Best of luck to Slam, he had a poisened chalice with that role. With regard to the SC attracting young and dynamic supporters, sadly, I think that ship has sailed. The FC don't have many. (Young and dynamic fans that is). Many of the kids I see at matches are more interested in looking at their screens to see if Arsenal have won a corner so they win their bets ( loads of under 18s say they have won a tenner when Liverpool win etc). Well they look about ten years old to me. They're probably fresh faced junior doctors or sommat.

The SC once upon a time had some influence, sway and experience from individuals on a level with our then owners. That changed when football started getting more expensive and the levels changed and the SC voted away their rights. So now its nothing more than token gesture system when it comes to being able to influence to get the club to do anything. Has to be said they did a great job of arranging the evening with the owners and we need more of that kind of thing. It will create much more of a togetherness between supporters and owners rather than a them and us sort of situation. The SC needs to be more dynamic in getting some younger members on board at club level which then can move into the executive ranks and only then will it become more of a force again. The last time the directorships were available JC blackballed everyone he didnt like or who questioned his ability to chair. I'm not saying Steve and Helen were poor picks, but it was a good opportunity to advertise it to ones who could bring experience and skills which would help modernise the club and draw a younger audience. Hopefully that could happen this time around. I thought they did advertise and as always no one offered! There used to be a route from YP to the SC as fans. With that gone, the SC membership will be less and less as us old fogeys die off. I thought SLAM and Helen took over the thankless task only because no one else would do it. Your right the SC reps is just a gesture and a box ticking exercise. Looks good on engagement awards nights though! I get the impression if the SC reps ask for anything the board don't even listen - cashless, programmes, SC events at the Mem etc I'm sure they have raised more issues, probably ST fiasco, communication, disabled access, Gas Girls at the Mem, kids prices etc but they are probably told to keep schtum, so we never hear about it. As you say let's hope some 30 / 40 year olds want to refresh the club. Good luck to em.

Evans v Stevenage, or v Newport or Browns goal from the start of the season.
Haven't been to many always so have not seen them all, but not that many "worldies" either for or against this season.
Had to start a new non JB, TG, Stadium thread for my own sanity!

The ST fiasco was a known to be a potential issue beforehand. Some on here said Tom told them individually there could have been issues before matches.
A big problem was the fact that any potential issue was not immediately disclosed on the website or other social media to let other fans know.
It was a lottery to know if you could get in or not.
It seems too often TG communicates to individuals when the wider fan base should be told something.
Hopefully he and others at the club learns from this type of mistake.
It's not right that I get more information from posters than the club. Hopefully the new media man can improve things ready for next season.

It says something when the best players mentioned are:
Evans, Martin, Ward, Thomas, Jed, Conteh, Taylor
And only one of those is likely to appear in over 35 league games. Some won't have hardly played half the number of games a season.
They say it is a squad game nowadays, but there is such a disparity between our best possible fully fit X1 and the side we have scrambled to put together in many games, with too many like Vale having to put in a shift when out of position.

Evans for me based on the whole season. Ward has been out most consistently good player, when fit.
Young player will be closer Conteh, Taylor or Jed.

Fair play, seems to have already made improvements to the website.
Interesting article about the international players.
Aguilera v Messi could be one to watch!

I think both Taunton and Torquay are at home.
As mentioned don't forgot the chance to see a Rovers team lift a trophy at the Mem on Sunday

Just got in and turned on the radio.
Had to double check we are not playing Whelan as a lone centre back again.
If Gordon was fit and we played 4 at the back with Hoole would that have made a difference?
Chance for Beefy to show he is worth the £100k plus that JB paid for him.

Brown has been a disappoinment especially with all the shenanigans and JB bigging him up.
Hopefully he gets the second year bounce a la Hinton, Campbell, Lescott etc who were much better after their initial season at the club.

Call me greedy but when in my lifetime have we had much success, so I want both!
So England for Euro, WC, Home Championship, Inter toto malarkey, and Rovers for promotion, Mickey Mouse, League Cup and FA cup.
Alternatively, I'd settle for the youth/ reserves winning the Gloucestershire Cup, or the Fry's sixes!

