I like CH speaks well and although I haven’t the knowledge you lot have he must have a very good knowledge of players who should be our natural source for signing eg. players on their way up. He always speaks sensibly after the development results and seems very aware that his job is to produce first team players and that’s what he’s trying to do. Thanks for the information about the players you mention pirate, like you it would be good to see DC take a punt on one or two or perhaps he thinks the development squad will produce a few gems in the year to come. Were the development squad not full perhaps he would have signed a few youngsters that you mention were they the right age for that squad. On this one I’m afraid it will take time for them to come through and after only half a season we are behind others aren’t we? I only hope that we’re still in League 1 when a few start to filter through. UTG!

This lad has been impressing at Dulwich Hamlet this season scoring 9 goals in 9 games, including a hat-trick at the weekend. With his ability It surely wont be long before he gets an opportunity at a league club. Signed a contract now. Was available on a free. “We’ve had about seven or eight Championship clubs, one Premier League club show interest and a League Two club ,” said Rose. “He has scored so many goals in a short period of time. He has got a good CV and so it is not rocket science that people are going to be interested in him. “With what Reise has done in a short period of time, I don’t see him going on trial. He is due to sign a contract in the next day or two. He has played at that level already and proven himself – what he is doing now is showing everyone he is back fit. “We’d expect him to go, of course, but we want to keep him as long as we possibly can. He has agreed to sign a contract with us. The battle is to try and keep him beyond January. If he carries on the way he is then being realistic it will be difficult to do so. “Whatever happens will happen – whether that is January or the end of the season. I’m pretty sure he’ll be going on to a higher level of football.”

The Shamrock Rovers 22-year-old midfielder Brandon Miele is worth a closer look. The Ireland U19/U21 cap has impressed in the League of Ireland scoring 25 goals in 79 appearances and was named the 2015 PFAI Young Player of the Year. The former Newcastle United youth can play on the left, right or through the centre. Contract ends on 31.12.2017. Other League of Ireland players worth considering are 21-year-old Jamie McGrath and 25-year-old Patrick McEleney, former youth internationals. Both players contracts also expire on 31.12.2017. A couple of other lads over there I'd be scouting are 18-year-old Waterford Utd central midfielder John Martin and 17-year-old Cobh Ramblers striker Beineon O'Brien Whitmarsh. Both are currently playing in the second tier. Whitmarsh O’Brien is a former Cork Schoolboys League U15 Player of the Year and has 1 goal in 3 sub appearances (51 mins of football) and Martin is an Ireland U19 international who has scored 4 goals in 15 appearances. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1614253435466211&id=1597089393849282

Aaron Norris will be a player worth keeping an eye on. The 19-year-old former highly-rated Scotland U16 (2 caps) and Scotland U17 (7 caps) winger was released by Aberdeen in the summer and was set to join Scottish Prem side Ross County before an injury and change of manager scuppered the move. He was then offered a 1-year development deal with Scottish Prem side Dundee but decided to sign for Scottish League Two side Peterhead to continue his football education and further his career. www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/sport/football/scottish-football/norris-out-to-make-mark-for-blue-toon-after-injury-woe/I was also surprised to see, according to transfermarkt, that 18-year-old former Scotland youth captain Jack Adamson is still without a club after being released by Rangers in the summer. They signed him from Hibs ahead of Celtic back in 2015. The left winger is a former Scotland U15 (1 cap), U16 (5 caps, 2 goals) and U17 (4 caps) international. Well worth a trial or short term deal if possible to have a closer look.

So obviously has some calibre - being once at Man U - has he sorted his head out ?? I don't know, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance. He previously had this to say: "As a youngster I made a lot of bad decisions and maybe I could have been playing at a higher level. That was probably the only reason I left Manchester United because I did stuff off the pitch that I shouldn’t have been doing. Being young and at one of the best teams in the country, it all got to my head a bit really."

I reckon the Grantham striker Lee Shaw would be worth looking at in training or a development squad game. The 22-year-old got 28 goals last season and currently has 11 goals in 15 games in the Northern League Premier Division. Last season he won all three Grantham Player of the Season awards, the Supporters' award for the second consecutive season. Previously scored 54 goals in 109 starts in the United Counties League for Harrowby United. We trialled a 23-year-old from the Combined Counties League last season. I see the lad Shaw got a hat-trick today to take his tally to 21 goals in 26 games in all comps. He looks a good finisher with a decent all round game. As I said before, hes well worth looking at in training or a development squad game - he might be good enough or he might be out of his depth with our players, but It surely can't hurt to trial the lad to see what he can do at close quarters. "Posh are aware of the form and ability of Grantham striker Lee Shaw." www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/posh/latest-news-peterborough-united-could-be-busy-in-january-transfer-window-according-to-chairman-plus-interest-in-maddison-1-8275638

A quote from a week ago from DC regarding his plans for the transfer window:
"Me personally, I think we need to go down the proven route, we need to get more established players into the football club to help this group of players.
"But we want players here for the right reason, it's not about spending loads of money, they've got to want to come for the right reason as well."
To me this suggests we might be looking at this level and possibly above, who have perhaps fallen out of favour and would want to come and get regular game time. That's not to rule out some non league gems but I reckon DC will prioritise experience and look to replace Mansell, Easter ect.

I agree with DC about the need to target proven/experience in January, but that usually costs a few bob, so hopefully he will be backed by the BoD. A few experienced players I've noticed not getting much playing time are Dorian Dervite, Matthew Connolly, Sam Hutchinson, Ben Pringle and Anthony Pilkington. Whether they are available and would be interested is another matter. Pilkington in particular would be very ambitious and probably a bit optimistic as I'm sure a player of his quality would have options elsewhere. I'm looking forward to seeing who we target now.
