I’m sure he’ll love it. He said he’d love a Ricky Lambert shirt from 2007 but I don’t have that one and I imagine it would be difficult to come by but I’m going To try and get a shoe box full of items then send them off to him.

I’ve been talking to Francisco via social media and plan to send him a few more items like old programs, pin badges and I’ll have a look in the attic see if I’ve got any old shirts. Does anyone have any unwanted gas items that they want to donate to this passionate fan? He said in the article and then in his his posts to me that he loves Lambert so does anyone have any programs with Lambert on or any Lambert Rovers themed items, i’m sure you’d love them.
I’m going to the game on Tuesday so I’ll pick up a program for him.
If you’ve got any items you would like to donate please post them or drop them in to my work address.

My brother sent me this article... www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/coach-linked-bristol-rovers-voices-2439191I can see both sides of the issue. He's right in the bigger picture. We're a f**ked up society relying on who you know, who you played for etc. But the reality with him seems to be that he has flitted between jobs and now is happy to run off abroad rather than stay here. As someone said on here, all these people who've worked with him say how good he is but did any of them offer him an asst mgr position?? Who knows? If not, why not? Does anyone even know if he actually applied to us? I reckon he'll probably do ok somewhere, but I also bet he'll be a nightmare somewhere. Sounds a bit 'entitled' & happy to go to the press. Why has he been singled out as this perfect specimen? Surely there must be loads like him out there - just need to find them . Sorry, I'm just being devil's advocate. IMO you can't complain about not entering higher up the food chain yet not been humble enough to have managed at non-lge level. As one of the only people on here that had met and worked with Ben I can say for sure he’s not “entitled”. Ben gave his time free of charge to help rovers fans with mental health difficulties by running a coaching session followed by a inspirational talk. Ben has been great for the nhs and community trust project and he really had a positive effect on the players wellbeing and motivation. Ben has helped the project behind the scenes a little by giving us some of his Contacts like other professional players Or coaches to run some of the sessions at the recovery through sport group which helps gas fans and Bristolians. I know it’s hard to put ourselfs in his shoes but try to imagine coaching in the premier league working with elite athletes to then being told the only way you’ll get a managers job is in the conference. also try to imagine the stress of being out of work for nearly a year whilst having to provide for a young family. Before people say he was on good wages in the prem I can’t imagine they were enough to live on for a year with a family. Bens visit to the project : Players experience:

Stadium size does not equate to quality football though. As the vast majority of the squad appear to be players of Indian origin and Indian footballers are hardly sought after worldwide you do have to question quite how much his career will develop over there. Coppell isn't exactly an impressive name to be working under either. IIRC last I heard Phil Brown was managing over there I think it is a questionable decision too, but I'd imagine he is being paid quite well for a few months work. He is replacing Wally Downes in the role who is now manager at Wimbledon. Yea I imagine it’s a very good bit of money until the summer which he can then return and look to getting a management post. To be fair if you’v been out of work for 6 months and you’ve got a family and someone is prepared to pay you crazy money your going to take it. He can still apply for jobs over here whilst he’s over there. You never know if it doesn’t work with GC and there looking for a replacement in the summer he might apply for the Rovers job but this time the board will interview applicants.

