Even the lambert fee was awful, he was easily worth double that, at the least. We received 2 million for Gareth Taylor, ten years previous. Barry Hayles, last player to get a decent fee for. Lambert went for about 1.5m in the end I believe? In that market, I think that was a fair price. We could all see he'd be a good Championship goalscorer - just who knew that 3 years later he'd be top English scorer in the Prem & in the World Cup squad in Brazil?! just about fair, yes I’d forgotten about the sale on clause👍🏽

I don't think we've received a fair price for our top players since Lambert. I said it after Lee Brown left for free & got slated for it but I've seen a few posts that started turning since, but for some reason we've been poor at managing the contracts of our players for the last few years. Not sure if it is at board level or management. But some of the players we've let go at a fraction of their cost is a day light robbery. Even the lambert fee was awful, he was easily worth double that, at the least. We received 2 million for Gareth Taylor, ten years previous. Barry Hayles, last player to get a decent fee for.

Is there anything more ridiculous than the cones, set up at half time, for the players return. Really, what a waste of money, Far to many hang on staff. Surely better spent on players?

We rarely win in front of a big crowd, so if we do, for me GC has to be given the job until the end of the season👍🏽💙⚽️UTG

Christ... can't even be arsed to argue the case back. Is it because there is no argument against the post that I made? 🤡

Think the crowd are well within the rights, to say what they like about anyone, who’s not a very good human being, unfortunately it could be our next manager. Also thought Bonham was at fault for the goal, should’ve saved it in my opinion.

Wonder if he said we needed someone with experience, when he took over as player manager, all those years ago lol. I know things can change, but it's funny him saying the club need experience, when he managed us without any experience at all. yeh it’s called EXPERIENCE?

and the point of that was? It was ten years ago, Plymouth we’re in the sh**, so he left for a healthier club. But it didn’t work out, why are you loving Plymouth? How on Earth have you taken that from an article which I said summarizes Holloway? Did you even read it or does your blind love for the man cloud your judgement? Holloway is a leach desperate for attention. He is a liar with no sense of loyalty (he just has it when someone pays him) Holloway said he wanted QPR to beat us (some fan) Holloway (when angling for the City job years ago) was asked about his support at Rovers, he said he supports all sport in Bristol. He was at Plymouth and said "cut me I bleed green" (some fan) He only ever attends Rovers games when he is paid by Sky, BT, BBC, ITV etc. And now look at him, he doesn't have a job so he is suddenly trying to claim his love & devotion to Bristol Rovers again. get a grip, you absolute beaut, you obviously don’t like him, negative energy. Have a day off👍🏽

With Pochettino lined up for Man Utd, my next choice would be Holloway. He would add two thousand onto the gate for his first game, have the Mem stoked and a positive atmosphere restored. His man management/motivational skills are second to none, He knows the players, loves the club. He has a good track record on limited budget. I loved watching him as a player unfortunately as a manager, it came too early for him and similar to Daryl when the pressure mounted his decision making was questionable. What happened he went away and took Blackpool!! into the premiership. Since then he has amassed a wealth of experience, tactically more astute and as a man manager ready for the scrap. A short term contract with a young coach alongside him he would turn things around.Unlike other times in our history the players are not as bad as our position suggests. We need confidence, inspiration and to bring in a centre forward. Olly would deliver this. I have watched Rovers since i was a lad including watching olly on his debut but in 50 years I have seen minimal success. I have learnt to survive on brief highlights in between some fairly turgid seasons. Six months of Olly for me would be far better than some unknown scot I have never heard off, has no knowledge of the league, the club or the city, as previously suggested. Get him in before the weekend and watch the season come alive. UTG Does he know the players? Does he love the club? Didn't he want us to lose to QPR? Here is an excellent summary of Ian plymouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/holloway-one-year-on/and the point of that was? It was ten years ago, Plymouth we’re in the sh**, so he left for a healthier club. But it didn’t work out, why are you loving Plymouth?

hindsight really is fantastic isn’t it, 3/4 of the club didn’t want DC when he was appointed. See what given a chance first does. Well I wasn't one of those with DC. I was excited by his potential considering his success at a lower level at such a young age. well I was very underwhelmed with his appointment, thought same old Rovers, doing it on the cheap. How wrong I was!

True. Also the poll on here showed that 3/4 of Gasheads wanted DC to stay at the time he was sacked. That, along with DC’s record at the club and relationship with the fans, makes the next manager’s job an extremely hard one. Maybe impossible. This does concern me. We’re in a unique situation where we’ve just sacked a manager who underperformed for 12 months, yet 90% of the fanbase are gutted and would have happily seen him stay. Feels like the sort of situation where the first new manager will come in and fail, then everyone will be ready to properly get behind the next guy... my point is, that anyone who comes in, needs to be given a chance. I really don’t want Cotterill, but if he’s chosen, I have to give him my support. Lots of people saying they won’t attend, is pretty sad.

Yes it has, there’s only ever been, a very small amount of loyalty

Are we actually talking about loyalty in football management? It’s not like working for Rolls Royce for 30 years, and getting a loyalty watch. It’s cut throat football! End of.
