Hmmmm, don't think we're capable of 101 points, especially if we start like they did...9 pts from the first 3 games will suit me fine...

There will also be a few changes from the World Cup game. First of all, games involving Rovers and City will score extra points (2 for a correct result, 6 for a correct scoreline). Also I know that the commitment to play week in week out is a big one, so I'll be doing two things to help with this. Firstly I'll get the fixtures up nice and early, hopefully one month in advance. Secondly, to allow people to miss a week here or a week there and yet still have a chance to win, the scores will be done on an average basis...this will be easier to explain once we get started. Also forgot to mention the tiebreakers...if two players are level on points then positions will be decided by: - Most correct score predictions
- Most rounds played
- Who has given my posts the most likes recently...

Well the new season is just around the corner...so it's time to get your thinking hats on and see what you know about the Conference. This will (in general) work the same as the World Cup Predictions game. I'll give you the list of matches (grouped together around one weekend or one midweek wherever possible). You predict a score for each of the games. There will be 1 point awarded for a correct result, and 4 awarded for a correct score-line(*). Results will be tallied as and when I can be bothered. Entries for each round will close at one hour BEFORE the first match in that round starts. You should not edit your prediction posts at all, certainly not after the matches have started. Funny opening ceremony, good use of Celtic Park and an excellent transformation of Hampden Park into the athletics venue...good start Glasgow, good start...

...well, in terms of developing young players and selling them on for a profit, we're much better off out of the football league...since (I think) that means we're not bound by EPPP rules...but also means we'll soon stop getting EPPP funding...Dario will probably tell DC we're better off outside the top four tiers if he wants to go back to the days where we found those great youngsters and sold them for the big bucks...but to do that you either have to be good or lucky, and Rovers are neither of those recently, so the best we can hope for is a quick return to the league, some EPPP funding and then having our young players 'pinched' for nominal fees by a Premier League team...

Not sure we can 'downsize' in time to meet the next 'seasonal' deadline anyway, as it would need a new planning decision. Simple in theory, but planning permission for the UWE was 'easy' because a stadium with a capacity over 20,000 met the criteria of the South Gloucestershire Council Local Plan. Anything under that I suspect will be a much harder challenge...

Got to say I am more than worried with the build up so far. Surely the players should all be getting game time now. we still need a strong cb and a strong cf. we have no spine to our side. They should all be in place by now and gelling as a unit. Disagree entirely tbh. Macca is a perfectly capable strong CB and Brunt is that strong CF. We need more signings but that's for depth, I would say our spine is solidI disagree. What is our spine doing tomorrow afternoon, 3 weeks before the first game of the season? The build-up to me so far is great in terms of communication but to me looks worrying in terms of building a winning squad...

DC claims he hasn't signed anyone because they either dont want to sign for us or want too much money. Maybe its as simple as that ? A sensible answer like that won't satisfy the conspiracy theorists. A sensible point...but it also still means we're 3*/4*/5*/7* players short of a First Team squad (*delete as appropriate), a squad that we were told would be in place before pre-season started....

Don't really agree with the squad he's putting out. Considering Bath are only a division below us I think it would have been a good test for most of our first team. Also would give DC a chance to see our weakness and get it sorted before the real stuff starts. Squad is so small, doesn't want to risk injuries ? U18s are having fewer pre-season games ? Could be the reason, but if it is then it is a reason that will suggest failure once the season starts. If pro footballers can't play a full pre-season, how far are they going to get through the real season before they break down? Also, this is a (friendly) game that paying fans of both Rovers and one of the most important clubs in our history will be paying to watch...in my opinion, a weak pre-season will only lead to a weak season. I hope I am proved wrong...

The strategy: Sign players who want to play for the shirt and play for small wages is a difficult one. Sounds great to us the fans, but to agents and players it must be "Good luck with that then!" If they aren't Gasheads why would they want to play for the shirt/come to Bristol? Are we a big club even? It looks like we're finding out the hard way that players aren't interested. Lets say Waitrose pay £9 per hour for workers, but to save money and to get harder working staff they pay £5 per hour and ask that only people who really want to work for Waitrose apply............ I'm not moaning just playing devils advocate It's difficult but not impossible... ...we need to remind players (and as importantly agents) that we have a history of taking young enthusiastic players and selling them on....and whilst most are in the dim and distant past, they should be thinking of the next big payout, rather than the one to come here... ...will we get turned down sometimes? Yes. Will we get a calibre of player who can improve the club and then move onto better things? I hope so, as that's the kind of player we want to be saying yes to us...
