Lets be honest the Scottish Premiership or should I say the home for many players who can't make it to a decent level down here. Michael Smith was for a long time with us no better than Leadbitter or in fact Michael Kelly now. He left us at our time of need and was not pushed out but left us a much better player than the one who arrived. are you seriously, rating him the same as leadbitter? Smith was a better player with his eyes shut.

Find this a weird one tbh. Did he play well in the match against their U21s? I don't think he's good enough for us let alone West Ham. Just a thought...any chance this could be a bit of a muddle up with Lloyd Kelly of City? your probably bang on there👍🏽

Fingers crossed it is true, we need strengthening in other areas, so cash in now. We have a better replacement already in Holmes-Dennis.UTG

The thing is I don't know who people are expecting us to sign. It might not be a bad thing if Jak isn't banging them in every week as we may then have a chance of signing him! He's strong and sharp, can finish as we have seen. I've seen enough from a young striker to suggest he is worth a small gamble and would be something to work with. He's by no means the finished article but for us he would be a great signing. But surely we need a striker that scores, this club has had too many of these, since Taylor was sold for peanuts.

Very worrying, when we were never likely to score today, that we’ve got two strikers on the bench that we’ve paid money for. Aren’t even trusted, to try and get us a goal. I personally think if we don’t sign another striker, and get shot of Nichols. We’re in the sh**.

agree with much of what you say, I do like the sound of the bloke, but his being happy with things like the ground, not too bothered about any signings!! A little worrying. The board probably couldn’t believe there luck. Then again perhaps he's learnt from DC's mistakes and he's telling the BoD what they need to do stadium and signings wise behind closed doors rather, than doing his dirty washing in public. hopefully he is, because like it or not, we still need a decent goalscorer. I’m happy with his appointment, far better to have him, than anyone else that was on offer. Good luck to him UTG

Don't really have a problem with it personally. My view is that he loves this club first and foremost and would relish the opportunity to try and get us into the Championship. Plenty of folk don't believe him and we're all entitled to our views on that. I'm not sure what he was meant to say at the other clubs he's managed though - "jeez I really like this club but actually I still want to be managing the gas". I'm sure that would have made him hugely popular. All I can see is that he gives his all wherever he goes but ultimately he grew up supporting, playing for and then managing his boyhood club. Not sure why people get so worked up about what he's said or done elsewhere to get by. People still paint him as the local boy done good but everytime he opens his mouth he diminishes his affiliation with Bristol Rovers. He's very complimentary about City, saying he hopes QPR win, tangerine ties, all the stuff about bleeding green and white...he is a washed up run of the mill manager who will say anything to anyone to tout himself for a job. He has no pride or scruples left- he just wants another job. In fact who is Ian Holloway? Who does he support? What does he stand for? I don't think even he knows any more. By way of contrast I couldn't see Clarkey touting himself for jobs in a way that is so disregarding of his affiliation with Bristol Rovers. Clarkey is more of a Rovers legend than Holloway as a manager could ever hope to be. maybe, but Holloway is already a legend, being a title winner at his home town club, not a bad achievement 👍🏽

Coughlan not bothered about a new training ground or stadium and is seemingly happy enough the way things are. DC gave his blessing and put his name forward to the board Coughlan- "Mischief makers on the TV saying Rovers were going to interview other candidates (Ben Garner) and I don't know if that was to hurry me up or what or to push me, I don't know" (Contract signed shortly after) Brentford have the option to recall Bonham this month, But Coughlan hopes that won't be the case. Had a meeting today regarding transfers and discussed alternatives if he does go back. Maybe he's not bothered about a new stadium but I am. Appointing GC in my opinion was simply a cheap option and one this board were always going to do. Without new blood in the January window I think we will probably end up in the bottom 4. Yes we've had a couple of wins but after the new manager syndrome wears off I think we'll be back to square one. Hopefully i'm wrong but I don't think I am. agree with much of what you say, I do like the sound of the bloke, but his being happy with things like the ground, not too bothered about any signings!! A little worrying. The board probably couldn’t believe there luck.

Out of interest (Pirate excluded) how many of us had ever heard of Charlie Austin when he was playing for Wessex league Poole Town. What if Rovers had taken a punt on him at the time , like Swindon did, probably would have got the same reaction from some on here. Sometimes you have to take a punt on non league players.Yes many wont make the grade but sometimes a real gem can be unearthed. Acadamy systems are not the only way

I’ve been totally uninspired by the candidates, so I think GC deserves his chance. He grabbed it by the balls! Good luck GC UTG 💙⚽️

Like the look of him. Obviously a development squad player atm, but could be a nice little money maker if we offer him a nice long contract and hope he comes good. I’d say we should keep hold of him if he is signed and comes good but realistically the way it seems to be here he’ll be off for less than he’s worth within 2 years Looks a pretty natural finisher to me👍🏽

A lot of remarks floating about on this recently about DC playing players out of position. More on 20mans show last night. Who and what were they then as I hardly recall any. Playing players out of position is playing Tom Parkes left wing, Adam Virgo centre forward, & Michael Smith centre mid (Mcghee), not playing Liam Sercombe, a midfielder, on the left side or right side of midfield. I think DC would have been slaughtered by some on this forum if he had picked Martin to play left wing. Managers often get mocked for playing players in a different position but it can sometimes work and change careers. Would Marcus Browning of had a successful career in the game if Malcolm Allison had not switched him from centre forward to midfield? What would have become of Gareth Taylor if he had not switched from Centre Back to Striker or Gary Penrice moving from the wing to Striker? I'm sure there are many other examples both with us and elsewhere. Marcus Browning was Never centre forward?
