Has done as well as can be expected at Rotherham. Would be worth an interview surely.

Enjoyed that. Good balance despite Har being out numbered 3-1. 🤣.
Whilst I will admit I can’t stand Barton, I think there is some merit in the fact he was trying to get us playing a style of football that will suit further up the pyramid. I respect him for trying that.
However, without high levels of success to hide behind his mouth and sheer stupidity was always going to get the better of him. As much as they are saying that didn’t come into it, it did for sure. End of October is always (in my mind) the first review point of the season. Based on the facts - unrivalled backing and a good number of games behind him, he’s just not done well enough. He’ll know that. I’m surprised he didn’t get until Christmas TBH.
In terms of the future, well, he’s kicked a few people out, got his own mates in and that has made a difference for sure. Unfortunately they will no doubt move to the next club Barton ends up at, I don’t think he’s laid a big foundation for the club.
What is critical now, is that the club push forward with the manager / back room infrastructure split and ensure the next appointment is a name the fans can get behind. And offer a vision to us.

I 100% agre with that. It is a shed. A good temporary solution whilst thatchers end is rebuilt. East Stand > North Stand > West Stand by the time they get back to the South Stand then that'll probably be another decade gone. As the club has always said in the past that redeveloping the Mem is not viable, how has it suddenly become viable for the new owners? The South and is a bang for buck expansion. gives the seats at fair price. Had we done it professionally (local stakeholder engagement etc) it would have been quick. I guess, once the detail comes out for the East Stand, there will be enough information for fans to decide if it's short/medium/long term. If we are considering long term, then clearly the East will be a very nice structure and incorporate new hospitality and the player changing facilities etc. this would then free up the west stand to be developed if it were ever needed. remember, we had PP for all but 20k so we know it fits on the site.

I mean I find it quite funny that you’re going to write the new owners off after *checks notes* 2 months but wanted to give a bloke who’s been diabolical for us in this division for over 70 games more time. They haven't been around for 2 months. Even in their first interview they claimed they were working with Wael on the FM. Why has it suddenly dawned on us to not go through with it. Not writing them off, but saying they are "filling in" stands doesn't fill me with confidence. I hope it was poor english, which is fine, and what we end up with is something that would look respectable in 20 years. We've won again today with Joeys side. This is second season back in league 1. What does the 56 other games have to do with this season, nothing. Correct. We have won with the players he and his team recruited. But he’s not been good enough despite the backing. It really is that simple. The only way the JB trade off works is when you’re doing well as you can hide him behind the football. That interview was clear - people in the club now and in the future will be expected to have very high standards. Nothing wrong with that. Unless you’re in the club currently and not really doing a lot…

To be fair to the new owner . It sounded like he was apologising when he said it would be a 16k stadium hopefully rising to 18K. He knows himself it won't be enough to sustain Championship football. Singupgas is quite right in what he is saying. I honestly believe we will carry on being a yoyo club between divisions 3 & 4 and in time when these owners realise we are going nowhere they will leave. What was the capacity at the start of this season - about 10,000? They are looking to improve the quality of the ground and increase capacity by 60-70% and you’re writing us off as a league one/league two side forever? Why such negativity? Surely if we have a ground that can hold 17000/18000 and more importantly getting that number through the turnstiles why shouldn’t we be aiming for the top end of the championship? Once you have the seats to fill you can start to incentivise fans. Look at how they do it down the road - free shirts etc with season tickets. It’s all about scale.

You’re missing the point. The old ownership model are the ones who said it wasn’t viable and imo that’s because they couldn’t fund it. I'm not missing any point. The new owners can't afford it either hence why their borrowing the money. I'm sure wael could loan the money to build it on his own if he'd have wanted but he said it wasn't commercially viable. You always spend someone else’s money when expanding infrastructure. Business 101.

Genuinely good interview. Seems to be a realist and want a to get sh** done right. I look forward to the preview of the east stand development.

Let’s just rebuild the Mem. Old school stadiums are much more “romantic” anyway. Out of town bowls are boring. You literally can't get anywhere less out of town than the Fruit Market, and that's the only one on the table at the moment (no matter how unlikely it now seems). I do agree though that we should redevelop the Mem, I know I've banged on about this before, but we should re-orientate the pitch 90 degrees, build a new east stand behind the current one then in the off season dismantle the old east stand, re-orientate the pitch, use the current west stand behind the other goal, extend the temporary south stand along what would then be the side touchline, and either extend the Thatcher's or add a temporary stand in the space up to the new East stand, giving a capacity of between 15, and 20,000 depending on how big you build, then redevelop each side as and when. I reckon that the footprint at the Mem is roughly similar to Easter Road, Hibs ground, that's a great ground, just over 20,000 capacity and the option to fill in the corners which I think would take it up to around 27,000. I dread to think of the amount of utility diversions required for that…. But it’s the most sensible answer.

so this is an announcement that states we could be included as part of the development? Or is it we are in and now we need to decide what we build?

