Didn't the chairman say we turnt down an offer for Bodin in the summer, can't recall a figure but i'm sure it was more than 200k. Would rather keep him and let him go in the summer for nowt if that's all we're offered. Would agree with you - but DC would have to have a guarantee from BB that he's going to be 100% committed till end of season ( help us steer away from the trap door) otherwise best cash in now (whatever the money - it might be enough to get a couple of decent players at L1 level.

That is an interesting point, which i never really considered. If Bodin asks for a transfer and we say no, then that scenario could ensue, but if we tell him now, unless we get a certain level bid for him we will not consider it. If he did down tools then it wouldn't show him in a good light, and may reduce interest in him in the summer. I think Bodin would be ok with that and continue to try to show what he can do.

This is probably an unrealistic suggestion, but I'd love to see Crewe left winger George Cooper sign. He's got 14 assists so far this season and is a class act. Sadly I expect he is destined for bigger and better things. Cheers for that Wes. Geogre Cooper?

The contracts of former England U21 international's Ryan Taylor and Tom Thorpe expire in the Indian Super League on 31.12.2017. Taylor did ok in League One during his spell in the second half of last season at a struggling Port Vale side, scoring 5 goals and creating 5 assists. Can play right back or left back, or even as a defensive midfielder if needed.
Another player in the ISL who's contract expires on 31.12.2017 is 29-year-old former Netherlands U17/U18/U19 international winger Gregory Nelson. He might be worth a closer look to see if he is worth a deal.

If other League One clubs are signing players from the Swedish top flight, then I wouldn't mind us making an enquiry/monitoring the 23-year-old left winger Kevin Kabran. Don't know if he would be interested in a move to League One, but he looks a good player. 13 goals and 5 assists from 35 games in the 2017 season.

At the moment I don’t think we will sell BB. Within 6 months of his being available on a free we wouldn’t get anything above £100k. And that wouldn’t cover what we would lose if we were relegated. Sad to say but I think we keep him and make sure we stay up and then let him go for free if he gets a better offer in the summer. Sad but it’s always been that way at Rovers. Then in the summer we build again. And if Shrewsbury can build on a shoestring so can we. Blimey, if pirate and others can search out good young talent on here surely BRFC can. If they can’t we are in trouble. Have to be optimistic!! UTG!

Jorge Grant has been in ridiculously good form over the last couple of seasons for Notts County on loan from Nottingham Forest. The 21-year-old has 21 goals and 10 assists from 47 appearances, including a goal and assist against us. He's been playing mainly from a wide left position this season, although he can play anywhere in midfield. If Forest want him to get experience in League One then I'd hope we're interested.

We might be able to get Sean Raggett in January as Norwich are reported to want him to get experience at a higher level. Toumani Diagouraga has still not signed Plymouth’s offer of an 18 month contract so it looks like he might be on the move in January. He would be a useful addition in the midfield.

Raggett would be a good addition. I was checking through my emails earlier and I noticed that I tipped off the club about him when he was playing first team football as a 16-year-old on loan at Sittingbourne. He marked Andre Gray out of the game last season in the FA Cup and has impressed again this season, scoring 3 goals and helping Lincoln keep 9 clean sheets. Edit: Bradford are interested in taking Raggett on loan for the remainder of the season according to Press Association Football writer Nick Mashiter.

Kean Bryan's loan from Man City to Oldham expires on the 1st January. He can play as a centre back or a defensive midfielder and would be a good addition IMHO, whether on loan or a permanent move. Other loanee's in League One that might be worth enquiring about permanent deals are Jordan Houghton, Stuart O'Keefe, Matty Kennedy, Rohan Ince and Alex Mowatt. Edit: Sounds like Oldham want to extend Bryan's loan though. "Kean Bryan is the one I want to keep. He's an outstanding footballer who does everything I want him to do. He's the main one I want," Wellens told MEN Sport. "Kean obviously won't get back in at Man City so he should stay here for the rest of the season. He can play at any club in the Championship next season, I'm that convinced."

Seems to me you know more than our own scouts sometimes. Do the club ever get back to you from the emails you send them ?

If you got paid a grand for any tips that lead to recruitment of any new players, it would still save the club thousands, we are being short sighted if they cannot see it.

We’ve made a lot of changes behind the scenes since Wael took over but I’ve got no idea who our chief scout or other scouts are or whether they’ve got the kind of knowledge we need to succeed in bringing in the right players for the right price. Mayenese and Broadbent seem to be two decent signings in the cheap but there’s obviously many more out there. We won promotion to the championship in the 90s without spending big and burton and Rotherham have done it in recent seasons and Shrewsbury look like they might well do it this season. Mind if I ask have we ever signed a player that you’ve recommended to the club ? I can appreciate you probably wouldn’t want to name names just a yes or no would do.

Apart from Will Dubey, I'm not sure who our scouts are either or whether we have a chief scout. Brian Dutton was meant to be identifying players abroad for us according to the Bristol Post. As far as players I've recommended, the answer is no.

A couple of loan players I wouldn't mind seeing arrive are the Southampton duo of Alfie Jones and Tyreke Johnson. Both players could be good options in the second half of the season if we are going down the loan route and Southampton were willing to let them out.
Jones is a Bristolian, came through the Southampton Bath Academy, can play as a centre back or as a defensive midfielder, was named their 15/16 Young Player of the Year and is currently captain of their U21/U23 side. He's made 14 appearances (7 as a defensive midfielder, 6 as a centre back) for their U23's this season, including 3 times (in midfield) in the EFL Trophy and scored the winning goal against Cambridge.
Johnson, signed from the Swindon youth team, is a left winger and has made 10 appearances in the U23 Prem League, scoring 3 goals and creating 2 assists. He has also made 3 appearances in the EFL Trophy, scoring once against Northampton.

I would love all three, but Payne cost Huddersfield about £600k, signed a 3 year contract and is still highly-rated there apparently. Caulker is rumored to be in talks/agreed a deal with Celtic. Forrester is the most realistic one of the three, although he signed a season long loan deal at Wimbledon and I'm not sure whether that can be broken or not. He would be a good signing though and I wanted him here in the summer. Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock is another I'd like to see join the club. Still only 23 and recently made his debut for the Northern Irish national team. Hull, Burnley, Rangers and Norwich linked with Jones. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5215897/Hull-City-join-chase-Kilmarnock-winger-Jordan-Jones.html
