Watching the Bath city highlights i thought Jordan Thomas might be worth keeping an eye on. Seemed the best player on the pitch and still a whippersnapper. I mentioned him earlier in the summer before he joined Bath as one to potentially trial. gaschat.co.uk/post/915116Jordan Thomas has looked very good at Bath this season. I'm hearing about football league interest in him now. www.instagram.com/reel/C0oULQ-tpOz/?hl=en

I can only assume this Bath City lad wears the number 15 for them, whoever that was against Yeovil was the only player on the entire pitch to show any quality whatsoever.

Matthew Horton a goalkeeper with Alvechurch U18s is impressing and attracted interest from higher levels. England Colleges GK last season. Still playing for Alvechurch, but probably not for much longer.

Wonder if we may look to sign Crewe defender Zac Williams in Jan. Been linked with a L1 past couple weeks, with Pompey being touted.

Now Barton has left it might be worth scouting 22-year-old former Northern Ireland U17, U19 and U21 attacking midfielder Chris Conn-Clarke at Altrincham.

Pirate/westfield etc. I love these posts about up & coming youngsters & non Lge players but none of them ever seem to appear on our radar. Why is this? In recent years there has been a lack of a scouting network to speak of and no development squad. Edit: I'd love us to get the development squad back with one or two scouts focused solely on the non-league scene and try and pick up a gem or two. It has served us well over the years and the gems are out there if you are prepared to finance it properly, search hard enough, have a pathway and give them a chance. The number of players that have stepped up recently are eye opening. You only have to look at someone like Anis Mehmeti who in the space of 3 years went from the 9th tier to Wycombe's development squad, into the first team, to then being sold on to our neighbours for a record fee for Wycombe. A lad I mentioned on here, Christie Ward, was eventually signed by Wycombe from a 9th tier club and recently made his Football League debut. Even EFL Championship Young Player of the Season Alex Scott started out as a 16-year-old in non-league before City snapped him up. In the last 10 seasons: 👉🏻Over 150 transfers direct to the Prem & Champ from non-league 👉🏻Over a million minutes have been played in the Prem & Champ by former Non-league players 👉🏻Over 1700 Prem & Champ goals by former Non-league players Look at the League One top scorer list below and number of former non-league players. That isn't including the 21/22 EFL League One Young Player of the Year, Paddy Lane, a now Northern Ireland international and just a few years ago was playing for Hyde United in Northern Premier League Premier Division (and highlighted on here gaschat.co.uk/post/635134 ). Jonathan Afolabi from Bohemians is who we want as our other striking option this season - expect a 90-100K offer would be enough. Now part of ROI Men's National First Team - reports that Lincoln are weighing up an offer in Jan. Would love us to go for him.

Owen Beck at Dundee, on loan from Liverpool, could be a decent option for LB. Getting good reviews up there and is pushing to get called into the full Welsh national team.

I can see the 16-year-old winger or striker Tyger Smalls stepping up soon. Scores plenty for the Histon U18s and has 4 goals already this season for the Haverhill Rovers first team. One we should definitely check out.

