This lad has caught the eye recently 👀
Mondy Prunier, 23-year-old, 6ft 2in, Centre Forward, FC Versailles. A Haiti international with 5 goals in 7 appearances, he joined Versailles from fellow French club Rouen after previously scoring 97 goals in 87 games in the leagues of Haiti and Guadeloupe. After moving to French 4th tier National 2 - Grp. A club Rouen he impressed scoring 9 goals with 1 assist in 20 games and then signed for 3rd tier Championnat National club Versailles where he has impressed with 9 goals and 3 assists in 30 appearances. At the conclusion of the 22/23 season, he was awarded Versailles' Player of the Year award. A quick, strong and powerful player who has demonstrated an ability to finish well with either foot, he would be one to keep an eye on and scout if we're looking to expand our potential options.

A few more promising options abroad worth scouting and making enquiries about with a view to January or next summer 👀 Jordi Escobar, 21-year-old, 6ft 1in, Centre Forward, SD Logroñés. A product of the Barcelona and Valencia youth systems, he was highly-rated as a youngster appearing for Spain at U16, U17 and U18 level. Made a £2mil+ move to Almeria a few years ago, but is now playing his football at 3rd tier club Logroñés (average attendance 1,000).
Noah Botic, 21-year-old, 6ft, Centre Forward, Western United. He was joint-top scorer at the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship with five goals from five games, as Australia went out to Japan at the semi-final stage. He followed this up with four goals in four games at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil and also scored and assisted for Australia U17 in a 3-2 friendly defeat against England U17. Spent a couple of years at Hoffenheim following a trial at Manchester United before returning to Australia and joining A-League club Western United (average attendance 3,182) where he has scored a goal every 149 minutes with 6 goals in 10 starts (11 sub appearances) and was named the clubs Young Player of the Year.
Cho Young-Wook, 24-year-old, 5ft 11in Forward, Gimcheon Sangmu (loan from FC Seoul). With an impressive C.V. like his it might seem unrealistic, but seeing him on loan in the 2nd tier for K League 2 club Gimcheon Sangmu (average attendance 1,087) I thought he was worth a shout. Appeared for South Korea at full international level in the past (scoring 1 goal in 4 appearances) and previously scored 21 goals in 46 appearances at U20 international level and 10 goals in 26 appearances at U23 international level. The 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Top Scorer, the 2016 Korean Young Footballer of the Year and a 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup runner-up.
The versatile forward impressed on loan in K League 2 with 13 goals and 5 assists in 28 appearances.

I have been watching footage of the most recent CONCACAF U-20 Championship and a few gems stood out that might be of interest. Nathaniel James, 19-year-old, Attacking Midfielder/Winger, Club Sando. The Trinidad & Tobago Premier League Golden Boot winner with 15 goals in 19 games (and 7 assists) and impressed for Trinidad & Tobago in the CONCACAF U20 Championships with 4 goals in 4 games. Made 2 appearances in total for the full Trinidad & Tobago international side and scored the winning goal in a recent 1-0 CONCACAF Nations League win vs Curaçao. Stevenson Jeudy, 18-year-old, 6ft 1in, Centre Forward, FK Auda. Voted best young player and in the FCCCC Best XI at the 2022 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup after scoring 2 goals in 4 games for his then club side Violette AC and followed that up with 5 goals in 4 games for Haiti at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship. Made a transfer to Latvian side Auda in July 2023 and could be one to keep an eye on.
Kegan Caull, 19-year-old, 5ft 10in, Forward, Europa Point. A Saint Lucia international forward who can play wide or centrally, he is currently playing his club football at Gibraltan side Europa Point. Scored 5 goals in 4 games at the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. A bit raw, but worth watching further.

