As a maintenance contractor I visit a lot of different sites, the one thing you can guarantee is that in every tea room or canteen will be a group of people who think they can run the company better, always picking fault with the management, they should do this or they should do that. Never in receipt of all the facts they just assume to know best.. This forum should be renamed the gas chat tea room, so many could do better but in reality don’t have a clue about running a business or how to conduct the negotiation of a deal. Maybe the board should tell us everything is in place and has been for sometime and string us along that Sainsbury’s are our best friends..

Masterstroke today was having Mansell involved, teams need characters and he has it in abundance.

If the league table was based on goals against we would be equal 8. That fact tells me there’s not too much wrong with defence Craig and all.. Goals is the problem and until that’s sorted we are in trouble..

We lose, but we lost better? Got to say it, I can only recall us getting trounced once all season which was last week, and coughlan made the same mistakes as DC, which was picking tony Craig, playing players out of position in THD and coming from a winning position to get beat. THD played on the left, because he is left footed and was played for reason, listen to the interview.

Just had a listen to the interim managers interview,
thought he talked a lot of sense, sounds like they had a plan, team was selected to play a certain way, which worked ok until
the changes were made, all enforced, said the 3 that came on didn't influence the game as he would have hoped
both Sunderland goals were preventable..

No brainer from me, get him in, very high profile will bring lots of attention to the club, possibly increase revenues. Will have lots of contacts, as will Tony Grant, something DC lacked, even if he doesn't keep us up the excitement levels going to rise for few months.

Does it have to be players? Can't we ship out the CEO (remind me, who is he again?) the chairman and commercial director that should free up a few quid to buy a striker. If it has to be players then it would be Lines (provided that we don't cash in on Sercombe), Payne, Nichols, Bennett and Upson. Anything could happen though depending on other loans, will Bonham stay? Will Martin stay? Are we still paying Mensah and Slocombes wages? If Bonham leaves does Slocombe get recalled? If not then we also need to sign a keeper..... Without big changes in January we will be relegated. Think they have freed up a few quid to buy strikers, Payne and Nichols both cost good money, DC just paid over the top for rubbish, don’t blame the board they didn’t pick the players.

Bruce Bannister Paul Randall Geoff Bradford Has to be these 3, they all played ans scored goals at the highest level we ever played at, would be equal to the championship today...

Lots on here worry about the debt the club has created but its nothing compared to the 82ers.
Bristol City holding company publishes its results and as grim as the football club itself.
Losses £24 million and total losses over the last 6 years total £94 million,
(I took the liberty of editing the thread title for people who don't want to read about the 82ers -AF)

Was a good evening(Thanks Football Index for all the free beers, feeling it a little the day after). Tommy W took some tough questions but was very honest and insightful. Sounds like he has a very professional team behind him scouting all levels and locations across England. Tom Lockyer spoke well. Was interesting to hear him talk about how certain 'nasty' social media posts can negatively effect the team, not nice to hear to be honest. Although the abuse side of last night has, quite rightly, got quite a lot of the attention on here, as a muck around central defender myself the TL section about playing for Wales was very interesting. Said he feels it is easier playing at that level as the game is played in front of him, rather than constantly trying to get behind him (r.g. long balls / long passes) and close to him. A good explanation of how some so-called average players at a certain level can fit in well at a higher level or even look better. That is something I've heard before but still it was great to hear it in real life from a real person. Also loved how he described how good mark mcchrystal was for him / his game / as Captain. BTW on a physical note, TL is pretty slim & light, which has relevance for the point above. Maybe he's suited to passing football more than attritional football. Thought this was a good post until I read the last sentence.

Reading some feed back on twitter this morning on the football Index evening at the Mem last night. Tom Lockyear and Tommy Widdrington taking questions,
TW said the regional scouts (yes we have some) have looked at over 350 different players and are still assessing 200 of them. So there is a lot of activity going on regards recruitment.
Good evening all round apparently shame I missed it.

Land for sale at Cribbs ? after government block proposed expansion.
Government policy now says city centres first for development in retail and entertainment,
could mean no arena at Filton as well.
Just need some enterprising company to come in and buy all that land from the hangers to the Mall enough land to build thousands of houses and a stadium.

Having a last minute meeting pop up on a Sunday for starters. I had my own business until recently and cant recall ever having a Sunday meeting, but if it was THAT important I am sure another family member with a bit more 'clout' could attend? We must remember Wael's day job is banking, that bank is based in Jordon and like the rest of the middle east the working week is actually Sunday to Thursday, with the weekend based around Friday & Saturday, so having a meeting on a Sunday for them is like having a meeting on Monday for us.

I think the new sponsorship's are great, makes a change to have nationally identified companies - football index have over 156,000 followers on twitter alone, its bound to raise our profile, well done Tom. For those that don't like it and pine for the old amateur days with mates making a mess, go forth and multiply.

So now we have a President who is going to be spending more time on club affairs, a new CEO starting this summer, a chairmen and a very good commercial director, something BIG must be coming or the previous lot were over worked.