A few more non-league gems worth monitoring below National League Luther Williams, 19-year-old, 6ft 2in, Centre Back, Leatherhead. Signed for Chelsea at the age of 12 and was at Stamford Bridge until 16. On leaving Chelsea, he was immediately snapped up by Sheffield United, where he completed his scholarship and went on to sign a professional contact at Bramall Lane. Since joining Leatherhead he has made 8 appearances and helped side keep 7 clean sheets in that time. Harrison Day, 18-year-old, Forward, Concord Rangers. During the 22/23 season he scored 51 goals for the Concord Rangers U18 side to help them win a league and cup double and also gained valuable experience in mens football at Catholic United where he scored 13 goals and created 14 assists in 16 starts (15 sub apps). So far during the 23/24 season Day has 5 goals from 7 starts (6 sub apps) in all competitions at first team level for Concord Rangers. Seth Chambers, 19-year-old, Forward Needham Market. Prolific in the youth and development sides at Needham Market, he now has 70+ appearances at first-team level and this season has 12 goals in all competitions and 4 goals in 2 development squad games. Roco Rees, 22-year-old 6ft 2in Goalkeeper, Worthing. Started his career with Portsmouth, before spending 8 years on the books of Brighton between 2013-2021 and then spent 2 years as part of the Brentford B setup. Good agility and shot stopping ability, comfortable with ball at his feet with good distribution. Had a horrorshow performance against Dartford recently, but bounced back well with a clean sheet the next game and has kept 8 clean sheets in 18 games in the National League South. Nathan Kabeya, 18-year-old, 5ft 10in, Right Back/Wing Back, Lye Town. Has caught the eye helping Lye Town to the top of the Northern Premier League Div One Midlands, with 7 clean sheets in his 13 appearances and only 8 goals conceded. Previously on the books of Wolves and Lincoln, he was also involved with England at U15/U16 level.
Matt Feeney-Hill, 17-year-old, Midfielder, Sutton Common Rovers. After scoring 5 goals in 5 games in the Sutton Common Rovers U18s, Feeney-Hill duel-registered with Forest Row FC for first-team experience in the Southern Combination Football League where he went on to score 12 goals in 9 games and won back-to-back club Player of The Month awards for August and September. Returning to Sutton Common Rovers he has subsequently made 7 starts and 2 sub appearances scoring 1 goal. Harrison Mead, 17-year-old, Midfielder, Chalfont St Peter/Tring U18. A first team player at Chalfont St Peter and has also impressed captaining Tring U18s in the FA Youth Cup during 23/24 helping them to a historic second round tie at Leyton Orient, with the Jersey Evening Post reporting Mead was "imperious, marauding around Hemel’s pristine artificial surface as if it were his own" after a win vs Jersey Bulls in one of previous rounds. Mead has made first team appearances for Tring too, see this quote from the Tring official website: "at the age of 16 he is probably one of the youngest (if not the youngest) to have scored for the Tring First Team in the South Midlands Premier Division." Previously he was at Kings Langley U18s where he won the League and Cup double (and made Kings Langley senior team debut at 15-years-old). Finlay Dorrell, 17-year-old, Forward, Romford 1sts/Barking U18. Has impressed over the past year or so scoring 12 goals from 17 starts for Romford at first team level and 22 goals in 26 starts for Barking at youth team level, helping Barking amazingly reach the FA Youth Cup 3rd round for the first time in the club's history where they were unfortunately beaten by Millwall after extra time. Previously with Bowers & Pitsea youth setup where he scored 36 goals in 37 games. Henry Hart, 17-year-old, Right Back/Wing Back, Romford 1sts/Barking U18. Has impressed over the past year or so representing Romford as a regular at first team level, Essex U18 at County level and for Barking at youth level who he impressed whilst helping them to an historic 3rd round FA Youth Cup tie against Millwall in which they unfortunately lost in extra time. Selected for the last trial of the England schoolboys U18’s representing the South of England against the North in the final elimination match before the Centenary Shield squad is announced.
Khemani Aiyanyo, 17-year-old, Forward, Erith & Belvedere. Scored 15 goals in 17 starts for Erith Town U23s and made an appearance on the 21st September 2022 aged 16-year-old for Erith Town becoming their youngest ever first-team player. Previously scored 17 goals in 16 games for Erith Town U16 and 29 goals in 19 games for Erith Town U18 sides. Impressed with Erith & Belvedere U18s during 23/24 with 13 goals in 7 games, including goals to propel the club into the 2nd round of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in the club's history. Made 4 sub appearances for Erith & Belvedere first team scoring 1 goal.
I would add 19-year-old forward Oscar Massey at Falmouth Town in the South West Peninsula League as one to scout and keep an eye on. Massey was prolific coming through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle (u18 debut at 13), receiving a call-up to England U15s during his time there and top scoring in the prestigious SuperCupNI tournament one year and was maybe unlucky not to get a pro deal, but upon his release he was immediately snapped up by Swindon Town. Following his release from Swindon he dropped into non-league with Penzance (6 goals in 9 apps), Barnstaple Town (7 goals in 8 apps) and now Falmouth Town where he scored on his debut what the Falmouth manager calls "one of the best strikes I’ve seen at Bickland Park." 18-year-old left sided player Freddie Buers has been impressing at Kings Langley in the Southern League and also worth scouting. 17-year-old forward Alfie Steward has been prolific in the youths at Stourbridge where he was named their 22/23 Stourbridge U21 player of the year and during 23/24 where he helped the u18s into the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup. Made 3 first team starts and scored 3 goals. Another worth scouting.
