I hear there are many Brighton fans nostalgic about the withdean! The mem means nothing to us, our spiritual home (like brighton's) long since gone. The club has no future above league one at the mem. That is pretty obvious. They might have been nostalgic about the Goldstone Ground but none that I know go misty eyed over Withdean which was just an athletics track with temporary seating.

Unlike other clubs, we play every home game at a War Memorial.

My advice to the FA would be follow the advice of one of FIFA's main sponsors - Just Do It.

Thanks bidefordgas, will do. BTW and way off topic - what's the best board to try and track down old mates? I was a Tote-ender in the 70s but joined the Army and lost touch. Not lived in Bristol since 77.

I'm not quite sure what bidefordgas is insinuating, but I was born in Eastville, went to my first match in 1961 aged five, went to Greenbank School and in the 1950s the Rovers trainer was my grandmother's lodger! I don't see how my recent discovery of gaschat should make me a suspicious character or my views less valid than anyone elses.
Re the UWE, this is likely to be the biggest event in the club's history so why should fans be discouraged from talking about it? I can't see that it does any harm. No-one is forced to read the thread.
The point I was making is that if we get promotion, the clock will start ticking.

Now we are up in the play-off zone, thoughts naturally turn to the actual prospect of promotion to The Championship. But, one of the requirements of being in the Championship is that stadiums must be all-seater by the start of the fourth season in the league. So essentially, the UWE stadium would have to be built within 3 years of promotion.
The Amex stadium in Brighton took 2½ years, as did the MK Dons.
An announcement would be a nice Christmas present.
