This afternoon we witness a Gas masterclass on how to win a football game in style. Forget League Two, we had goals this afternoon that would have been fit for a World Cup final. Aaron Collins with the right foot curler from the edge of the box. Elliot Anderson with a perfect reproduction of the Ricky Villa goal for Tottenham in the 1981 FA Cup Final. Aaron Collins with the cheekiest of chips over the keeper. Gas heaven. We also witnessed football being played the right way. I cannot enthuse enough about how well we passed the ball around. Lovely one touch possession football. I am of course ignoring the first 20 minutes when we played as strangers. We have the makings of a REALLY GOOD Bristol Rovers team here. Defensively solid, a creative midfield with bite and a classy striker who is full of confidence. It is difficult to pick out individual players as the whole team contributed to the result. It was an excellent team performance. What a player Elliot Anderson is though. Classy, hardworking and effective. Aaron Colins was a pleasure to watch today, the guy is on fire. Loved the little boxing celebration down by us in the South West stand. We certainly knocked the stuffing out of Harrogate Town, that's for sure. I also love Luca Hoole. Effective and solid defensively, with some nice creative touches and excellent distribution. Taylor and Connolly were rock solid as always. Finley was everywhere and the heart of everything. Outstanding performances throughout the team. We started nervously, something we seem to do quite a bit, and something we need to avoid when we meet the big boys in the next few weeks. Harrogate could easily have nicked a goal or two at the start, with some dangerous crosses fizzing across our box. As in recent games, by the midway point of the first half we took control, scored two goals and never looked like conceding let along losing the game. Belshaw got a really good welcome by the Harrogate fans as he ran over to his goal at the start of the second half. Good to see the respect. The third goal killed the game as a contest, and for once we could all sit back and enjoy a game of football with no drama... A big home crowd, festival atmosphere (loved the band before the game - nothing better than walking into the ground with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Foo Fighters. Happy days!), dominant performance, wonder goals. This afternoon had everything. It sure feels good to be a Gashead right now. I am loving it! Another season high league position of 8th, just outside the playoffs on goal difference only. We are only three points off second place! (Going) Up The Gas! The Bard of Bristol good write up 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️⚽️ The Gas are coming!

Luke has great talent he will be vital in the run in, he talks highly of joey and the constant hugs prove no problem between them.
I think we will get promoted and he will become a permanent signing, who will flourish next season.

With so many clubs covered by so few points it means the Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday gives the chance for two wins out of three to really shift you up the table. We’ve worked hard to get us back into this position, don’t waste it now because two winnable home games coming up and 6 points from those 2 matches could see us in the top 3 next Tuesday night. Then it becomes a different pressure, a much different feeling. Tbf to the team and JB they have recovered well from any setback to win the next match and keep going. And we’ve been winning games. Port Vale had a long unbeaten run but it was mainly draws which, tbh, isn’t that good. Much better to WLW than DDD or even WDD. Obviously I’d take a D rather than a L any day but when you’re on a good run you need to win which we’ve been doing. But, take nothing for granted, get a win in the Harrogate match and then move on. UTG! We have to keep chipping away like we are now and we will make the play offs. Automatics still very possible too. My only concern is that the highest placed league team we have beaten away from home was Crawley last night (13th). We have to play Northampton, Tranmere & Port Vale away. Therefore we could really do with winning the next two home games to set us up for the tough away games coming up. Totally agree this is where Captain Coutts and whelan will be vital, as the season moves on some of our younger players might be more jittery, having said that youngsters have no fear. Two wins at home are vital we have a big part to play! The big blue and white horse needs big backing!

Nice article/interview with the boy Connolly here 👏👏👏 Must have a chance of him staying, just need another centre half as Connor will obviously go back to Stoke.

Can anybody understand who JB's referring to when he suggests certain players given their chance yesterday may not play again this season, as I can't see the likes of Whelan and Evans not figuring again between now and May, and I also doubt his big signing, Loft, won't get some game time. Watched Arch so never even listened, and when I saw the comments I looked at the player ratings and can only assume Loft and Nolan possibly? Hope someone on here who watched can assist out of interest.

Draw would be the best outcome or Exeter win, rather have Mansfield in play offs if we hit some fences 😂

Finally we have an actual terrace chant for a current player, that’s short, easy to remember, to the point & goes along to the tune of an already popular favourite up and down the country! “We’ve got Evans, Anthony Evans, I just don’t think you understand He’s Joey Barton’s man, He’s better than Zidane, We’ve got Anthony Evans” Hopefully will catch on as popular as the Gaffney tune & significantly reduce (the wayyyy too many) mentions of those red wrong un’s across the river. Learn it, memorise it & belt it out loud every time he’s running the show. Another chart hit for stock peter Aitken and Waterman 😂🏴☠️

I sometimes wonder what our scouting network is all about. The best centre forward I've seen at the Mem this season was Keiffer Moore - a West Country lad languishing at Forest Greem this time last year - Ipswich took a punt on him and bought him for £10k. Woukd he have come to us on loan last summer instead of Rotherham? He would have been an ideal signing playing alongside Ellis and could have saved us the thick end of £300k + we paid for Nicholls. And he has performed much better in a higher league than Christian Doidge. Trouble is I don’t think we have a scouting network, will Dubey scouring the net. We are miles behind clubs, it is short sighted, get Pirate from here to do it. Perhaps the forum should sponsor him instead of our players! Taken 5 years for someone to agree with me joey where are the scouts? 😂😂😂

Please dont get carried away. Take one game at a time Haha I was joking. In truth I think it’s way too easy to just say draw all the tough games and win the rest. Newport Saturday will be a real real test, for example. We’re bound to lose 3+ games in the remaining 13 I wanted to see Nolan play last night and save others for Saturday, also Luke Thomas looked very good recently. There is no one to fear why can t we do a Man city and Liverpool and win mostly and draw occasionally. We have some quality players, with a decent bench to make changes, and need to seize this opportunity. 13 fences to go we need to be riding off the Bridle to win this Gold cup!

Two word response Aaron Collins, being a striker you need confidence and goals, look at Harry Kane suffered at the start of the season.
He will come good, fast big unit just needs games.

Well that was bad for my health, so tense and nervous, we tried to walk the ball in. Thought it was strange taking Geordie Messi off,but the scouse Messi saved the night what a strike. Got to say Barrow defended well, but the time wasting and constant fouling means I'm not a great fan of them. Belly wonder save at the end, the signing which I thought and many others as being odd has been the pick of the bunch. Say it quietly, The Gas are coming!

Excellent hospitality Saturday, enjoyed listening to Joey pre match, upon leaving noticed the lights helping the grass grow in both goals, very impressive. Worth listening to Radio Bristol from last Thursday after 630 pm the guys who compile compilations of clips during the match and send them straight to the bench, very informative and good listen. Glad you had a good one in Hospitality. We're there for the Harrogate game. Wasn't you starting trouble back there was it? No mate lover not a fighter! When joey walked in the hospitality there were a few Exeter fans who booed him, he never knew who they supported though, and he mentioned I'm still getting some boo s. You ll enjoy it mate
