Slocombe 5 not very keen on crosses, had to go once the ref gave a foul Paddington 7 played well but exposed at times with no one to help him,he can cross a ball though Lockyer 8.5 defended very well Sweeney 6 bit jittery at times Brown 7 same problem as Parts but did a good job Lines 6 started really well but seemed to get very pedestrian at times Sercombe 7.5 battled away especially when down to ten O. Clarke 7.5 different player when we were down to ten, hopefully give him his confidence back Bodin 6.5 a couple of good shots but not a lot came off for him today Nichols 5.5 not sure he's suited to 4 3 3 Gaffney 7 good goal and worked hard Subs: Harrison 7 put himself about well after the sending off Leadbitter 6 Andre 7 was very worried when he went in goal but did well for a young kid under pressure. Crowd 8 like the team better when we were down to ten men Ref 4 Walsall 6 must be kicking themselves they didn't get anything, can't help feeling if we had eleven men they would have.

Slocombe 6.5 Decent up to the sending off
Partington 8.5 MOM now we are seeing some player Lockyer 7.5 Commanding should have scored Sweeney 7.5 looked a bit tired but was solid Brown 6.5 Looked a bit off the pace, always had two to mark Bodin 7 Always looks capable of doing something Lines 7 First 15 minutes ran the game, slowed up Sercombe 7 Consistent Nichols 6.5 looked decent unlucky to be subbed in the circumstances Gaffney 7 Good goal good performance O Clarke 7.5 Quiet first half but stepped up second half
Andre 6.5 great effort but scared to come off his line, understandably Harrison 7 where has the crap Ellis gone ? Leadbitter 6 looks off the pace to me
Ref 4 Too many yellows will have to see the replay to see if the sending off was correct Walsall 6 Comfortable on the ball but tried to cheat D.C. 7 Crowd 10 great effort today
Result was ground out! Not pretty but think we will see a few changes Tuesday

Crowd 8 Ref 5 Linesman by the west enclosure. 1 For managing to dress himself. Walsall 7 Very impressed with no 10.
We dug deep today for a win we barely deserved. We looked lethargic and disjointed at times, until we went down to ten men then we battled like our lives depended on it.The one thing that sticks out for me is our lack of pace. I am not sure whether we were that bad or Walsall were that good? I suppose you have to give credit to Walsall for doing their homework on us. They closed down our play and made us look second best especially in midfield. Not a fan of 4 3 3 it needs to change now for Oldham.

Slocombe 6 Did ok but dropped in it by Leads awful backpass Paddington 7 a quality display and showed he's versatile after Lines went off Lockyer 7.5 m.o.m back to his best Sweeney 6.5 a few wobbly moments but battled hard Brown 6.5 usual Browner display Lines 6.5 was doing ok until his injury Sercombe 7 usual high energy game O. Clarke 7 improved massively after we went down to ten men Bodin 6.5 ok game, Walsall did a good job on him Nichols 6.5 looked lively until sacrificed to bring keeper on Gaffney 7 led the line well ,well taken goal Subs: Harrison 7 battled well, won some good defensive work late on Leadbitter 5 looks really out of sorts Andre 6 one way or another he kept the ball out. Crowd 9 really got behind the team Ref 5 fussy and card happy but I think he got the red card right Walsall 7 decent but lacked a cutting edge, will feel they should have got something out of the game.

Slocombe 6 Partington 7(was my MOM UNTIL ANDRE CAME ON) Lockyer 7 Sweeney 6 Brown 6 Lines 6 Sercombe 6 O. Clarke 7 Bodin 6 Nichols 6.5 Gaffney 7 Subs: Harrison 7 Leadbitter 3 (still think he's carrying an Injury hence his poor performances) Andre 8 MOM chucked in at the deep end did well considering the circumstances Crowd 5 before sending off 10 after got behind the team Ref 2 awful think the player made more of meal of it than it deserved which influenced the ref 10/10 for the acting Walsall 7 were unlucky thought they controlled the game better BTW Kodos Knew we had the Beard !! But didn't know we had a Bear aswell, when did we sign Paddington ?

