with the ball.
Yes there’s been a few moans and groans at some of the stuff he has done (or not done) on the pitch this season but to suggest getting rid is madness if you ask me. I think he will have another great season, especially with the arguable better players he has around him this year, namely Thomas and Brown.

Nick has posted today that the operations and other treatment have cleared the cancer. He will be checked every few months, as it could return. Such fantastic news for him, he's going to enjoy some normal family time before deciding what to do next. Fantastic news for him and his family. Hopefully he can truly start looking forward to the future.
