Agree - and it poses the real dilemma of what we would do if Rovers made it to the EFL Trophy final. To be consistent, I'd have to say I'd boycott, but that is a very hard decision to make. A compromise would be to go, but organise some very visible means of protest. And you know deep down you would be like all the others on here if rovers get to the final you will be in the queue for tickets and a protest would be the furthest thing from your mind. If you want to protest why not stand outside of the club shop trying to deter others from buying a ticket for the next game in this cup. Not only you but all the others who are against it to show the strength of your convictions I wouldn't go to a final in this format My conscience would be clear if we have to play city u23s in a league fixture in future.

Agree with that, but doesnt mean anyone has to watch it though. True but I def cannot ignore it like I did last season. I was actually looking forward to the highlights! Still will not attend like I don't reserve games but I think it might be growing on me subconsciously. I don't really care what they do with that competition as long as it doesn't creep into the league

The folk that are attend are scabs, the fact they are rustled by being called scabs is fantastic, they should feel nothing but shame and I'm still here fronting up, no running away. Why do you feel justified in taking pleasure from people getting upset by you calling them a scab? You are a pathetic individual in the Blackthorn, at away games with your constant moaning, and on here. When I have seen you at games, you don't appear to be stupid but you do seem very immature for a person of your age. I am sure that you can make your point on this forum, as others have, without resorting to such name calling. The mods say attack the post not the poster but it is quite difficult to exercise restraint where you are concerned. Not all of the 66 that went to yesterday's game will be posters on here but haven't you directly, or indirectly, attacked those that do post by calling them scabs.
As for fronting up and not running away, you are behind a keyboard for f**k's sake. How about you invite them into the left side of the Blackthorn and call them scabs to their face.
I don't agree with the format, and I didn't go last night, but I also don't see the point of calling someone a scab. The arguments against attending are valid and have merit. It's being called a scab that gets people's back up and you set the tone with the first post.
Great post, summed it up, well done. I don't know him but you obviously do! UTG!

I don't really care what they do with that competition as long as it doesn't creep into the league But that was the point. The inclusion of B teams in the EFL trophy was a transitional compromise between the FA and EFL on the way to their proposals to introduce B teams to the Football League. All dreamed up by the imbecilic Greg Dyke and his "expert(!)" commission. Protesting by boycott now at least gives us a chance that the EFL will scrap the ideas of B team inclusion in the league for ever. Problem is that Shaun Harvey is so stubborn, he refuses to accept the fans verdict.

66 scabs will never die 66 scabs our battle cry I've been humming that all day, and now realise why. Blimey, Colston Hall c.1984. Those were the days.* *Although to be fair, they probably weren't.

I was massively against this competition and still am not a fan but must admit I am getting used to it! Now we have a development squad it's actually quite handy! Except we'll be fined if we play our development squad, but West Ham won't. The cup should be a competition for all teams to give their youth players a chance, not just the big boys.

Great post, summed it up, well done. I don't know him but you obviously do! UTG! Anyone who recognises how unique and special our football league structure is and has a genuine passion for lower league football wins my respect and Chewbacca ticks those boxes. Proper Gashead. I commend him for standing up to the changes and actually having the conviction to follow his beliefs, not attend and campaign against B/U23 teams. As true football supporters, the easy thing to do would be to brush our unease at the changes under the carpet and forget about the longer term repercussions to have a night out at a game, which we all love doing. By taking a stand, he's playing his part to protect lower league football as we know it for future generations of Gasheads to enjoy. We all remember the first time we walked onto a busy terrace, glazed at the pitch and soaked up the unique atmosphere that only lower league football can offer. I somehow don't think that feeling would be the same for the next generation if we have to face the likes of Swansea and Bournemouth U23.

I don't actually think that many people disagree with Chewbacca's sentiments regarding the U23 teams, the risk to the future of the lower leagues, etc. I agree with them myself. It's the way he has gone about it with the name calling, the childish retorts, and the obvious pleasure he has taken from stirring up trouble. If he had merely started a thread politely (but still forcibly if required) expressing his view, and declaring that he hoped that nobody would attend, then we wouldn't have 14 pages of this. I don't think anybody went to Wycombe thinking "I must attend cos I want my club and the rest of the lower league clubs to crumble and fold". Only 66 people went so the protest has been made.

Simple Question to my fellow gashead supporters.
I fully Understand your concerns about the possible inclusion of U23 teams into the football league structure and i do agree with your thoughts on this subject BUT :-
How would they phase it in, would the league clubs agree to say the bottom 10 teams in LGL 2 be booted out to be replaced by U23 teams... don't think that would happen so how
At what level do you think they could be integrated into the league ?
1 per season , 2 per season, 5 per season ?
What ever level they try it will take many years to achieve their desired result.
when you boycott the current format do you seek to support the match in different ways ie listen on the Radio or Maybe watch a Televised game ?
Is that not the same as supporting the competition by increasing the listening/viewing figures ?

One idea mooted was to cut down leagues to twenty teams and introduce a League 3, which would bring room for an extra 8 teams to join at the fifth tier.

That is an interesting point, If you have SKY and watch Prem football are you already supporting this cup change with your money ?

If he'd said what you've just said, no problem. But he didn't. UTG!