Slocombe 7 Partington 8 Lockyer 7.5 Sweeney 7 Brown 7 Lines 7.5 Clarke 6.5 Sercombe 6.5 Bodin 6.5 Gaffney 7 Nichols 5.5
Harrison 7.5 Leadbitter 5.5 Andre 7.5
Crowd 8 Officials 3 (1 each) Walsall 7
As others have said, several players, and the crowd too, were heading for below average performances until the red card galvanised them. Partington and Leadbitter showed today why they have switched places in the right back pecking order- one calm and comfortable on the ball, linking up well with his teammates, the other jittery and frenetic and inconsistent. There is no denying Leads speed, desire to do well for the team and commitment to the cause, let's not forget he was an integral part in our winner as well as the sending off incident; but Parts is the more reliable option in the right back berth at the moment. Locks and Sweeney restored some sanity to our defence although another woeful lapse at set piece defending reared its head once more. Lines was the only midfielder on his game prior to being crocked, for which his assailant was rightfully booked...interestingly because he initially tried to run it off before the first stoppage for the physio, he was made to leave the field which he would not have had to do if he had not delayed it - a lesson we should've learned after their #7 remained on the pitch after the treatment he received following the incident that saw OC awarded a yellow. AA jr will be buzzing after his half hour debut in EFL action at the Mem, and rightly so, hope he uses it as a spur to transitioning from development to first team squad in the long run....at least we are seeing the benefits of having paid attention to beefing up that department of the set up. A good day to be a Gashead.

Slocombe 5 Really did not have much to do, if he caught their player ref was right to give red card, but I am not so sure there was any contact
Partington 8 MoM, he had an excellent game in all positions he was asked to play in Lockyer 6 Good game, however distribution let him down a few times Sweeney 5.5 Reasonable game although looked a bit shaky at times Brown 7 Usual steady game
Lines 6 Played well enough without offering much after 20 minutes Sercombe 7 Energetic and played well O. Clarke 6 Quite game but done very well after the red card Bodin 5 Can do much better without overdoing it and losing the ball
Nichols 6 Works very hard Gaffney 7 Led the line and took his goal well might have had another one
Subs: Harrison 6.5 Beginning to get some consistency to his game, also defended well Leadbitter 5 Poor error for the red card, but was involved in the winner, Andre 7 He won't forget this day, done quite well considering the pressure he must have been under
Crowd 4 Very quite before the red card 9 afterwords Ref 6 Gave out a lot of cards to easily, never a dirty game, probably right with red card? Walsall 7 Played quite well and must be kicking theirselves they got nothing from the game, their 10 was good

Slocombe 5 looked shaky Partington 8 class act Lockyer 7.5 reliable Sweeney 6.5 still not back to last season's form Browe 6.5.had 2 cope with 2 attackers with no help Bodin 5 too many tricks with little impacto Lines 7 quality ball for goal Sercombe 5 a poor imitation of the bearday Clarke 7 worked hard scored important goal. Nicholls 5.5 little ompacto Gaffney 6.5 took his goal well goes nth look fit
Leadbiter 4 out of sorts Harrison 7 some good touches in attack and 2 important defensive headded clearances Andre 7.5 looked athletic and assured could be 1 for the future
Reference 5 seemed to lose the plot Walls all 8 good footballing side must wonder how they lost

Slocombe - 6 steady performance pre sending off
Paddington 7.5 Good display but gave wide men a bit too much space Lockyer 7.5 Good display but distribution still a weakness. Missed a great chance Sweeney 7 a little uncertain at times but overall a steady performance Brown 6 - average display from Browner
Lines 6 - not up to his best Sercombe 6.5 battled hard but can do a lot better O. Clarke 6.5 poor first half but very good last 30 minutes Bodin 6.5 not a lot came off but always looked likely to create a piece of magic which kept the Walsall defence on their toes
Nichols 6 - ok display but nothing special Gaffney 7 - worked hard and scored a good goal
Subs: Harrison 7 - rapidly becoming consistent and hard working Leadbitter 5 terrible back pass pre sending off. Can play a lot better Andre 7 Lad did all that was asked of him but Walsall should have tested him a lot more
Crowd 8 Very quiet until sending off then dynamite. No doubt that the Blackthorn End gave Andre a big confidence boost with their support. Ref 6 Not as bad as others suggest. 1 red and 9 yellows in a game with only 16 fouls but I think that he got more of them right than wrong. My first reaction was a definite red for Slocombe Walsall 7 Looked a better side than us but lacked the cutting edge.

Slocombe 6 - red not his fault is was leads Parts - 8 - MOM very assured, good crosses Brown 7.2 - some good crosses but some poor defending at times Sweeney 6.8 - not as good as last season yet Lockyer - 7.5 - good solid against a decent side
Clarke - 8- seven for first half nine for secind half and goal. Lines- 6 - set up goal but didn't do much else Sercombe 6.6 - battled but not much came off for him
Gafney 8- took goal well and linked up play well too, I'd start with him over Ellis . Nichols -5.5 -doesn't get involved enough maybe not his position. Bodin -6.3- not much happened for him really but kept trying.
Ellis - 6 Leads -4 Andre -7.5
Walsall 7 Ref - sh**e Crowd 6 first half 10 second half so 8