I still think the idea is a sound one and I'm happy that it's the direction our club is heading in. If we have the right person managing the young squad I can live with us being relegated this season. We simply have to be sustainable or we will cease to be. I'm glad WAQ is brave enough and has the vision to deliver this. We have to hold our nerve. I said something similar on Twitter. We needed someone to halt the rot and give the club some direction. WAQ seems to have the balls to do this Abs probably knows he will upset some fans but the club needed a change of direction and we now have it.

All this bigging up of academy football- do they do open top bus parades for the winners of the academy leagues now or something? It’s a level of football that bears no real relevance to modern senior football, not least because so many of the players at that level turn out not to be good enough for the full pro game. For every Zaha, Garner and the other lad will have presided over 10 flops but nobody mentions the numerous flops and instead pick up only on the one or two who made it. I despair that so much stock can be put into that level of football. It also seems very weird to me that Wael can spend all that money to clear the debts and yet install such a Poundland management team, no experience of senior football between them and it’s not even like Garner has turned out to be a pleasant surprise- the initial omens have been pretty poor with one of the worst runs in the club’s history, nay, football league history suggesting that there is a massive step up in tactics and theory between coaching some kids on a park and directing a team of men. It’s really frustrating that off the pitch we *finally* look like getting our sh** together but on it we could be in for a very hard season feel free to bring this post back up though if I’m proved wrong- I don’t think I will be! Ultimately, those flops will be the ones that come to use. That’s how I see this working. There will be loads that are not quite ready for PL football or just didn’t get the lucky break. I don’t see it as a bad plan as most of the filtering would have already been down for them to have made it to a prem academy in the first place.

A mate participated and said it was very positive. Well done to everyone who made this happen and thanks to those who took part. Genuinely impressed. TG is a major asset. Karim seems to have the right things to say. IF they are pushing on with everything that they mentioned, then the club, even at the Mem for the foreseeable, will be enjoyable. The big plus's for me are that they seem to be listening: - kids zone for the new season before the matches with a bar as well I think. - Training ground would appear to be very key to everything. looking to involve the community team. going to be a real club hub IMHO - First team in first - U23s next - Gas Girls to also be included. - Training ground is required to contribute to the coffers - additional pitches and facilities will be built as part of the business case. - They are going to share the plans on the OS as this was asked for. Possibly the most interesting thing for me was the SC issue. WAQ addressed this head on and with clarity. Basically eluding to the fact that some previous members were possibly not the right sort of people. They are ready to welcome the right candidate onto the board to represent the fans - they fully know how important we are. TG also actively encouraged people to sign up to the SC and make your voices heard for the future relationship with the club. SC currently hold 3.5% shares I think they said. New ground question raised and shut down pretty quick to be fair as they don't have anything new to say.

Carlo Cudicini was number 1 at Chelsea for over 4 seasons. He was voted Chelseas Player Of The Year in 2001/02, and also won the Premier League Golden Glove Award in 2003. He played 141 times for Chelsea. It was only when Peter Cech signed in 2004 where he found himself as back up. Maybe you were thinking of somebody else. My guess it would be winston bogarde who played 11 games over 4 years for 40k per week There was a Tottenham goal keeper who was just a reserve... not sure he even played.

I went that day too. Got stuffed.. Long journey, never felt so unwelcome in any ground or town.. Never been back to that sh*te hole again.. Truly, truly awful place Our two experiences couldn't be more different, apart from the journey up and result. The journey was horrific, first got stuck in traffic which meant we were going to be touch and go to make the kick off, which also meant no time to stop for a break. As I was the youngest of our group I had the 'pleasure' of sitting in the middle of the back seat for the ride up. Horrific! When we finally got to Barnsley the locals I met couldn't have been friendlier. First someone directed us to somewhere close to oakwell that was free to park and several other fans also shook our hands and wished us well for the rest of the season and journey home. Seemed a friendly bunch to me. If my memory serves me correctly, the coach I was on with a friend witnessed the car accident behind us. We were just being nosey out the back window and saw it happen. Weird.
