Signings over and above the money we received for players sold maybe? Signings that were clearly big league 1 signings perhaps? Brett pitman has not played as low as league 1 for a very long time and has always scored goals, thats a top signing on paper but his salary must be high. I like sercombe, menayese, broadbent and havnt given up on the others at all but our transfer business didnt have promotion push stamped on it at all. Yeah it felt as if we had missed out on a number of key targets which is understandabley frustrating. I can see DC being a busy man in January, trying to strengthen in areas we have been lacking. We have the beginnings of a good side but it could take a couple of seasons of building before we can mount a sustained assault on the upper echelons of this league, which may not be a bad thing as we wait for the various projects off the field to (hopefully) move forward. status 1 = the owner will deliver all goals in the long term so keep calm and trust. status 2 = im not sure about our owner,i will believe when i see things happening in a big way. status 3 = its never going to fu****g happen so were fu*** January? im not optimistic. Maybe players like broadbent, meyanse, luke russe and other unknown players will cheer us up and establish themselves in the team.

I'm Status 2, I'm not going to write off the new owners just yet but I will believe it when I see it in terms of progress off the field, I suspect most gasheads feel the same way but obviously there will always be some who predict bad times ahead. As for January, I have good feeling, DC is not a man who likes to stand still and from his recent interviews it's obvious he knows the areas we need to improve. Might just be misplaced optimism on my part though. We've trusted in youth in the past so expect to see that happen again this year. Our U23 squad is probably the best thing happening to our club at the moment.

I spoke to dc at each match and he talked about the young players and told me their names,he also said many of them were on £150 per week. Im a bit fed up that we havnt got on with the training ground after the UWE collapse. Dc told me we are a long way behind most clubs in terms of infrastructure, especially training facilities.

You don't need DC telling you to know that we are far behind other clubs infrastructure! I was surprised to hear of the delay of the colony too, I'm glad it wasn't scrapped but something doesn't seem right as it seems to have been pushed back and back. Lack of funding perhaps? I hope something similar doesn't happen with the mem but it's highly likely. £150 per week doesn't seem a lot, I take it they are here to try and push on with their careers rather than for the financial benefits that a professional contract can bring, which is probably a good thing.

I think they get around the minimum wage by saying they are part time, the club sorts out cheap digs for the players. It does feel like lack of funding on all fronts?

Wonder if we would have sold as many STs had we known about the UWE falling through, the Colony stalling and the lack of signings? Lack of signings? We are at least 2 players short. A defensive midfielder and a winger.

Dc told me we are a long way behind most clubs in terms of infrastructure, especially training facilities. But MS suggested at the SC AGM the training facilities are OK, you'd have thought the manager and his assistant would sing from the same hymn sheet! As far as the players I guess you have to ask where Wael/DC saw us finishing this season, were they content with a top 10/possible play off finish, if so, then with a fit BB we'd probably still be on target for that. Most of us fell for the "top 6 budget" nonsense from SH and assumed we'd be pushing for promotion when really we probably all now know that's not going to happen until some development work takes place at the Mem.

Just hope we don't get a HMRC investigation for paying below minimum wage as I've said before £150 per week is a disgrace if true.

Hardly a disgrace is it. I was on the YTS at that age. £35 a week for 37 hours work - 95p/hour. Even after allowing for inflation the development lads are on a lot more than that and I would imagine the club subsidise them in other ways like providing meals and cheap accommodation. Also the first teamers probably top them up if they run little errands, I'm pretty sure that's the way it works.

My lad has an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and is paid a paltry £140 a week. That's minimum wage for an apprentice working 40hrs a week.
