This will probably be my first and last post, but I wouldn't have felt right by not expressing my condolences to the Dunford family at this very sad time. Rest in Peace Geoff, thank you for saving our great club.

Goodbye to a Rovers servant, somoeone who stood up and was counted more than once for his football club. The ability to stand firm and work hard under the extreme scrutiny of people who may/may not agree with you is a daunting task and Geoff managed this. The main man for a while and was hugely instrumental in us owning an assett at last which still today has allowed us to continue where we may otherwise have floundered.
Cheers Geoff, your father would have been proud and your family name will always be mentioned when people chat about Bristol Rovers.
Rest in peace and may god be with you.

My lad plays for the golden hill sonics under 14 and there was a minutes silence before kick off in honour of Geoff. It turns out that Geoffs nephew was in goal for the opposition. ( frys club ) I thought it was a great touch!

Day was spoilt for me when I heard Geoff had passed away whilst on the way to Rochdale.
Geoff, you and your dad were the answers to a lot of prayers from gasheads everywhere back in the eighties. You saved for me what matters most outside my family, and that is my football club. It's impossible to thank you both enough for the hard work and untold hours you spent getting us not only to survive, but back to Bristol.
God bless Geoff. Back with mum and dad now. Keep watching over us. UTG. Love to Sharon and family.

Quite honestly I don’t think I can add anymore to what has been said already about Geoff Dunford. He truely was a very friendly man and the saviour of Bristol Rovers football club. It has been suggested elsewhere that one of the stands at the mem should be renamed “The Dunford Stan” Or even “The Dunford Memorial Stand”. Which ever I’d preferred I’m sure all Gashead’s would support it. As been said many times since the awful news of Geoff’s passing, without him and his father Denis, there might not be a Bristol Rovers today. RIP Geoff, now in heaven with your dad, Denis!

Have anyone got a link to BBC radio Bristol broadcast with Nick Day paying tribute to Geoff Dunford this morning?

Thanks for posting, wasn't able to tune in this morning so glad its on replay. The March "having a gas" interview is all the more poignant listening now but remember thinking at the time that despite being very unwell his love for Rovers and great memories still sparkled through. I do hope he finished the book as I am sure it will be a great read

Really saddened and shocked by this as I don't have any 'connections' to anyone at the club I assumed he had beaten his illness. Although I did spend some time with him one to one a few years ago. I was struck by how much he genuinely loved the Gas as much as I and the rest of us do and I've never forgotten that.I've never forgotten too that when Geoff and his family and the other directors took over we just had kits and football's left and nothing else. I remember going to Twerton to watch us play Exeter in a cup game and worrying if this was the beginning of the end for us. That evening there seemed more police than supporters. From this situation Geoff got us back to Bristol owning our own stadium, an amazing achievement. Before Geoff and his family became invloved I never felt I related to previous boards of directors, but the Dunfords were men of the people and galvanised our success at Twerton we were all in it together and we did it together. It's a no brainer we should have a Dunford stand in the future as a fitting tribute and a reminder that without them BRFC wouldn't exist today. R.I.P.Geoff and sincere condolences to his family and friends.

So tragic and sad for everyone who knew Geoff. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
