I’m reeling from the news that the earth isn’t flat 😮 Yet the Flat Earth Society "has members across the globe". 🤣🤣

Then there is little point in even writing that then is there. Oh, I’ve heard this from someone, it could be true, but might not be and I could be talking bollocks (again) but I won’t commit to actually saying that in case it is actually bollocks (again). Are you Boris Johnson? Well they both talk bollocks so there’s quite the similarity.

Ah yes, the halcyon days of Twerton.
They are becoming like Uncle Alberts war stories.

Maybe the club wanted it to be known that there was a relevant reason for firing him, otherwise there may be speculation about unfair dismissal. From the little i have managed to gather it was something to do with driving a family members car sans insurance but that is all i have heard. It would be wrong of me to post the rest as it’s not proven and could cause problems that may not be, at all, true Then there is little point in even writing that then is there. People leave employment for pastures new all the time And if you asked those people why they left their jobs some people will be pretty scathing why. Doesn’t mean it’s actually a bad company to work for, they have just fallen out of love with it and small molehills seem much larger mountains. I’ve not seen or heard of any constructive or unfair dismissals going on and I think we would have heard about it by now if there has, especially with the certain clique around the club that just love to throw mud about the place. Like Topper and aghast have said, it’s a pretty erroneous claim with no evidence to substantiate what you are saying and just because some people have left since TG is in charge is certainly not evidence to enforce your claims. Then I would suggest you haven't done your research, sir....or not thoroughly enough. Which is fine. As others have posted, there is no official online evidence of such claims. If there is, then it’s in the public domain and you would be free to copy and paste a link here with no ramifications. That’s about as far as my interest goes in the subject in all honesty and if there is an unfair dismissal case either in progress or settled then that will be a matter of confidentiality.

So he is on gardening leave then? I don't think there has been that suggestion. I think had he been, had left or even anything that had gone sideways the same way as the club sec we would have heard something.

For a club spokeman to state there was a "disciplinary issue" means there must have been something, otherwise that's false information which could lead to unfair dismissal. However, the employer still reserves the right to terminate a persons contract within the probationary period with 1 weeks notice up to 6 months and 1 months notice up to 12 months if it is decided that the person is a poor fit for the company in terms of the individuals personal performance.

But that isn’t the clubs fault is it, that’s the individual. I’ve interviewed and hired many people, some of them give a real good account of themselves and when they start they turn out to be your biggest mistake. You can never predict how a new employee will go. I’ve seen them all from brilliant and exemplary employees, to serial sickees and thieves but you try and differentiate them at interview and it’s tough. Yes 1981 some people interview very well but after conducting hundreds of interviews you need to be able to distinguish between what people say and the evidence for it in references etc. Mistakes can happen but I ’d say in such a technical post such as a club secretary then the club should recognise that one of the criteria for the post should be a similar type of experience. I’d say at 21 he would not have had that. Im sure you’ve seen as many strange characters as I have in interviews and sometimes it’s what references don’t say and what they’ve obviously excluded that should be a warning sign. (I hope that the ‘serial sickees and thieves’ didn’t cost you too much!) UTG! ps. Come on mods combine these two club secretary threads. You can spot a wrong un a mile off, but you also get some that can talk a good game (Ben Garner) to use a good example, but then they execute poorly or make serious errors of judgement. I've only had to dismiss 3 people in 15 years of being self employed, one for being utterly incompetent, one for a consistent poor performance which led to a dangerous error, and one for theft. Thankfully 2 out of 3 of those people happened inside the probationary period so it was easy to dismiss them but the theft issue was slightly harder as it involved a union and someone who had worked for me for an extended period. Clearly, a "disciplinary issue" means that there has been some misconduct of some kind which termination of contract was the only option and fairly straight forward as I would imagine there is a 6 month probationary period like all standard employment contracts. Is Club Secretary such a technical post? Not wishing to do down what Dave Sams did in the past but its mainly an admin based role that once you are au fait with systems and proceedures you should be able to carry out as long as you are proactive and organised of which age shouldn't be a factor. For example, at 21 I was running workshops of 15 men twice my senior, sure I made mistakes, but the job was about efficiency, productivity and organisation and I was able to do it. I've got a 22 year old in my business at the moment who is just absolutely superb, keen, competent, organised and is also willing to continue his learning curve. I had reservations about taking him on, but he's proven his worth over the last year.

Maybe he'd done a brilliant job at Swindon and came with great references. Nothing indicates this is a shambles, unless of course you have inside information that he was hired on a dirt cheap rate and nobody checked his credentials first. It’s a shambles he funked up after a matter of weeks in th job! But that isn’t the clubs fault is it, that’s the individual. Nice attitude towards someone trying to understand and help your situation. Sorry mate its just I get so annoyed at some comments on here especially as I was attacked at a recent game by a person sitting in the stand above the west enclosure.not only attacked but verbally abused over something he may have heard me say to a friend.he was so brave he jumped back so I couldn't reach him and when I told a steward he didn't want to know. That and bring told to b....r off to Ashton Gate makes me want to give up Did you threaten to break his legs?