I have also been watching footage and looking at data from the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations and a few players have stood out that might be of interest. The obvious name to mention would be wonderkid Amara Diouf a 15-year-old attacking player who came through the famed Génération Foot academy and impressed for Senegal scoring 6 goals in 5 games at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations and this month sensationally made his full international debut, but I understand French Ligue 1 outfit and partner club Metz are interested so I'll obviously leave him out! Ibrahim Beji Muhammad, a 19-year-old Nigerian winger still playing his club football in Nigeria for Mavlon FC would be another stand out player, but will also be excluded as I understand he has a move to a Spanish 2nd tier club lined up.
A recent goal.com website article highlighted African players' salaries and mentions those "seeking better employment opportunities, because of the poor financial state of some of the African leagues" and went on to quote "In Ghana, footballers are said to earn $1,000 a month, while in Morocco players earn an average of $7,000 a month. In Tunisia, the players earn an average of $30,000, Angola $25,000, DR Congo $20,000, Sudan $15,000, Zambia $7,000, Ethiopia $7,000, Mozambique $5000, Tanzania $5000, Botswana $3,000, Gabon $2,000, Rwanda $1,500, and Zimbabwe $1,200 per month."
Fodé Doucouré, 22-year-old, Right or Left Back/Wing Back, Red Star FC. Usually a right back or wing back, he was named in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament for his performances for Mali which he mostly played as a left back/wing back. Previously at French club Stade Reims (where he made 10 appearances in Ligue 1), he currently plays his club football in the French 3rd tier Championnat National for Red Star (average attendance 2,417).
Mamadou Lamine Camara, 20-year-old, 6ft 4in, Defensive/Central Midfielder, RS Berkane. A commanding midfielder good at breaking up play and with a decent passing range. Currently playing his club football for Moroccan side RS Berkane, he has impressed for Senegal at U17, U20 and U23 level.
Onuche Ogbelu, 20-year-old, Defensive/Central Midfielder, Fosla Academy. Caught the eye for Nigeria at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations as his side won the Third Place Play-Off. Currently still playing his club football back in Nigeria.
Yacine Titraoui, 20-year-old, 5ft 11in, Centre Midfielder, Paradou AC. Impressed for Algeria at U20 level and helped them to the final of 2021 U20 Arab Cup where he was one of the key performers in the team. Playing his club football in Algeria for Paradou AC.
Ousmane Camara, 17-year-old, Winger, Rahimo. Impressed for Burkina Faso at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations as his side won the Third Place Play-Off. Still playing his club football in his homeland for Rahimo FC.
Zubairu Ibrahim, 19-year-old, Winger, Jedinstvo UB. Caught the eye for Ghana at U20 and U23 level, he is currently playing his club football for Serbian 2nd tier club Jedinstvo UB (average attendance 1,333).
Abass Samari Salifu, 19-year-old, Attacking Midfielder, Accra Lions FC. Currently still playing his club football in Ghana for Accra Lions, he caught the eye for Ghana at both U20 and U23 level.
Amidou Diop, 19-year-old, Right Back/Wing Back, SO Cholet. Another product of the famed Génération Foot academy in Senegal, he impressed for Senegal in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations starting every game to help them win the tournament. Currently playing his club football at French 3rd tier Championnat National club SO Cholet (average attendance 723).
Yann Ngatse, 20-year-old, 6ft, Centre Forward, Diables Noirs. Caught the eye for Congo in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with 2 goals in 3 games. Still playing his club football in the Congo Premier League and also currently competing for the club in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round.
Alagie Saine, 20-year-old, 6ft 1in, Centre Back, AC Horsens. Captained Gambia to a second place finish at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations and was named in the Team of the Tournament. Currently playing his club football for Danish 2nd tier club AC Horsens (average attendance 1,918).

Imagine if we could find the next Gift Orban just randomly like that Norwegian 2nd tier team did The lad Amara Diouf I mentioned is likely to develop longer term from a winger into a top striker, unfortunately he is moving to a higher level than us. Another Gift Orban-esque striker is Adama Bojang who has joined Stade Reims in France after impressing for Gambia in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Bojang looked an outstanding prospect and he's just recently made his debut for the Reims reserve side and scored 4 goals. Remember the name, I'm sure you'll be hearing more about him in the future. The players are out there to be found if you are willing to put in the hard yards. Orban was spotted by Stabæk's scouts during a showcase tournament. We are a bigger club than Stabæk and have bigger financial resources so there isn't any reason why we shouldn't be able to bring in someone like him if we manage to spot him early enough (which is key). There is an 18-year-old striker called Alie Conteh still playing in Africa for Sierra Leone club FC Kallon and the national team creating a little buzz and Norwegian club Molde possibly interested. The domestic league top scorer and the first-ever player to hit six goals in a single Sierra Leone league match.

To add to my previous posts, the African continent is a seemingly endless production line of top talent with potentially serious value to be found. Looking at some of the recent fees recieved by clubs over there and they are often nominal for what are incredibly talented individuals. The Gift Orban deal was mentioned before, but Mamadou Sané for example, an 18-year-old RB/RWB and now full Senegal international, was sold to Aris Limassol this summer from his Senegalese club Guédiawaye FC for a reported nominal fee of just €25k and he's a player described in some quarters as a "future world class right-back".
19-year-old Senegal youth international defender Mikayil Faye is another great example. In February 2023 he signed for the Croatian 2nd tier club NK Zagreb (average attendance 165) direct from Senegalese club Diambars for a nominal fee and 5 months later he is signing for Barcelona for a reported €5m fee plus add-ons.
Alagie Saine impressed with The Gambia U20 international side and joined Danish second tier club AC Horsens and is now worth probably 10 times as much or more. They previously signed James Gomez two years ago straight from The Gambia club Real de Banjul for a reported €40k and sold him this summer to Sparta Prague for a reported €1.1m. This summer another promising youngster from the excellent crop of Gambia youth internationals, Bakary Jawara, moved on loan to Slovakian 2nd tier club Pohronie (average attendance 400) with an option to make the deal permanent.
Elsewhere, the youth internationals Kwaku Karikari and Zubairu Ibrahim moved to Jedinstvo Ub (average attendance 1,200) in the Serbian 2nd tier straight from the Ghanaian league and are ripping it up. Ismael Diomande, Djibril Gueye, Ousmane Sow, Ousseynou Niang, Mohamet Corréa, Mouhamadou Diaw and Amadou N’Diaye and others all moved direct from Africa to clubs in Latvia and are impressing.
With a bit of innovative and creative thinking it could be a good market to source talent from and one we should look to familiarise ourselves with. Why shouldn't we be one of those clubs involved, especially now with the new transfer rule changes in effect? The African continent is packed with footballing talent waiting to be discovered...

