Just hope we don't get a HMRC investigation for paying below minimum wage as I've said before £150 per week is a disgrace if true. The club also pay their board and lodgings
If true then the young 'uns probably have more disposable income a week than most of us. I'm sure it won't stop some insisting it is disgraceful how little they get paid though.

No different to having to ‘pay’ a couple of grands tuition fees each year to try and get a degree to improve your earnings potential, or study the thing you love (read: getting mashed 5 nights out 7)
For the lucky ones they’ll get a fabulous job to reward their hard graft, for the rest they’ll be working in Sainsbury’s telling stories of yonder year.

So in summary they get free board/lodgings + £150/week in exchange for kicking a ball about for as many as 10 whole hours and getting an education.
What will people moan about next?

status 1 = the owner will deliver all goals in the long term so keep calm and trust. status 2 = im not sure about our owner,i will believe when i see things happening in a big way. status 3 = its never going to fu****g happen so were fu*** January? im not optimistic. Maybe players like broadbent, meyanse, luke russe and other unknown players will cheer us up and establish themselves in the team. I'm Status 2, I'm not going to write off the new owners just yet but I will believe it when I see it in terms of progress off the field, I suspect most gasheads feel the same way but obviously there will always be some who predict bad times ahead. As for January, I have good feeling, DC is not a man who likes to stand still and from his recent interviews it's obvious he knows the areas we need to improve. Might just be misplaced optimism on my part though. We've trusted in youth in the past so expect to see that happen again this year. Our U23 squad is probably the best thing happening to our club at the moment. Between 2 and 3. Thing is, City are spending money now. As soon as their Long Ashton plans fell through, Lansdowne decided to revamp what was already a pretty decent stadium. They are on a good run at the moment and have now drawn Man Utd at home, which will be a sell out and they will get lots of youngsters in who may go on to be regulars. Signing Sercombe and Nicholls, is all very well if you want to stay in League 1, but we need to catch up fast! It's going to mean being bolder and more ambitious than we are at the moment. Can we be another Yeovil or Burton, maybe....but probably not.

Our U23 squad is probably the best thing happening to our club at the moment. I'd consider myself at that status. I got completely wrapped up throughout the takeover and bought in to everything with the owners and chairman being very vocal and pleasant to listen to. Since the UWE debacle and the fact there was obviously no plan.B and the board going back on 'staying at the mem is not an option' it has pushed me in to status 2, on the verge of status 3 now given the complete silence from the board. I agree that things are progressing behind the scenes (development squad etc) but we are 15-20 years behind the rest of the league already in terms of infrastructure and if you're standing still you're going backwards- not sure the board feel the same though worryingly.

Just hope we don't get a HMRC investigation for paying below minimum wage as I've said before £150 per week is a disgrace if true. I doubt the club will have any concerns. My lad has an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and is paid a paltry £140 a week. That's minimum wage for an apprentice working 40hrs a week. It's gone up since I was an apprentice then. I used to take home £303 per month as a first year apprentice car mechanic. That was 1997 and at Dick lovett BMW! Hardly a back street operation.

The worry is though. If any of these guys are good. Will they be thinking: I owe Bristol Rovers for giving me a chance Or I owe them nothing, they only paid me £150 a week. We have lost some great young talent over the years and haven't been compensated in anywhere near the value that they would have been to us, so we should treat these kids with respect.
