George Williams would be worth inviting in for pre-season following his release by Forest Green. He's obviously been unlucky with injuries, but worth assessing in training and friendlies and then maybe discuss a short term deal or a pay as you play deal due to injury record if he was willing. On his day he has tremendous ability and has been capped 7 times by Wales at full international level. Still only 24-years-old. I’d be looking at his Forest Green Welsh counterpart, Liam Shepherd. Good right back for that division, was surprised to read that he was released.

Absolutely rapid and an absolute powerhouse physically. Tremendous potential. Could make us a few quid in the future if he develops even further like I think he could.

A few realistic-ish players I wouldn't mind us targeting, but obviously will change when all the retained/released lists are confirmed STRIKERS: Ryan Cassidy (Watford, loan), Liam Cullen (Swansea, loan), Lewis Dobbin (Everton, loan), Jay Stansfield (Fulham, loan), Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (loan or permanent free?), Danny Loader (Reading, out of contract), Elliot Lee (Luton, out of contract), Dominic Samuel (Blackburn, out of contract), Jordy Hiwula (free), Fraser Preston* (Sheffield Wednesday, out of contract) *can also play as a winger WINGERS: Diallang Jaiyesimi (free), Randell Williams (Exeter, out of contract?), Jordan Clark (Accrington, out of contract), Jordan Graham (free), J'Neil Bennett (Tottenham, loan), Alex Mighten (Nottingham Forest, loan), Joseph Hungbo (Watford, loan or permanent free) CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS: Callum Gribbin (Sheffield United, loan or permanent), George Moncur (Luton, loan or permanent) Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa, loan), Taylor Perry (Wolves, loan), Max Sanders (Brighton, loan or permanent), Matt O'Riley (Fulham, loan or permanent), Adam Phillips (Burnley, out of contract), George Thomas (Leicester, out of contract), Callum Camps (Rochdale, out of contract), Ethan Chislett (Aldershot, out of contract?) I’d love for us to sign Danny Loader if Reading let him go but I’d be surprised if they did. I reckon he could score goals in League One next year and if he’s doing that at the age of 19/20, there’d be no reason why he couldn’t go right to the top. Reading not too far away either so it wouldn’t be completely unrealistic to go for him if he were to get released.

I've been reading about his contract offer reportedly being withdrawn and is set to leave on a free. However I've also just been reading about clubs like Wolves, West Ham and Leeds etc looking to sign him, so the likelihood of us being able to tempt him here would appear to be VERY unlikely sadly. Because of his age Reading will be due a "small compensation fee" according to reports.

Another player I like that might be worth considering on loan if possible is the 19-year-old 6ft 1in striker Marcus Forss at Brentford. He scored 21 goals for the B team and won the B team's Player of the Year award for 17/18. A Finland U21 international, he has 9 goals from 16 appearances at various age levels. If Brentford were willing to loan out Forss again he would be an excellent option for us.

Another one at MK Dons that is highly-rated is Dylan Asonganyi. 17-year-old striker. I was surprised to see Dylan Asonganyi released by MK Dons as I was under the impression he was highly-rated during his time in the U18s. Thought they might have kept him on a bit longer. Still only 19.

Callum Camps had a decent season and looks to be out of contract at Rochdale as far as I can tell. Been released by Rochdale. I think they'll struggle next year without the likes of him, Henderson and Williams all gone. Camps would be a quality signing for anyone in L1, impressed me at their place this season, got their goal.

I expect Camps will have a fair few offers this summer and hopefully we are one of the clubs in for him. 8 goals and 8 assists this season. I said elsewhere I'd offer a deal to Henderson too. 16 goals this season, 21 goals last season and 20 goals the season before that. Still doing the business at this level and fit as a butcher's dog, even at his advanced years.

I don't care as long as we can get what the team needs, position and just someone who would take the opportunity to give 100% for the Club and us supporters....

Panutche Camara? Bit of an engine, ball playing midfielder for Crawley and at 23 lots of time to develop further, another one we could potentially replace Sercombe with. Few murmurs of interest from Plymouth, out of contract I believe but has been offered a new one by his current club. This lad, I've seen on a few occasions as I occasionally go watch Crawley when Rovers don't have a game on and he's got talent.
I've keeping track of English players abroad recently as a bit of a lockdown hobby and a guy who's caught my eye from the highlight reels is Gary Martin from Urvalsdeilid IBV. Don't normally suggest players playing abroad on here as I don't really know the standard in relation to league one, especially in a place like Iceland but this guy looks decent, scored 7 in his last 3 games and has over a goal to game ratio at his current club. Strange career path that's taken him from Hungary to Norway and York City, which is something I love.

Martin signed for National League North side Darlington on loan last January and failed to score a goal from 6 appearances. He'll be 30 during next season too, so I think the likelihood of him joining a club at this level now is very slim.

Yeah the Gary Martin suggestion was a bit out there and I only mentioned him because he had an interesting back story and was in some good form. Camara would make a good signing for us though, especially in a window where we may come to rely on free transfers, I think he'd be a shrewd signing for a team in L1.

Think we can and should be doing better than Camara in all honesty, especially if we want to kick on and improve next season. I'd have probably rather kept Sercombe if we were going down that route.

A few players released that would be worth considering for the development squad.
18-year-old Tyrhys Dolan the Preston U18 captain. 10 goals and 7 assists from midfield during 18/19 and impressed this season on loan at Clitheroe with 2 goals in 4 apps before the lockdown.
18-year-old Chanka Zimba released by Blackburn. 8 goals from 14 appearances in the U18 Premier League this season.
19-year-old Sion Spence from Cardiff City. He scored 11 goals in 15 appearances during 18/19 to help U18 side win the PDL2 South title for the first time. In 17/18, his first season as an U18 apprentice, he scored 21 times to win the Academy Player of the Year award. He made his debut for the club’s Under-23 team at the age of just 16.
The 16-year-old central midfielder Jamie Hanlon at Hayes & Yeading and 17-year-old left footed winger Jake Connelly at Clitheroe would also be ones to have a closer look at this summer. Hanlon has already made first team appearances and Connelly was a regular this season (and plays for England Colleges side).

Kieran Phillips another released by Everton. Has had a few injuries in the past, but on his day can be a clinical goalscorer. Joined the Huddersfield development side on a loan deal this season and if he hasn't agreed a permanent deal already with them, could be a good one for us.
