He's had a massive outpouring of support all over social media today. I don't think I've ever seen as much love for a manager that has been sacked as this. It seems 95% of the fan base don't want to see him fired. That's hilarious. I suggest it's the other way round and only 5% of fans wanted him to stay. As a "centrist" in this debate, I'd just like to say that on the extremes of both sides of the argument, it is just overblown bias, which massively reduces the impact of any points you make. Just like those that blindly defend Barton in everything he did or does, you are an example blinded by bias on the opposite end of the spectrum. There are many Rovers fans that like Barton and appreciate what he did for the club. Why can't you try to respect that?

I think perhaps worst thing about him leaving for me is that we might go back to not being able to attract good players to the club anymore. From a recruitment point of view I think he’s been a solid 9/10 but obviously at times he just simply hasn’t got the best out of those players as a team. I’ve often thought that he would make a great chief scout but is only an average lower league manager. That worries me too. JB has been instrumental in attracting a much higher calibre of player to the Gas since he arrived. Remember what we had before? Who's going to be our scout now, do we even have a recruitment team?

To put him In to perspective compared to some other managers we’ve had Gerry Francis A DC B Goughlan B- Trolls C Barton C Garner D Tisdale E I'd say DC was an A, and Garner and Tisdale definite U's!

Solid C+. We were a total and utter car crash before he arrived, he failed miserably to save us, but I genuinely doubted we could get back at the first attempt and he proved me wrong, in style in the end! We stayed up comfortably on our return and let's be honest we might not be better off position-wise, but the playing side looks unrecognisably improved from before he was here.
I marked him down for our final league position under him and on his insane outbursts from time to time and the numerous controversies.

Mixed feelings about this. I fully understand the feelings from both sides. JB is a very divisive and enigmatic character. At times he is a liability, and at other times he's a very thoughtful and inspirational leader.
The timing is strange as we have a raft of injuries and we've not been performing all that badly, and he has proven last season that he can turn around a sinking ship. I do also worry that a lot of the players he brought in came here due to him and his persona and management style.
So all in all I'm unsure whether this is the right decision, but for sure this next appointment is absolutely crucial to get right, and I fear the board don't have the expertise or strategy to make the right decisions. Most of the names on the bookies odds are really depressing to read, and my gut instinct is better the devil you know, and the next manager might struggle if they don't have a strong personality. I hope to be proven wrong.

Yes it's poor, but why would it be game over halfway through at 1-0 down? Jesus christ I rarely post on here and I get quoted, there's posts on here literally saying Barton out, but I get quoted? Eh?

If I'm honest, whilst I'm happy there is some genuine investment into the improvement of the Mem, I do think the design of the new south stand looks a bit amateur with all the supporting pillars at the front. It would be fine if it was just a stop-gap, but if they go onto say that this is the first step of a Mem regeneration, given the news coming out about the Fruit Market, I'd be pretty concerned about what the remaining re-gen steps would look like. I think it looks pretty impressive compared to what I expected tbh! Oh don't get me wrong it is clearly a huge improvement on the previous tents, which is great. However I would hope that if we're at the Mem for the next 10-20 years, cantilevered designs without supporting pillars would be the preferred designs for official re-gens if these are to be planned. I know this is nitpicky and it's obviously going to be a big improvement, which 1 year ago I certainly wasn't expecting!

Great result, so happy to see Marquis get off the mark. First of many this season let's hope! Just need to start finding ways of opening solid teams up earlier, to make our lives a little easier.

Really sorry to hear about Ash's stepdad. I've never met Ash but he is clearly a top top person and a devoted family man and Gashead. Donated. I hope this goes a little way to helping out.

Probably just done for fun, but I do like the design. I could see us making some noise in there. 100% done for fun by a hobbyist with Sketchup. Looks pretty good though.

Peterborough announce Jacob Wakeling Port Vale announce Ryan Loft MK Franchise announce Ellis Harrison Nothing from Rover's about JCH. Betting now open on a failed medical! There is page after page of post's trying to find a scapegoat within the club. Not the way I'm hearing it...... This goes down to Darragh MacAnthony not allowing enough time. There was a minor issue within the medical and en extended scan was needed and we didn't have time to do it! Club Doctor wouldn't sign it off Hence the paperwork not submitted in time! Where are you hearing this from? Or is this speculation? Regardless of failing a medical etc, it is incompetent and/or negligent to not identify, or ignore, the risk of sanctioning the departure of a striker without sufficient confidence that the replacement could be completed in time.

We haven't just lost Loft though have we. We've lost Coburn as well. Without that purple patch between October and December when Collins and Coburn were linking up brilliantly and scoring regularly we might have been relegated. Agreed on the loss of Loft and Coburn, this is an almighty cockup there's no getting away from that. Although I think you're getting a bit overly dramatic about the relegation thing. All teams have good runs and bad runs, the hypothetical "if we didn't have that good run" thing is pointless. In the words of Gino D'Acampo "if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike" 😄

As typical a wycombe game as you’ll find. They are beyond p*** poor. Gotta find a way to unlock them, don’t deserve to be on the same park as us. And yet they're beating us, again. If we can't find a way of playing against these types of teams, that's on us.

Class act ! Better than Gibson from last season. But… I want to know how he pronounces his name ! I heard most pronouncing it ax Kramer, but I think its mor likely to be Krah-mer. We should get it right so we don’t insult the bloke. What is correct ? There's no R at the end, just drama with a C 🙂 Didn't go yesterday but chuffed he had a cracking debut, long may it continue.

Boom! I just sensed this could be the year. Alcaraz has been in great form and the first player of the new generation who I really believed could actually beat Djokovic. I had a feeling this was gonna be a cracker and it didn't disappoint. It's amazing the amount of people I speak to that don't like Djokovic. You have to really wonder how many grand slams Alcaraz will have at Djokovic's age, he already has 2 at the age of 20 and unlikely to come up against the calibre of players that Djokovic has had like Federer, Nadal etc. If he stays injury free. He will eclipse all of the current records. This boy is the real deal Hopefully one or two more will emerge to challenge him. The last 15-20 years with the battle between Djokovic, Federer and Nadal have been legendary in the sport, hopefully we will see similar rivalries come through with Alcaraz leading the way in the way Federer did back then.