Seems as if we have now gone back to coughlan ball. A packed turgid defensive line with one guy up top to score a goal.all them wasted years after ipswich Agreed to a point. If Big John didn't seem to lose his way in front of goal, maybe MT would have played two up front a few times by now? Then again all season we have been short of forwards. Still, better to wait until the summer and get a player or three they actually want, than waste the Collins money on whoever was available. Good to see Greenslade score and apparently start playing well in the National League, so maybe he might get a few chances from the bench next season as 4/5th choice. I can see Martin starting about 15 and being supersub for the rest of the games next season.

To the chagrin of a few others, I hope he plays 4 at the back with Gordon and Hoole.
TBH towards the end of the season, I would look to play Connolly rather than Baggott. He is under contract for next season and had a great partnership with Connor before.
Throw in Jed and that is a very young defence.

2006 won 2-3 with 89th equaliser and 90th minute winner - that was a good day, last time I went there .. I think 🤔 Yeah big John Anderson scoring a rare goal. Away end (and side) went absolutely mental. Seem to remember players actually in the away end and fans on the pitch. Didn't Trolls and Lennie say bid John was going to be our scout in Scotland looking at potential young talent in the Highland league?

Great way to spend Mothers Day.
Mind you perfect for those who have a Les Dawson type mother in law I suppose!
Were currently chopping spuds ready for a late dinner, bit like national service but better than being at AG!

While on the train home, really Enid Blyton hahaha. Only Gordons and Hoole's nearest and dearest would think either could be classed as being a footballer, the pair are absolutely shocking, and watching them yesterday I am sure, even good old monotone Matty, must be thinking I cannot play these two clowns in the first 10 games of next season, or I will be back looking out of the sunny window with Mr Tisdale by November. Perfectly entitled to your opinion, but you may have witnessed Gordon walking round the pitch and receive very warm applause by supporters all around the areas he walked. Both very young with scope to improve physically and mentally to professional football and a chance to learn about the dark arts and gain vital experience and know how. The FACT that thousands of youngsters don't make it by the age of 16 and both Hoole and Gordon have been signed on by clubs and then have contracts renewed and selected by several different managers, perhaps show they may have some ability? Both have only recently recovered from injury and have not been included in settled sides. I would guess that if they were playing full back for a confident, quality side like Derby, who have various fast forward minded players that give their defenders many passing options, some open minded Rovers fans would be thinking, if only we could develop young players like that. When Hoole and Gordon got the ball and looked up, what options did they have? Forward to Martin, who was superbly marshalled all game and didn't get a sniff, a Beckenbauer wonder ball to the opposite wing, or a sideways pass to the midfielders who were quite often level(or behind them), or an easy ball back to retain possession? If he had EA in front of him to come and show for the ball, I would imagine a lot more people would rate Gordon. I like Vale but he seems to have been badly affected by his illness and concentration seems to have suffered. It maybe easy in hindsight but several times Gordon had to stick or twist, meaning go to the player that ran past Vale or stay with his own man, or when he made ground upfield and then have to backtrack to get back into position after Finley gave the ball away. Good sides like Derby take advantage of those slips. Just mark it down as a bad day at the office. No shame in losing to a quality team, but a big learning curve for Hoole and Gordon. I for one was glad to see Gordon communicating to older more experienced colleagues - asking them to show for a pass, or why they did not shout that he had time, when he just headed the ball out for a throw. To me it shows he cares and that he is developing, as he always appeared quiet before. As I said before, Gordon at age 24, with 50 to 100 plus appearances is going to be a different player to Gordon at 21. Oh and I am not his or Luca's nearest or dearest!

With the talk of the high percentages the traders get from the fan zone on other threads, presumably profits from the Thatchers bars all go to Rovers?
Better than the £0.00 the club makes from the Welly.

I was wavering between a 2-1 win or defeat today so going to plump for 2-2 (as also think it's been a while since we had one of them). Lineup-wise, not too keen on our right back options as it would mean either moving Gordon over or bringing in Hoole, who's too rusty IMO to start this one. Sounds like Derby have fullback issue too and will likely go 3 at the back, I can see Taylor deciding to match up with them, so: Ward Crama Taylor Baggott Thomas Finley Conteh Vale Evans Martin Brown I think we are better suited to 4 at the back. Having Sinclair in front of Gordon gives him an outlet, rather than having to go back, or just have Martin to aim at. Luca looked very good in the 5 minute cameo a few weeks ago when he put in two thumping tackles and looked to drive forward. Hopefully he did well in the reserve game in midweek. His pace and height at full back could be an asset.