BristolLive understand the 44-year-old Irishman is set to be given the position full time. Coughlan joined the Gas as defence coach in the summer and was previously a little seen member of the coaching staff but when long term manager Darrell Clarke left the club on December 13, with his assistant manager Marcus Stewart following, the former defender was asked to step up to the top job and he did so in style. With 48 hours notice Coughlan, who was previously head coach at Southend United under manager Phil Brown, transformed Rovers into a highly competitive outfit which almost rocked Sunderland at the Stadium of Light before going down 2-1. Since that initial game Coughlan has cemented his case for the job full time by not losing again, setting Rovers on a three game winning streak, beating Fleetwood 2-1, Walsall 3-1 and Oxford United 3-1 before drawing 0-0 with Burton Albion on New Year’s day. The impressive turn around in form, which has seen the manager get the players believing again, has dragged the club out of the relegation zone up to 19th. Coughlan has already established himself as a firm fan favourite as the latest saviour of the club and has already made a habit of passionately celebrating with the adoring Gasheads after victories. The club are expected to announce the appointment this weekend with the Rovers without a game as their scheduled opponents Peterborough United are in action in the FA Cup away at Championship side Middlesbrough. The Pirates are next in action on Tuesday away at Northampton Town in the third round of the Checkatrade Trophy. Also gone to 1/8 with sky bet and 1/5 with betvictor with Flynn and Garner pushed out. Apart of me is wondering why the club haven’t announced this yet as it’s nearly 24 hours after the article went up unless they still haven’t decided. Why would they leave it so long if he was the man for the job? I’ve got a feeling there’s one more twist before we find out who’s the next manager.

gasfishponds what's your connection to BG given you only seem to be posting on this and the other manager's thread? gaschat.co.uk/user/3109/recentYou're making him a appear a bit desperate for a manager's job. Sorry if it’s coming across very keen by me it’s mainly because I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with Ben on a project I run. He ran a coaching session for my player and was a true professional. I was really taken aback on how good he was with the players and the other coaches and everyone listened when he spoke mainly because he clearly knew what he was talking about.. After the session he did a talk about his life as a player then a coach and the Ups and downs that comes with it which was really inspiring. He also talked about his work coaching players like Zaha and Clyne and the work he did with them in the youth teams then 1st team. I’m lucky enough to have seen him at work and I’ve followed his work closely since then on his twitter account so maybe I’m abit biased but I honestly believe his mentality, passion and experience in coaching would fit well at rovers. Sorry again for being a bit of a fanboy.

From looking through this thread a lot I can see there’s a few fans still not yet fully convinced on Ben Garner as the next manager so what would you need from him or the club to convince you he’s the right man? For me I’d like Ben to say he’ll be bring a senior head to his coaching staff And someone he’s worked with before maybe someone like Gerry Francis. GF has got great experiences and is a gas legend. Thought? What about Lennie Lawrence then? he’s also worked with LL who’s now at Newport. LL did a great job at Rovers. How about LL as his mentor like he did with PT.

If you look at other threads Ben Garner is definitely being mentioned more and more then other candidates. I honestly think he would be a great addition maybe with a senior assistant coach to offer his a few words of wisdom. If you read the feedback other top managers have given on Ben it’s really hard not to saying he’s the best person to take rovers forward as a long term successors to DC. I also think the players will really buy into his Philosophy. Another post about Ben Garner from you Fishponds? Something fishy afoot here. You got a bet on with Pirate or what!? Possibly 😂😂 he’s 16/1 sounds like a great bet to me 😂😂

He was scouting in this country (alongside his coaching) and also since he left West Brom, so I'm sure he will have a decent knowledge of League One. He also took charge of Albion's games in the Checkatrade Trophy so he will have analysed and scouted those League One and League Two teams. Asked about his coaching philosophy, he said: "My philosophy is a combination of my beliefs alongside the experience I have gained throughout my career. I have been fortunate enough to work with some very experienced Managers and have benefitted from some great mentors. It is impossible for me to explain my philosophy in a statement or a few sentences. First and foremost I believe that how you manage people and your personal values underpin everything from a football perspective. Without those the best playing philosophy in the World will not be successful. In a football sense the key fundamentals are being organised collectively in every phase of the game. I believe in everything being done with a purpose. The coaching methodology must produce the desired playing philosophy. Tactical periodisation forms the basis of my methodology but in my opinion to be successful at the highest level you have to possess the intuition and the gut instinct as well as the science. After 20 years of coaching experience I now have great confidence that my philosophy will be successful as a Head Coach/Manager. However, I also know that it will continually need to evolve and improve throughout the remainder of my career." footballcoaching.co.nz/ben-garner-previous-premier-league-first-team-coach-uk/And what's your thoughts on the records of coaches who have turned to management? 😂😂 Possibly at 16/1 why not
