Mark Bola played today against Gloucester and made a solid start. Has pace, tried to get forward and generally looked ok at the back. A decent start.

When the fecking hell is the clueless one going to sign a goalscorer or two? I am getting seriously watered off with his lack of transfer activity. What's the rush tbone? You'll only hate them anyway.

Does anyone know the name of the kid playing at right back? I thought he looked very accomplished. Rollin looked solid and Hargreaves has impressed me in both the Weston and Mangos games.

I'll be there. I'm making the most of being back home as usual. I'm planning to watch every possible game between now and the end of August. I'm looking forward to seeing the ex Weston lad too.

Other moments of note from these Melksham game. The other trialists were OK but nothing standout IMO. Bodin looks sharp and had a well taken goal. Russe gave away a cheap pen by putting his hands on the striker as a cross came in. He did nothing wrong but nothing of note other than that. Sercombe looks rather good. Let's hope he continues like that. Driving runs, a beautiful driven 30 yard pass, a perfect cross for gaffers, who should of done better , hit the crossbar and looked a constant threat. A good start.

I liked the performances of Lewis Hall in midfield and Tom Broadbent as a left footed center back. Both big units as well. Lewis was tidy with the ball, quick footed and lots of energy. Broadbents distribution with his left peg was decent. They both played 90 minutes.

Someone on here suggested the Peterborough have made over 21 million on player sales in the last few years. You're not always going to hit the bullseye but they are obviously doing something right!

I think bb is right. City have usually had the Scottish players and we usually tapped into the Welsh player market. That's how I remember it as a kid in the eighties and early nineties anyway.

Etheridge is on a free!? Seriously? Best keeper in the league I think, go get him. 0 People want to check facts before posting pie in the sky bits and pieces. Check out an Etheridge interview from two days ago to see how happy he is at Walsall and how he is looking forward to next season with them etc etc. Easily found on Google. Matty the snake wanted to "leave by the front door" and look what happened there.

I think your missing the point, the market is dictating £5 -£10 million for goalscorers not £300k He saw out a contract and had us by the short and curlys. Like I've said above blame the short contracts for this but personally I wouldn't.

He could have walked in the summer and instead he walked on deadline day. He has always been in control. What did our board and manager do wrong other than have a squad of players on short term contracts which, quite frankly, has done more good than harm, imo.

Steve Hamer stated "we were powerless in bid to keep Matty Taylor" If the £300K clause is correct who is responsable for negotiating such a ridiculous contract? We offer £6-8k a week without protecting our own interests, another castasraphy in business, will we ever learn. We had no leverage or bargaining power. They did well to get anything. MT and his agent held all the cards and Matt has chosen those scumbags.

Let's not forget this is all a better result than had he gone in the summer when out of contract. Is it?

This is a great thread full of constructive debate from all contributors. That is sadly not always the case. I always look forward to Stevek's report and wether I agree with everything or not it's a good read. I like the point mentioned that he sticks his neck out with his opinions and, first and foremost, is bothered to create it for our reading pleasure in the first place. I would agree that Steves reports have certain trends that are amusing but we all do it. We all have favourites and bad guys and see the game in our own way. My opportunity to thank you Steve and keep up the good work. Just go easy on the beard for me 😉