The Asian continent has plenty of eligible talent with the recent Elite Significant Contribution (ESC) rule that are worth scouting too... Rei Hirakawa, 23-year-old, 5ft 9in, Attacking Midfielder, Roasso Kumamoto. Captain of his club side in the Japanese 2nd tier J League 2, he has represented Japan at youth international level. Looking at his data from 22/23 and he shows up well in most departments, with an excellent almost 80% dribble success rate against opposing CBs and providing 8 goals and 7 assists in 41 appearances for the season. I don't know what the situation is with this lad Sheri Artmeladze, but he is playing far below his natural level and worth scouting or even a trial. Scored a nice hat-trick on Wednesday evening against a young Wimbledon side in the London Senior Cup and has 13 goals in 13 games this season, after scoring 22 goals and getting 15 assists in 32 games last season and helping his side win promotion. I hesitate to say this, but when playing off the left he reminds me a little bit of his compatriot Kvaratskhelia in terms of style of play. Shermandin Artmeladze, 26-year-old, LW/RW/CAM/ST, Sporting Bengal United. A versatile, creative and attacking player clearly playing far below his natural level, the former Georgia youth international started playing in England for Wood Green Old Boys III in the Amateur Football Combination, then played for Barking and famous sunday league side Baiteze Squad, next featuring for Romford and now Sporting Bengal United (where he has 35 goals in 45 games). Previously represented Georgia at U17, U19 and U21 international level. A good player. http://instagram.com/p/CTdEVAcIkFw

Any other non-league players to keep an eye on Pirate? Not knocking your enthusiasm but I really can't see us dipping into the continental market anytime soon.
I think I've said before that I end up at a npn-league game most midweeks (usually step 3 or below) as am often on the road with work in random towns on my own and find it a nice way to distress at the end of a day. I would say the standard has improved massively in recent years, certainly no beer bellies kicking lumps out of eachother; but can't remember the last time I saw a real stand out player that I thought should be playing higher.
It might just be the small sample of games I'm going to or is it the case these Premier League B teams or whatever are just hoovering up these lads?

You need time for the players to develop and a pathway to the first team and I'm not sure we have that at the moment. You also have to move quickly because B team and U21 scouts are always looking for a gem and the bigger clubs have the finances to stack and rack the talent. Brighton recently signed Brody Peart from Basingstoke Town (who stood out like a sore thumb) from seven levels below the Prem and was mentioned on here months before his move. Josh Stokes was mentioned on here just after he made his debut for AFC Sudbury in non-league and I then told the Aldershot chief scout about him and now Stokes is one of the hottest prospects in non-league. Other non-league gems like Fin Stevens and Kwame Poku, now impressing in League One, were mentioned on this thread long before they got their football league moves, so it shows the talent is out there, but the key is early identification and a manager willing to shop in this market and the ability and patience to develop them. Wycombe have been decent recruiting from non-league in recent years and 16 of the 36 players involved in this season's Wycombe v Portsmouth game were signed from Steps 1-4 of the non-leagues. In other words, 45% of the matchday squads spent part of their career developing in non-league football. If you include loan spells, the number rises again.

Josh Stokes, 17-year-old attacking midfielder Watched a bit of Stokes in the AFC Sudbury U18s and impressed and now doing it at first team level. Well worth monitoring and a closer look. Delighted Josh Stokes is doing so well in the National League, it was obvious watching him at AFC Sudbury he could make the step up. Also, I hope we are monitoring Lorent Tolaj at Aldershot because he looks to have the makings of a good striker.

A couple of potential 💎💎 lower down the non-league pyramid worth scouting and monitoring 21-year-old former Leicester City and England youth winger Terrell Pennant, who is now at Coalville Town.
19-year-old left footed centre back Mark Chidi, a former West Brom youth now at Fisher FC.

Taelor 'non-league Rodri' O'Kane at Fylde would be one to keep an eye on too. Looks a very good prospect. Son of former Man Utd youth John O'Kane. http://instagram.com/p/Cw7gWsut3HD

Sheri Artmeladze worth a trial. 👀 Attachment Deleted

I'll ask about him in Georgia next week.
